    Not to sound like a total hippie, but how can people watch what seems to be a genuinely super-friendly guy in a really good mood talking about a rig full of rare, oddball gear, and jump straight to posting negative, hateful comments about it? Catch the positive vibe when it's given to you, people :) Enjoy it and pass it on. That's the fun part of being, you know, a person. Loved watching this rundown, this Ian dude seems like the kinda guy you'd want on tour with you!

      +John NT I am a hippie, an am not hateful to the guy at all. I am just asking if they will go over each thing, so us guitar players can learn more about this gear. Most guitarists do not have this much gear, and this could be a great opportunity to learn about a lot of things at once. Instead he just whips through it.. So, I am asking if Josh, himself, can go over each thing, because he probably understands the gear better than this guy.

    I sorta feel for Josh. He spent ten years basically in John's shadow and few people ever took him seriously as a player in his own right despite him being in one of the biggest hard rock bands of all time.
    I hope whatever he does from now on takes off massively.

      ***** You are 100% right. I'm tired of constant signature advertising...

    • @usaflagraybans
      @usaflagraybans 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      ***** I agree with going back to the days before signature gear, but I don't necessarily think that people not using AC30's or Plexis is attributed to the signature gear craze. Not to say those aren't great amps, but unless you're only living in the British amp flavors, there are some really good amps out nowadays. Bogner has some great amps, Mesa has great stuff, Hughes and Kettner has some great stuff. Even the Peavey 6505 which was the Eddie Van Halen 5150 signature amp has become much more than what it was intended and Peavey continued building those amps after EVH left Peavey. Marshall and Peavey have some of the best amps ever built, but there's other companies doing different things that I like, too.

    • @J8D2
      @J8D2 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Very few artists actually use signature gear as such, they mostly use custom shop or ghost built stuff. Signature amps just seem really dumb to me though.

    We always try to get the artists themselves to talk and demo their rigs, but their schedules are often hectic and filled with other obligations so we opt to do the RRs with the techs since they're always available and willing to talk gear with anyone that will listen.
    Trust us, our goal is to get every guitarist/bassist to talk about/play through their rigs, but if that's not option for any assortment of reasons, we prefer to do it with the tech than not at all.

    The notion that Josh Klinghoffer or Edge is a crappy player because they have a ton of pedals is further proof that an IQ test should be required to comment on these videos...While Edge would fail miserably at Little Wing, likewise no one can duplicate Edge's sound. As far as Josh goes, he is a world class all around studio musician who can play many instruments...I would be willing to bet that he can play anything that 99% of the guitar players reading this can play...

    No signal loss because all of those boss pedals maybe? I wish we could get one of these each tour they do. I love this guy! He talks fast, lots of info, but I'm not totally annoyed by anything. It's great!

    I wish Josh played for a different band, I think the peppers is wasted on this type of guitarist. Hope he goes on to make something crazy.

    People are complaining about the size of his rig but really the only time he uses a tonne of effects at the same time is during the jam sessions, Josh normally uses around the same amount effects on a song as John did. A lot of effects doesn't mean a guitarist is bad either, it'd be boring if everyone just used a Distortion, Delay and a Boost.

    In some ways Josh doesn't have a choice regarding the complexity of his board. Ever seen Frusciante's RHCP rig? It's at least this obtuse, with a ton of huge analog MOOG pedals to boot. Also it seems ridiculously unfair to peg someone as a shitty guitarist just because they use a lot of pedals. I'm not a fan of Josh's or the Edge, but it's not because they use too many pedals. I just don't think what they produce with them is all that interesting.

      +ZiPolishHammer The MoogerFooger series are fairly large but they do make compact pedals.

    His tech is the nicest coolest tech I've ever seen.Every time I watch one of these I should not watch the part showing guitars because I start thinking of the ones I've sold that I totally regret.Like he shows a 64 Jaguar and I think of the 63 one I sold in 2000 and have been looking for it since 2001 to get it back.Great video.

    Too many Pedals! Spend more time on playing and using your hands / tone / volume knobs along with different guitars to get the effect you want. Rely on these... and when they go out... you are screwed!!!

    • @gumbilicious1
      @gumbilicious1 10 ปีที่แล้ว +20

      bullshit
      pedals are a tool. nothing more and nothing less. you pick your tool for effect, no guitar/tone/volume knob/hand is going to sound like a CE2.
      if you think this guy will be 'screwed' if one of his pedals goes down then you are being an alarmist.

      They have it set up to where if one goes out it'll be fine........ Turning the tone and volume knobs on all 5 of my electrics isn't going to give me the reverb, delay, over drive, and looping that I want.

      Boo Radley that is an interesting and limited outlook you have.
      many people who make a living playing music have a far different opinion.
      so far i have yet to encounter a single pedal that makes a bad guitarist sound good/better, so i don't share you opinion at all.

    Maximilian, the Bright Onions are not really loop switchers as we're used to. The flick switches are the on/offs for each loop. Those are left on all the time, so every loop is engaged. The pedals are then used just like a regular daisy chain. The looper is only for removing a faulty pedal from the daisy chain without having to pull cords out of pedals. In other words, Josh runs a daisy chain of pedals, and the Bright Onions are just for quick troubleshooting.

    no josh hate. I like josh. But I feel like some of these pedals are so unnecessary. 3 digital delays? (dd3(x2) and a dd6) a couple ce-2's. just seems a little redundant. John had tonnes of pedals too, but it seems like a waste to have a bunch of pedals that can accomplish the same tones. no hate, and video was awesome and explanations were great. I just think it's a little silly to have so many pedals with such limited use.

      my theory on this is that he has so many so that its easier for him to get different levels of effect for the songs without having to manually change them on stage he can just click a pedal and get the different types of levels? thats just my guess anyways

    • @Kr3wIpath606
      @Kr3wIpath606 9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Josh uses different delay settings for different songs that's why he has a few if he only had one he would have to be changing and adjusting the knobs between every song or in the middle of a song, why would he want to do that? That is why he has a few delays dif settings for dif songs I don't see what the big deal is especially with the money he has. Its silly to say "he only needs one"or "he doesn't need that" obviously you don't know much about guitar or pedals or the songs they have and how they fit in each song

    • @adamsweeney6435
      @adamsweeney6435 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ricky stop being a troll. If YOU knew anything about the songs you'd know that only a handful of songs even have delay. And you also know John had 2 delay pedals. And if you knew anything about pedals at all or how to use them, you'd know it doesn't take more than 15 seconds to turn the knobs to achieve one time or another. Josh has enough money to do whatever he wants. I'm just saying it's kinda silly.
