The reaction of potassium dichromate with concentrated sulfuric acid also produces a reddish-brown vapor called chromyl chloride. This reaction is also known as the Chromyl Chloride Test.
When dilute sulfuric acid is added to an aqueous solution of potassium chromate, the solution changes color from yellow to orange.

CORRECTIO: Color in manganate and permanganate is cause due to d-d transition and LMCT respectively which has been altered in the slides :) as KMn04 has vacant d orbitals it cant show d-d transition.
