He went and asked why didnt you go school? The child said who will provide me food then.

He introduced mid day meal scheme so that everyone send their children to school for sake of food and education ratio of south india will get increased.

my mother is an ASHA worker . I can see in front of my eyes what type of effort she/ they put to bring the rural health in a good condition . They worked at grassroots level .They have taken a major role to decrease the rate of death of mother and child . They also visited door to door in this covid19 lockdown period and they has actively participated in covid vaccination .
But when Its come to there Salary and there development both the central and state Government of India blame each other they not increase the salary and not pay the little amount in time the govt also told if the ASHA worker get covid positive they wiil get 1 lakh amount it s also not paid yet .They paid near about 7000 to 8000 maximum per month hardly .
So my kind request to you all please look into this matter so that they will get their rights .

I totally feel your pain..but it's not the state's fault.. everytime state sends proposal to centre for approval of funds..they put the file in hold and bury it..check out how many times Delhi itself has tried it..but unfortunately our Govt believes in eyewash rather than actual 'vikas'

In TN, Laptop and cycles can also be included in welfare since it really helped students and poor section of the people..
It were only given to 10th and 12th students.
Cycle basically helped school and college students to travel in free to the nearby college and in some place students even traveled upto 5-10km in cycle. Whereas laptops were given to 12th student which helped many students to be technologically sound mind and today if you see out of many engineers. Tamil Nadu has the one of the highest number of electronic and science engineer who are into software, coding, etc.
These are all welfare schemes, freebies schemes are which tempt people even if that is not their basic requirements. Like color TV, scooty for example.
You can also make the same argument for scooties.

Super episode. Excellent explanation of welfare schemes versus freebies. The real stinging point is that the government cuts corporate tax and writes off loans taken by corporations from public sector banks for which taxpayers have to recapitalize the banks. That is the real "revri".
Read "Lee Kuan Yew: The Grand Master’s Insights on China, the United States, and the World" book's section on india.
First Understand What is Write Off. It is a routine process followed by banks all over the world to clear their accounts as mandated by the RBI or their respective Central Banks. Also WriteOff does not mean the loan won't come back. Eg- SBI wrote off a 88000Cr Loan around 2011 and afterwards they recovered 97000 Cr. Also As per TOI, 6.4 Lakh Cr NPAS was recovered. Just Don't listen to Kejriwal. He is just fooling people by equation Waive Off with Write Off.

Social Welfare like free education, Healthcare, Transportation, Energy etc are not just promoted by our constitution but also help common man in these times of high inflation and unemployment. These are not "Revris" like Modi names them. The money collected through tax is being reinvested back into people who in turn spend it back into the economy. Most of the states with highest amounts of debt are the states plagued by intense corruption and mismanagement which robs common citizens of these welfare schemes intended for them. Delhi is a great example of effectiveness of Social Welfare done right. The State has managed to uplift its weaker sections without encurring any debt and staying in surplous revenue. All it took was an honest administration and accountability. People like Modi turn a country into Sri Lanka.

I don't really consider providing basic necessities for free as "freebies". Good healthcare and education for free is a sign of a successful state. Safe drinking water and a few free units of electricity don't really seem that bad to me.

Well, i am not from delhi and i know only a little about that scheme, but if it is only for elderly people, i think it is a good scheme, because even after working their entire life many people didn't visit any places, and some peoples' children leave them or don't take care of them or don't have time for them. So, I think it is good as they can become more hopeful about living and also brings some happy moments in their life.
They have been paying the taxes all their life, nothing is wrong with a gift of content for them.

Important Correction:
Need to emphasize on the "GOLD as revdi" statement that's mentioned in the video. It's not right to call it revdi here. Because this scheme needs to be understood properly, it's not for everyone, it's targeted for BPL ‘below poverty line’! It's purpose is welfare and social upliftment.
It's called the "Thalikku Thangam" (Gold for mangalsutra). The Dravidian parties in Tamil Nadu wanted to curb some social malpractices on women that existed in the name of tradition and poverty. Women from socially and economically backward classes were usually prevented from education by families and married off early. In order to prevent child marriages and open the doors to education for women, the Dravidian party in govt executed this scheme under the Department Of Social Welfare of Tamil Nadu. The scheme is open to women from all religious background, its main condition is the economic aspect. The policy comes in two schemes:
Scheme I benefit:
Rs. 25,000 + 8 gms of gold (22 carat)
Target eligibility:
* "Passed" 10th standard
* 18+ age
* Family Income < Rs.72,000/-p.a
Scheme-II benefit:
Rs.50,000 + 8 gms gold (22 carat)
Target eligibility:
* Degree or Diploma Holder from Government approved colleges.
* 18+ age
* Family Income < Rs.72,000/-p.a
The result was indeed a positive impact after a decade of successful beneficial outcomes, there had been a decrease in the school drop out ratio of girls and more women enrolling for diploma and degrees in govt recognized colleges and a big impact was the decrease in the child marriages among BPL population.
Now this changed to 1000 per year for girl child education in college

Gold mangaltura.. isn't given to everyone, it was given to first girl graduate of the weaker section ..
And TV and other electronic appliance though we say it's a free .. but because of these free appliances lot of girl child were able to study after returning from school, instead of doing household chores ...
And TV is what helped the weaker section in times like covid when digital divide was affecting the education ...
Though we can say it was not far though and some were pure gimmick to win elections.. like PTR said once man's freebie is another man essential needs ..
And even if one man or women life was positively improved then its not wrong .. !!
