This would be perfect of it had sheltered ventilation at the head. I need something this spacious and low profile but can be used in the rain without a tarp.
ticks a lot of boxes for stealth camping, the front is a full mesh covering with the option to cover with the front door in poor weather, I wouldnt be too concerned in poor weather and rain, youre staying dry. ATB Colin
Nice one looks a great wee Bivi and a great price too I look forward to seeing your overall thoughts on it when you take it out and it certainly passed the water test big like
Colin, that is a wee jump up from tent pegs to buying a bivy😊 It does look quite cool and the water test gave some reassurance. Like that you can lie with the top open being able to look up at the sky and also lie with the net closed looking out at the midges🦟😊 I think the 🐑 agreed😊
Great review mate, I'm sneaking into Go Outdoors when I drop the wife off to work tomorrow. I was going to check out the OEX Phoxx 1. There was no need for weather forecasts where I was for the last 2 weeks. Great video as usual.
looks good , looking at this type of solo job and this might be the one I go for . Have the oex coyote 3 and very pleased with that tent . Thanks for reviewing it 👍
Hey Colin, interesting wee number that one! Those wee niggles are nothing a wee bit of paracord and bungee won't sort. Great review and I look forward to seeing you out in it! atb Sinco
Awk Sinco , great to hear from you , indeed mate it needs a real outdoors test , sort of thought it would be good for the high Mournes in winter , cheers mate 👍🏻🤘🏻
Plenty of room for your reindeer hide and the outbacker stove I reckon! 😎 Big contrast from your usual shelters…hope the cat will be joining you when you use it (no rude response allowed)!
Whatever could you possibly mean hot lips Kennedy?? 😁🤣 yea something light and will do the job in the high Mournes , need to make a stove jack now 😁🤣Cheers 🤘🏻
This is actually a sweet bivvy because it could handle the wet really well. But I still prefer the basic bag with no poles or pegs. You can sleep anywhere with those. Perfect for going on trips in unfamiliar unpredictable terrain. But.... When it rains..........
It’s not bad at all , I know what you mean with the basic bivvy , great if you can trust the weather forecast . This particular bivvy tent will not take up much more space than a traditional bivvy and not that much heavier , Great comment cheers ATB Colin
So you've had this a while now. How bad is the condensation? How has it's water proofness held up? I'm bagging Munro's and away to get a bivvy but I prefer the comforts of a structured bivy. Looking at this. Also love the water proof test!
Ive used it a few times , condensation has not been a problem for me , i was able to use just the mesh door, that with the rear vent ensures a nice flow of air. If you are doing munros in winter id still use the mesh door ,ok not if its snowing or raining, I like plenty of ventilation even if its baltic out. Good luck on your summits.
@@frozenmist-w4k well it's very hard to avoid rain in Scotland. Only really do the winter ones with snow at the summit and you would camp further down off the snow. If the snow was that bad I just wouldn't go. I am definitely after waterproofness ... Needs to be waterproof in a heavy down pour 100%
Good review mate, looks solid enough, get it up Doan and try it out for real👌🏻🤙yes, im not a fan of gore tex at all, I prefer Nikwax, used in Paramo clothing👍🏻
@@frozenmist-w4k you should try martini instead of wine, I believe it gives out a dryer condensation that wine does😀also you could hook up an extraction fan and run it off a 12v car battery, might need two trips up Doan🤣
interesting looking bivvy, not bad on weight. how small dose it pack down? in certain weather i could see condensation being an issue but that is expected with a single wall style tent/bivvy. i've owned and used many single man tent's. but as i have aged i like something i can sit up in and pee in a bottle without leaving the tent. look forward to seeing it used in the field. cheers dude 👍
Should have mentioned the pack down size dohh , it comes in its own roll top and clip in buckle bag made of the same waterproof material , same colour , packs down to approx 12 inches by six , so easily managed , there’s room enough to be comfortable and even have your rucksack inside , peeing not a problem either . Cheers Colin
I would tend to agree with you Gary , it’s really a minimalist shelter for long treks in the mountains /forest , coastal when you need the head down for a few hours . Wouldn’t be my idea of fun in a storm . 👍🏻
aaargh! that would be like sleeping in a coffin. I'd go mad. Seems like really good material, though. sturdy and flexible, and pretty small to cart about the place.
Wow, that's some good explanation there. It's such a lovely sleeping bag and it's such a worth being here
Keep giving us more
Thank you very much Abdul , really appreciate the comment 😁👍🏻

@@frozenmist-w4k I have no doubt it's water proof but I doubt it's breathable enough when zipped up fully.

Quite pleased with it I must say , needed a small enough and light footprint for the high Mournes come Autumn. Cheers 🤘🏻
Just getting over covid, loved this with my green tea debs xx
Ahh Debs , hope the old Kung flu wasn’t too bad and you’re back to your usual antics 😁👍🏻🤘🏻

Cheers Gerry , looks like a promising wee bivvy , just needs a test in the great outdoors 👍🏻😁
Nice test thank you, i notice yours has the zip stopper in the middle, do you know why they added that ?
Hi there ive no idea at all, do you have one thats different ?
@Sagewitchevensong yes mine has one too but I noticed on older videos there aren't

I’ve the phox 1 , great wee tent all round , but this wee bivvy seems a good alternative in terms of weight and pack size , cheers mate 👍🏻
All good mate?

Funny enough you’re talking about the coyote, I was in oex couple of years ago and got an ex display cougar 2.5 , actually a great tent 👍🏻🥰

Do you no any camping spots near Portrush I was thinking off going near the water that was another great video I hope you are keeping well
Dunseverick is a good spot but will be busy in good weather 😁
Gore tex hydrostatic head is 30,000hh plus. Minimum HH to be classed as waterproof is 5000HH so its waterproof rating is the bear minimum it can be

I’m thinking warm alcoholic breath on a freezing single wall in the heart of winter might be problematic, but we’ll see how it goes mate 😁👍🏻🍷
