Great comprehensive video. I remember Billy Idol played Jimmy on one of the Who's Quadrophenia shows as well. Pretty cool.
I like Billy's cover of LA Woman, and I agree.. its a good record. overall ! ✌️
yeah don't get me wrong i don't think his cover is bad just didn't think it was a good choice for a single or certainly not the 2nd single following up on Cradle of Love.
@@STEVEHEROLD True.. It still rocks hard though.. I love it ! He spent lots of time in L.A. and I'm sure he felt an infinity for Los Angeles !
@@jtsrecordroom3963 it's a seductive town fer sure i can attest to that.
",Rebel Yell" Is his best. I feel. My friend Cindy.. ( 2001-2002 ) Her best memory was dating Billy when he was on L.A. ! She was in an all girl New Wave / Punk Band.. they never did much, but were in the scene in 1979- 1981.
that's cool. i'm sure she has some pretty nutty stories. what was the name of her band?
@@STEVEHEROLD I don't remember.. She was great.. but she also had 4 boys from a previous marriage, a guitar builder up at Lake Tahoe. She is tall and blonde, and played bass.. totally had the look ! Did you get my link with the guitar intro ? The blue animated starry night is a little less Lo-fi. It is not the best example of my guitar playing.. I wanted something Psych for my video intro's back then.
@@jtsrecordroom3963 oh yeah sorry i meant to tell ya i did listen. cool stuff. i think just some mellow low-key stuff would sound cool playing under your videos.
@@STEVEHEROLD I agree.. might get around to that in the future. Thanks, Steve !
I was on the Billy Idol train early in his career. I used to work in a record store when a four song EP promo came out I think in '81 or '82 which had Mony Mony on it. I thought it was great, and of course later he became huge. I thought Cradle Of Love was a great song and his best video. I did see Billy Idol but only in a supporting role on The Who's touring production of Quadrophenia where he played and sang Bell Boy. Great show and intro as always.
Hey Tarr. Ah yes I forgot about when he joined the Who for the Quadrophenia show. Yeah I don't know if it's "cool" again to like Billy Idol. There were a buncha years where it def wasn't. But I enjoy a lot of his songs. I think he's one of those artists where a Best Of record works pretty well as opposed to going out and picking up all the albums. He does have a few album cuts that are good but I don't know if any of his albums are a total must-have.
@@STEVEHEROLD I couldn't agree more. His catalog is pretty spotty especially in the 90s. A Best Of collection is all you need.
