Having grown up Protestant, I, too, look at that time of my life-learnings as my Kindergarten and now I am in my higher learning education!! I loved learning about what the 3 degrees of glory are! I also loved learning about the great part of Gethsemane along with the crucifixion!!

I love this podcast. Every week I look forward to learning more about my Celestial journey. I love realizing that I need to adjust my view/understanding of the Gospel and the purposes of God towards us. I am a convert and it seems with every new clarification I am converted again and again. I love taking the sacrament each week and growing again and again. Thank you John and Hank for bringing this podcast to us all.

You guys that was awesome! Br. Harper thank you so much for clearing up so many misconceptions that one of my non-member friends has of me. He told me that I did not believe in the same Jesus Christ that he did. Now I know where these Notions come from with the Protestant historical religious beliefs. I just appreciate how you have dispelled all of these incorrect ideas that the anti-mormon literature people put out about us and our religion. Thank you for all your research on the Joseph Smith papers and what you have learned about Joseph Smith through this research! I have read all seven volumes of church history and I have come to Love Joseph Smith more and more as a human being who did repent of his sins on a daily weekly monthly basis!

Wow! I watched part 1 & part 2, and still wanted more. Thank you all for your insights and your honesty..it’s so refreshing. I, too want to go to the Celestial kingdom to be with my children and other loved ones. But my main motivation is that I believe it’s what Jesus Christ suffered to give all of us and it gives him and our Heavenly parents great joy when we choose to come HOME and be one with them.

I absolutely love this discussion. It brings more clarity of the love and mercy our Father in heaven has for us. I love how Brad Wilcox teaches this truth in his talk on grace, describing that it would be the Savior who would be begging us to choose Him at that final judgement. But it won’t be any surprise where we end up because we will choose where we feel comfortable.

Thank you so much for this. I love Steven Robinson books too. They helped me a lot. Also I'm so glad to hear he was sarcastic 💓💓 I've been called a curmudgeon too. 💓💓 It hurt my feelings, but now I will treasure it . Thank you 💪🙏💕

I was once a wondering child. I testify that even though I turned my back on Christ's church, Christ/ Heavenly Father did not turn their back on me. I still had the gift of the holy ghost that would speak quietly from time to time testifying of love for me. I can also testify that walking in the world is a very cold place, we try to fill that "whole" created with worldly stuff but in the end we no longer can deny that "whole" can only be filled with Christ's love . This path is hard to walk, especially for the parents who have to watch, as well as, the thousands of prayers, fasting, and attending the temple on our child's behalf.
These actions are not wasted, the child will eventually see their error ( in this life or the next) and come back to the fold, family, church. I testify that the path I walked was very hard, very dark at times, full of anger, pain, hurt feelings, etc. However, In the end I'm grateful for the path I walked knowing that with that choice to walk I'm stronger for it.
walking that path has helped me become a better father, husband, priesthood holder, friend, and servant to Heavenly Father. ( think About Alma the younger)
Stay hopeful but allow them to walk this path and give that worry to Christ, he will hold it and bring you comfort. The Mercy he will give our kids, what he gave for me is eternally magnificent. I am not perfect but I'm worthy :)

@@thundersheep001 Thank you so much for sharing your journey! Though it’s so painful to see loved ones turn to paths that are headed for pain, I am comforted by prayer, knowing that our Savior Jesus Christ has not, nor will ever give up on them…neither will I. It was harder when they were younger, but the Lord helped me to see that I needed to let go of disappointment, fear, and just bless them with the love of Christ, and by living the gospel…So no preaching, or condemnation. I do love them, just as they are right now. I pray for them to feel how much Christ loves them, which I believe would heal their hearts and give them peace. Whether in this life or in eternity, if God wills, I’ll see them dressed in white, beaming with joy in the holy temple. Be not afraid, only believe😊🙏🏻

Amazing insights and perhaps some of the best answers I’ve ever heard to some of the detractors to the true doctrine of Jesus Christ as revealed to and through Joseph Smith, Jr; the prophet of the restoration. And why we revere him without worshiping him, because he leads us to worship who and how we should to actually achieve heaven (poorly stated, but ...). Thank you all for moving the work forward!!!

I attended a Saturday evening stake conference meeting where Elder Bruce R McConkie spoke and told these simple Idaho members that they could make it to the Celestial Kingdom because they were making good choices like coming to that meeting. His talk was powerful and filled with hope and the atmosphere was electric. No one wanted to leave the stake center when he finished. He had changed their lives. My father who was on the religion faculty at Ricks taught that hopeful message many times after that and I would watch that faces of people when they would catch the truthfulness of that and I could see a change happen as joy fell upon them to know that if Elder McConkie thought they could make it, then they really did have a chance!!!

Your great educators. I’m close to 80. Restoration of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saint is and does focus on the Atonement. Our whole basis for believing is not all are given grace as repentance is equal to that gift of grace. Academic appears at BYU currently teaching grace for all.

A person in the terrestrial kingdom will be comfortable in that kingdom, and not want to be anywhere else. The regret wishing for a better place will not be apart of a kingdom of glory.

Timestamp 44:20 Dr. Harper suggests there is some ambiguity about whether progression is possible between terrestrial and celestial glory. There is definitive doctrine that there is not. In 1 Corinthians 15:39-40 Paul explains that there is a distinct difference between the type and makeup of those resurrected to celestial bodies vs. terrestrial bodies. Resurrection to a terrestrial body means that individual does not have the physical capability of celestial existence. Our resurrected bodies are immortal, thus permanent.

Dr. Harper is not alone. Some General Authorities say you cannot (Bruce R. McConkie). Others have left open the possibility (Brigham Young). I watch several of these podcasts a week and scholars I've seen, like Bro Harper have declined to voice an opinion. I find that interesting because I too have always believed you cannot. However, Latter Day scripture isn't clear either way and after studying and listening to others this week, I've thrown out my definitive thinking that you cannot, to a more ambiguous attitude bro Harper and others I've seen have taken. Either way I trust God.

Would I be on or off the right track by suggesting eternal torment is a result of remembering our prexsistance with our Heavenly family and then being rewarded with the degrees of eternal glory of Terrestrial, or Telestial, knowing what it was like to have been with Him, and never being able to return. The farther away the greater the torment? From what I am hearing, they won't want to be in His presents, so it won't be a torment at all. Is that correct?

The kingdom we receive seems to be tied valency to Christ. Those who reject Christ receive the lowest degree, those who accept Christ, but are no valiant receive a higher kingdom and those who are valiant are received celestial kingdom. Often we near some teach that we may spend much of eternity qualifying by becoming good enough to receive celestial glory. However, Section 76 indicates that they are made perfect...a spiritual gift to those who are valiant followers of the Savior. That idea celestial glory as a gift provides great hope for me.
