David Phelps is one of the best tenor voices out there. From his days with The Gaither Vocal Band to his solo career, dude has serious range, power, and both vocal as well as breath control. Check out No More Night, End of the Beginning and an absolute MUST (that you really should do a reaction to...hint, hint) is Oh Holy Night live. Trust me, if you like vocals and chills this one will NOT disappoint!!
BRO, I concur with other comments regarding David Phelps. He does an absolutely knockout version of "O Holy Night". PLEASE react to this during the holiday season. This video is entitled "Bill and Gloria Gaither presents David Phelps, Live, in "O Holy Night". There's more than one versions David sings, but the one with the most views has him attired in a GREEN sweater. THANK YOU so much, and I wish you a Merry Christmas!
This was filmed in Birmingham... David filmed two dvd concerts that night. He really is one of the best male vocalists--ever. You should do some more reactions to him, you'll be blown away. Of course, for Christmas, his O Holy Night is one of the best versions in existence. Other great ones you'll love... I Have Nothing, No More Night, We Shall Behold Him, The Dream, Let Freedom Ring... there's no shortage of awesome live performances to choose from. He's performed all over the world from the Grand Ole Opry to the Sydney Opera House... you're gonna love listening to him. Enjoy!
YES!! Been waiting for more to check him out. This is well worth going down this rabbit hole. An amazing singer! Been listening to him for over 20 years.
Omg I can't believe y'all are hearing David. But this song doesn't begin to show his voice. There's no greater, more beautiful voice, living today. I'm serious. Professionals study him. God's hand is on this man. PLEASE listen to O Holy Night by him. The original... him with the Gaithers, live. ♥ ♥ ♥ Been listening to the Gaithers since a kid in the 70s. God bless them all. 🙏
This is Grandma from Texas. I love love love David Phelps. Probably the best male tenor of our time. Thank you for this. Whitney Houston’s is still my favorite but I love the second verse of our National Anrhem. 🇺🇸. Y’all are precious. I enjoy your reaction videos.
There are four stanzas to the Star Spangled Banner and David sang the first and the fourth, just for clarification! Love that you gave David a listen. He is the best all time tenor of our time. 💗
David is a gospel singer primarily, but will venture out to secular songs. He has been referred to as the greatest tenor on the planet. ABSOLUTE MUST you need to hear is O Holy Night, No More Night, Let Freedom Ring (with Gaither Vocal band) and his cover of Whitney Houston's I Have Nothing. He actually sang that on same octave as Whitney did! Unbelievable when he hits that D5. He really is perhaps the greatest vocalist on the planet for many reasons. Please react to him more. Thanks
IMHO, one of the best singers on the planet. He’s a gospel singer so he’s not near as well known as he should be. Listen to his version of Oh Holy Night. You’ll be blown away.
Great song and reaction. This is one I have worked with in studio before. His range is amazing and as someone else said one of the best tenors out there. Sang most of his career with Gaither Vocal band before doing any solo work. Works and records mostly with Bill Gaither ( a gospel music icon). Thanks for reacting to this. I have not heard it before. Loved this version/interpretation of the song. Love you guys ❤️
Actually, David had a solo career long before he joined the Gaither Vocal Band. His first solo album, "Journey to Grace," was released in 1992, about five years before he joined GVB.
@@SchoeneTante Yes ,he started while in school at Baylor. Me and David are almost the exact same age. He started with Bill Gaither in 1997. Therefore most of his career has been either singing with the Gaither Vocal Band or recording with Bill Gaither for his solo career.. All the guys have had solo careers before and after being with Gaither Vocal Band. Bill Gaither is a very big songwriter and producer in Christian music industry along with his wife. He has a huge studio on his property in Indiana that is very nice if you haven't been there. If you are a singer or musician it is a great experience to get to work at those studios.
David was classically trained at Baylor University and is one of the premier first tenors. Check out him singing "Star Spangled Banner" with the Gaither Vocal Band as well as many others.
'Oh Holy Night' is how most people become aware of David. Live at the Alabama Theatre is the one to hear.(he's wearing the green sweater) The late Anthony Berger is the extraordinary pianist on this piece. You'll NEVER regret it!
Everything he does is amazing! His cover of I Have Nothing by Whitney Houston is unbelievable. He does mostly Christian music so he doesnt get the recognition he deserves.
I have seen David perform several times live and he is the best vocal singer I have ever heard. I hope you can check out more of his songs like I have nothing by Whitney Houston is unbelievable and he sang it in the same key as she did.
Thank you. One of my favorite artists. And a version that I feel expresses that we don't all experience our country and faith in the same way. But we can rejoice and hold each other up with love and true care.
I was at that live recording. It was at the Alabama Theatre in Birmingham. It was awesome! I love seeing all these channels reacting to David. It’s so funny because I’ve been listening to him for over 20 years. I love that more people are discovering him!
I second the request to do, O Holy Night by David Phelps live with Bill and Gloria Gaither. He also has his cover of Whitney Houston's, I will always love you out about 8 or 9 months ago at the age of 52! Absolutely killed it. Definitely need to go down the David Phelps rabbit hole.
Asia & BJ. please, please, please listen to David's live version of 'O Holy Night' performed like no other. He has a newer version of that same song, but that one, to me, put him on the map so to speak. For my ears, he's the best male vocalist alive! Here's the link: th-cam.com/video/ElJ0fiD0lkc/w-d-xo.html
It was in Birmingham Alabama, It was a place similar to the Fox In Atlanta. It was a full concert, I was there and it was amazing. They recorded the entire show without any retakes that I recall.
So happy you like David. I saw him in concert earlier this month. Still stunning voice at 53. His New sun Dorma and O Holy Night WoW!!! He does a cover of Whitney Houston I Have Nothing which omg. Thanks again! Merry Christmas
Whitney Houston's version of the Star-Spangled Banner at Super Bowl XXV will always be the best rendition for me. Most of the time I would get emotional whenever I see it. And to top it off, it was the year USA was at War in Iraq and the NFL contemplated on canceling the Super Bowl that year, making her rendition more memorable than any other rendition in my opinion.
Please please please react to his Live O Holy Night performance! You will be blown away!!!! I have requested it the last 2 years and haven’t had any luck! ❤
David’s considered 1 of the best tenors alive (fr this is nothin). Glad ya liked & noticed the 🔥 tempo change to Led Zeppelin’s “Kashmir! He’s classically trained but opted to use his voice for ministry vs. mega fame. He headlines his tours & does concerts at his Ranch! THX’s ♥️ y’all & lovvvved reaction!!!
Please listen to David Phelps rendition of O Holy Night, and His high resonate notes on youtube you'll be blown away! Simply the best tenor out there, thank you!
Here's the entire song lyrics: O say can you see, by the dawn's early light, What so proudly we hail'd at the twilight's last gleaming, Whose broad stripes and bright stars through the perilous fight O'er the ramparts we watch'd were so gallantly streaming? And the rocket's red glare, the bomb bursting in air, Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there, O say does that star-spangled banner yet wave O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave? On the shore dimly seen through the mists of the deep Where the foe's haughty host in dread silence reposes, What is that which the breeze, o'er the towering steep, As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses? Now it catches the gleam of the morning's first beam, In full glory reflected now shines in the stream, 'Tis the star-spangled banner - O long may it wave O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave! And where is that band who so vauntingly swore, That the havoc of war and the battle's confusion A home and a Country should leave us no more? Their blood has wash'd out their foul footstep's pollution. No refuge could save the hireling and slave From the terror of flight or the gloom of the grave, And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave. O thus be it ever when freemen shall stand Between their lov'd home and the war's desolation! Blest with vict'ry and peace may the heav'n rescued land Praise the power that hath made and preserv'd us a nation! Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just, And this be our motto - "In God is our trust," And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave

David's a great gospel singer. Started out with the Gaither vocal band. Wonderful!!
This was David's concert in Birmingham, AL. The music for the 2nd half was Led Zeppelin's Kashmir. David is legend in gospel music.
Best male vocalist in the world...and has been for the past twenty five years. I have seen him perform live from the front row 11 times now.

The rock & roll part was the song by Led Zepplin called “Cashmere”
Here's the entire song lyrics:
O say can you see, by the dawn's early light,
What so proudly we hail'd at the twilight's last gleaming,
Whose broad stripes and bright stars through the perilous fight
O'er the ramparts we watch'd were so gallantly streaming?

As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses?
Now it catches the gleam of the morning's first beam,
In full glory reflected now shines in the stream,
'Tis the star-spangled banner - O long may it wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!
And where is that band who so vauntingly swore,
That the havoc of war and the battle's confusion
A home and a Country should leave us no more?
Their blood has wash'd out their foul footstep's pollution.
No refuge could save the hireling and slave
From the terror of flight or the gloom of the grave,
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.
O thus be it ever when freemen shall stand
Between their lov'd home and the war's desolation!

Praise the power that hath made and preserv'd us a nation!
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto - "In God is our trust,"
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave
