"Young Lady " that was Mrs Martin's way of addressing us to teach us who we are. Those were some good days that nurtured a great foundation. Graduate Class of 98 Ladies where are you!
When I was at Dunrobin Primary School, the art teacher discovered that my best friend Paula and I were gifted at drawing. The teacher then took us out of our regular class and insisted that we do lots of art work. I was able to escape the extra attention, but not Paula. When our common entrance results came out she succeeded in going to Merl Grove while I ended up at Immaculate. The whole time I was in high school, I had the misguided impression that I was getting a superior education to her - "until wi buck up at UTech and she was doing Architecture while I was doing Business Administration." You see, they did not offer Technical Drawing at my school. Back in my time, this subject was deemed a "Male" subject and not offered at the esteemed ICHS, so there was no way any "Girl" could ever dream of becoming an Architect without pursuing this prerequisite course elsewhere. Nowadays, my Alma-Mata has progressed to the point where they are actively encouraging girls to enter male dominated fields, most recently in mechanical engineering. Thanks Miss Kitty for sharing this integral part of your academic journey with us, as the illustrious Merl Grove High School celebrates its 100th year of existence.😎🏁
While in school i would pick di mango and go to detention. Imma water and talk to that mango tree , give it hugs and kisses too. Me and Mrs Barbara Martin would learn to appreciate the true purpose of mangoes. Today i know better and agree with Miss Kitty's 😂😂
Im a pass student of Merl Grove High School, im class of 2010, that time the principal was Miss Amy Allen and she was an excellent principal. My favorite teachers are the now principal Mrs Ricketts, Mrs Flemmings Watkis and of course the late Mrs Stephanie Darby who ensures that our English was proper proper, we couldn't play in Mrs Darby class, lol good old days. I had seven big sisters who are also pass student of Merl Grove High school too😀😀
