Mr. Canterbury Sir! I've learned more from you, than any other person in my life. Thank you for all that you do in the survival/bushcraft/outdoor community!
I have been using the Prusik knot for over 50 years and it has never failed me. I used it while climbing and have only recently started using it for horizontal (like ridgeline) applications. I've never used the two-loop version as I have always preferred the additional safety factor of that third loop.
This is off topic and I apologise. Trying to follow some of your steps. I am having a horrible time finding a single shot break action shotgun. Thank you, for your videos. I have learned so much more!
I saw a man paint a flagpole, he tied two prusik knots around the flagpole, one used for a seat and one used for his foot he climbed to the top painted the ball on top with spray paint then worked his way down painting with a brush. He drove around the country living in his truck and made money painting poles.
Thank you Dave Canterbury the great bush craft teacher and leader, your video back catalogue is a true joy to discover in 2021 with incredible information on common man survivability, thank you sir please please keep uploading these extremely informative videos, they are getting shorter and shorter i need my fix of long format Dave Canterbury 😁with fresh 2021 takes on his thoughts / technique's/ equipment form 10 years ago i look forwards with eager anticipation to your next series/upload! p.s thanks for the thumbnail 2 Dave's for the price of 1 .(edit) i hope all is well with regards to building your house etc and hope your family and friends are doing good, and i hope your dog is well (i missed your signature sign out Dave in this video and remembered the things you might be currently going through, lots of love)
I love your video I have been which them since I was about eight or nine and I'm 16 now I love and enjoy watching your videos I've learned a lot keep up the good work and one day I hope to meet you and learn more keep it up
👍👍Yep. One of my favorite knots. One of the first ones I learned here back in the day and works a treat for tarps. The Wendell's too with the taught line hitch. It was kinda frustrating as a young man long ago not knowing the skill of making proper knots. Particularly on moving day trying to secure the load or unlash 5 deep discombobulated modified granny knot puzzles lol. I do appreciate Y'all for the help. 😎
If you know the direction of travel, I prefer a klemheist or distal. The prusik is omnidirectional but can work itself in so tight it becomes hard to move and being omnidirectional when not worked in slips easier because it only has half the loops working in your favor. Knowledge is the easiest thing you can carry.
I reasoned when you advised to have conibear traps, that even if survival isn't an issue, they trap pests just as well. I think this new knot is going to be useful, I can already tell. Thanks for that, this & continued tips. 303
I want to drink beer with this man. I have done survival, I’ve done camping, and I’ve lived a normal life. But after all of that, I still just want to have a beer with this man. I was a Marine though, so it may take me a minute to get past his Army past.
The funnest thing about cordage & knots is discovering more ways to use them. Once I learned the prusic, I completely stopped putting loops in my cordage (except for bowlines, duh).
Of all the knot videos I have seen, you are the only one who mentioned the loop knot should be on the side and why! It is important for people to understand that knots can weaken your line's strength, sometimes more than you can really afford...
It is not the strongest area of the rope so you dont want all the pressure directly on it, think of it like a repair, you would not want undue stress on any area you have repaired that may be weaker than the whole
Hello one Information that most people leave out is choice of ropes. Maybe you could clarify. Not all ropes are equal or made to do the same tasks. I have tied prusick loops to some paracord and they have slipped because the road was to slippery.
Dave. Going through your older trapping videos you metioned that a number 1 or number 11 could potentially catch a coyote have you ever been successful in that? Do you think you could catch a beaver on the front foot with one? Im really curious! For a long term kit if i could get away with 110s and #1 longsprings would be amazing im a very bad coyote trapper but i do alot of muskrat and beaver let me know what you think!
I love his trapping videos as well. I keep a 220 and two 110's with a slingshot, fishing yoyo's and tackle, and a gill net in my long term bug out bag.
I am a Christian prepper I believe in prayer prepping and no panicking - proverbs 22:3 Luke 22:36 Matthew 24:9. I am looking for a group of like-minded people, in or near Helena Montana must be bible-believing come hell or high water we are going to have church Christians
man it must be over 10 years from when i first started watching.. glad to see you still going strong. time goes by so fast
I still keep watching the ATV 2 Loadout video and his Longhunter Series.
Mr. Canterbury Sir! I've learned more from you, than any other person in my life. Thank you for all that you do in the survival/bushcraft/outdoor community!
A couple of prusiks in the kit are invaluable, always carry them, either for climbing or included within a pully system for hauling someone up.
You're a definite fave, great to see you in the tubes, you are a spectacular guy so many thanks for doing it !
Great video!
The prusik is a great knot!
I use it on my ridge line for my tarp

Clear, concise and informative as always.
Great stuff. I’ve been working on this one lately. Thanks so much, once again, for sharing all your knowledge and experience. Be safe, always.
Cool video. I learned more about this knot than I had known before. This knot is on my safety harness. Keep up the great work.
Great job explaining and demonstrating, this is great for treestand hunters
This is off topic and I apologise. Trying to follow some of your steps. I am having a horrible time finding a single shot break action shotgun. Thank you, for your videos. I have learned so much more!
A great knot ! Thanks Professor Dave
Been using one for years on the harness I use with my climbing stand . Didn’t even know what it was called for years . Thanks for sharing this
A good short video. Basic knots and line work is indispensable and not often taught anymore. 👍😎
Great knot, one of my favorites.
Live to Survive!
Easy and helpful knots , so much Thanks👍It has many advantages despite its simplicity, awesome👏🏻
Excellent presentation, Dave
Learned that knot in OSUT at Ft. Leonard Wood first, then used it for SPARTAN training on Cheju-do in 1982.

Great video David! Love the rope and knot tutorials
I've ascended many of ropes with Prusiks. I always carry 2 loops ready to go to deploy for self rescue.

Can you do all the other knots too? I'm asking "for a friend".
Stay warm.

Good for a safety harness for your treestand
Excellent. Never thought of using a prusik loop as an uscender before
but ya. How cool is that? Awesome!
👁❤🏕❇🔥🥓
I am your fan from middle east
U R amazing master
He really is, I love all the free knowledge he gives out on his channel, I've learned so much. Blessings to you and your family.

Great video.
Thanks Dave!!! Love your videos man 👍👍 keep up the good work
The Horace Kephart of our times; Keeper of woodcraft.
Well presented Dave. And, it works best if the Prusik loop's line is of smaller diameter than the main line, or the same diameter.
By any chance will you make more bushcraft cooking videos I personally love those.
Good explanation!
Appreciate the info.
God bless
Great video Dave God Bless
Thank you Sir . Much Respect 🤠🖖
Great demo
Thanks Santa.. 😂 love the videos brother.. 🤜🏻🤛🏻💪🏻

My knot tying skills definitely need some tuning. 😬😁. Good video. Sure is some crazy weather Ohio has been having .
FANTASTIC

Cool...Two Colors Rope Perfect...
Legendas em português por favor!
Excellent!
David tem muito conhecimento na bagagem, aprendi muito com mesmo, sucessos sempre, tudo de bom 👍
The prusik loop works best when the diameter of that cord is smaller than the diameter of the rope it is attached too.
Muito bom o video! 👍
Love your stuff. What do you think is a good .22 revolver.
I remember the discovery days and now after so many years dave has 664k subs? I remember the channel with just a few thousand
Ya, but I Don't understand WHY it isn't more.. cuz IT SHOULD BE MULTI(B)ILLIONs . RESPECT.. 🤠🖖
Good stuff.
Thank you

Awesome video can we see a adjustable slip knot type video
It's amazing how many of the knots we use in bushcraft are variations of the lowly slip knot.

What is that wool jacket dave has on in the thumbnail?
Or you can secure yourself to a tree when you're in a deer stand or a tree stand
Hello!
I used it to get out of a 17' tree well skying. I'd be dead if I didnt know that knot. ❤👍
👀💪👂
👍🏼🇺🇸 !!!
Cold as hell here in Ohio
You should have a test to see how much actual weight this knot will actually hold before it slips.
Say on a rope size.
👍🇸🇰
That place looks cold.
