Very cool. Love this build. The base system in the e90 is absolutely shocking. The hi-fi system is actually pretty good, has under seat subs and tweeters.
When you said £1800, I was about to say “blimey, that’s how much I paid for my 325i!” Then you told me you’d bought a 325i for £1,700. 🤣 brilliant. Would love to upgrade my audio, so this is very helpful. Cheers!
Base system is horrible, the issue with the base system is the lack of amp only from the headunit, the tweeters and the 6inch subs under seat. retrofitted a match amplifier with match 8inch subs 200w rms and oem hifi tweeters in the door corners. Everything was plug and play, night and day difference!
Would you happen to know if you can get a set from other models ? will they fit this ? the part numbers are diffrent. I have heard some will mix & work i am just now doing this retrofit.

I don't understand why go to all this mess to put back in a factory sound system . Why not put in a better sounding and functional head unit with XM satellite radio and better speakers . In my 2010 Z4 I put in a Alpine single din head unit with Focal speakers with a 5ch Alpine amp , OMG the system is awesome
Because this oem system actually raises the value of the car, unlike what you have done. Any ”upgrades” that are not oem do not really raise the value of the car.

What amp did you use? And where did you mount it

Insurance in the uk it’s the stupidest thing ever. My first car at 16 was a 435i in Canada, insured no problem

I think e92 e91 and e93 will all fit with some minor differences.

Sadly I can’t comment on retrofitting it as I’ve not done it before.
