As always with any car I've owned and you've reviewed you are spot on about it all, nice one!. Not sure you've mentioned that the engine is the same one as most jlr cars from that era used, although jlr used it as a single turbo where the c6 has a twin turbo setup. I've owned 2 of these and would definitely have another one, it is a nice happy medium between the lexus that you reviewed a few days ago and a jag or beemer.
The first time i saw one was very very early one morning as i drove past Euston station a black shiny one coming in the opposite direction....Must have made an impact as i remember it 15 years on
Happy you tested this, I bought a BX 16v donor for my 205 GTI, and actually even without driving it, its quirkyness affected me. I could easily see myself dailying a C6 with great pleasure. Saxo VTS next?
Wife had a 57 plate 2.7 V6 Lignage. SUPERB and a very special car when it was running well. Ours very rarely did though. It was in the dealer approx. every 3 months in the 2 1/2 years we had it. Final straw was when the suspension went rock hard in Poland of all places. It was a long firm ride back to the UK. Oh ar misses. We sold it showing 46K its still going though with 108K according to the MOT checker website. We miss it but it was just too much hassle as an every day car.

I would love a late C5 estate with the 3.0 Diesel engine, comes with the hydraulic suspension and a lot more modern than the C6 (although not as quirky/charismatic)
I searched for ages for a v6 diesel estate but went with the 2.2 in the end. It's just the best - you waft around as in a range rover whilst with better reliability and running costs! Plus sadly one of the last hydro citroens that'll ever be made ... :(

I remember hearing that the spoiler only raises up to its full height at 130 km/h or 80 mph here in Britain. So, you'd have to be going over the speed limit to get it there.
coming to review a c6 with a brand new s8... you could have film a nice remake of "Ronin" with one of the best car pursuit ever... XM vs S8 (from this era)
My favourite car as a kid in the 60's and what I wanted when I grew up was a DS . But of course they had finished by then. I never really noticed the C6, but I really fancied the new C5 which had the same rear screen, and yes because of the curve it is self clearing of rain especially on the motorway. The C5 is a beautiful car like the C6 and a real pleasure to drive. I did plan to buy the C5 estate next, but Citroen stopped building C5 them for the UK market do to lack of interest. A real great shame.
My grandfather had one of these, dark blue, pre facelift, plush-fabric interior. Most comfortable car i've ever driven. Showed it off to an exhange student who the whole year while here was looking and talking down euro cars, especially french and even he was impressed. I've never driven a car before that can feel so comfortable at low speeds, and still have a stability like the C6 at high speeds. Only thing i didn't like was the sound of the engine, although it was pretty well managed was still a bit too loud in the cabin. The gearbox was fantastically smooth, and the engine had plenty of power. If that thing had four wheel drive, adaptive cruise and a better sound system it would have been an absolute winner. The 2.7 HDI could overrun the front tyres too easily and sadly when the engine blew up (only at 150 000km's) , even though an extended warraty covered the costs, that killed trust for the car in my grandfathers eyes and rightfully so. Surprisingly that 2.7 litre diesel seemed to be pretty flawed, which was unfortunate considering PSA diesels have been pretty bulletproof in the past. There is a metallic red one with a tan leather interior not far from me that i see from time to time, and my god it looks fantastic. That metallic red, dark blue and black really suit this car. The example shown in the video, a grey/silver one is the only color i feel doesn't fit the lines. Rather than highlighting the outer lines of the car, it seems to highlight the panel seams.
You can buy one of these for pennies in the UK. But the road tax is expensive, and you need to have a tame Citroen mechanic who knows them as most garages will just say no and a lot of dealers won't touch them...
Got one couple years ago even with the drawbacks (quality) but I do like it, a black 2.7 exclusive with lounge pack ( the rear seats recline) and deep tan leather. Malcolm at Savoy Garage is the guy to buy off.
Love your reviews almost as much as I love old Citroens. I genuinely laughed at the golf ball line 😂 I’ve gone fully electric these days with both family cars and I often ponder which cars I would wrap up and hide from the eco-crusher. Many of them are Citroens. Any DS variant is a no brainier. But there are other less ‘classic’ ones. The BX 1.9 GTI is in there but I also have a soft spot for the much maligned XM. I listed after them and ignored beemers while I did. Great vid.
I've always had a thing for big Citroens: DS, CX, XM, C6. So I enjoyed this one. I don't think it looks unattractive, simply different. And with so many lookalike cars, that's got to be good.

That's lovely and quirky. My village has a tiny car dealership and had one for sale for months last year
Tell us more please! :)
@@dewiprys9746sadly it's no longer there so must have sold
JayM. Love the C6 models even today ! If this was a French maiden, what would be seated in the luxurious front pew ? V.
The French do know how to make an unusual car that is desirable, unfortunately not often enough to offset the junk they make. Always had a weird liking for these though
I've always jokingly said that French car designers are on Acid while German car designers are on Anti depressants.
It looks great with a cream and wood interior
Still love my 3.0 hdi. 😎
The one on test was a 2.7hdi with later style wheels. Mirrors were enlarged on last ones.
Worst feature satnav doesn't accept postcodes.
Lovely video! I just found it. Love quirky cars with character. A Lancia Thesis review would fit nicely, too!
Good luck to you🎉
Thanks for the video. Really liked it. Please make a video of the unsung hero, Peugeot 607 3.0 V6. Great car for the money!
Really not a fan of French cars, but big Citroëns really float my boat...
Love these!
' . . .feel the lineage . . . ' - nicely put.
"WAFT-A-RIFIC" - Fantastic - I love that !! ... Thanks James for making my day, and another great shirt by the way. ... Keep up the good work.
I really wish we had these here in Canada. Such a cool quirky car.
A future classic imo....sleek & full of design details...respect...😎😎
I remember this car tested on top gear once about how comfortable it is very rare car
I miss the days of big sedans from Citroen, Lancia, Alfa Romeo even Fiat. I was thinking of getting the C6 but ended up with a Lancia Thesis.
I like the blue dials. How are the electronic door handles?
@@visionist7 two out of 4 work :D Maintenance is pretty sky high but that's the unicorn tax.
@@nojustno7530 I always thought the Thesis would make a cool Buick... it reminds me of a Buick for some reason.
The C6 has been my daily driver for over 6 years. Unless it's in the garage being fixed.
Do you have one with the Wi-Fi option? Does it stil work anno 2021?
And how often is it in the garage then?
Around twice a year and around 500eu, but its a price I'm willing to pay.
@@jonnygti Lets put it this way. When my garage was looking for a replacement courtesy car they asked me which I would prefer. Mostly wear and tear jobs but some big stuff in between. On average between 4 and 8 weeks a year it's with them.
@@leedickenson6791 crikey that’s rather a lot for a normal family type car? If you told me it was a Range Rover or something like that, I’d have said that’s average. If my car is in the garage for more than 2 days a year(one for service and one for MOT) then I’ve had a bad year😂. Gotta love Toyotas 😜
I do really really like these. Very keen on picking one up if I can get a driveway big enough. My only worry is that living in Plymouth the streets can be bloody tight. But it will be perfect for cruising out of here on long journeys to see the rellies
I love the lights the most , very Art Deco .
I don’t know why but I like these
Your reviews are amazing. I wish Citroen stayed in the USA, as I would gladly buy this car. Maybe I’ll import one once it’s 25 years old.
Really love the improved camera work showing all the details.
Brilliant video jay somone brave to do a review of my favorite car I love the shape and style of them
I love that you do these quirky cars. I'd love to see you do a review on the Renault 21 Turbo, a Citroen ZX 2.0 16v, and the citroen BX GTi 16v. If you can find them. Had all 3 and loved them. Especially the R21 turbo.
I remember hearing that the spoiler only raises up to its full height at 130 km/h or 80 mph here in Britain. So, you'd have to be going over the speed limit to get it there.
A rare and eccentric car that's like a magic carpet over any road surface. It can take very heavy loads too.
coming to review a c6 with a brand new s8...
you could have film a nice remake of "Ronin" with one of the best car pursuit ever...
XM vs S8 (from this era)
A wealthy scoundrel seduced and betrayed her
My favourite car as a kid in the 60's and what I wanted when I grew up was a DS .
Owned and enjoyed an XM some years back: same breed, same bloodlines a nd, I guess, either you do, or you don't.
A great honest review
We currently have a C6 3 litre diesel with Lounge Pack, what a wonderful car. Also have a DS and an SM, they are certainly relatives with good genes.
I genuinely laughed at the golf ball line 😂
I’ve gone fully electric these days with both family cars and I often ponder which cars I would wrap up and hide from the eco-crusher. Many of them are Citroens. Any DS variant is a no brainier. But there are other less ‘classic’ ones. The BX 1.9 GTI is in there but I also have a soft spot for the much maligned XM. I listed after them and ignored beemers while I did.
Great vid.
What a stylish motor! We haven't had Citroens over here for decades
I've always had a thing for big Citroens: DS, CX, XM, C6. So I enjoyed this one. I don't think it looks unattractive, simply different. And with so many lookalike cars, that's got to be good.
I love the C6. I would have been have only been nine when it was first released and loved it back then! So different from all the pretty dull looking German saloons at the time 😃
@@archer7716 Well judging by your beemer avatar I can sense a bias going on 😂
I remember my Grandparents had a grey one of these withe the 3 litre diesel that they took my cousin and I caravanning in, it was a really comfy car!
I usually like this channel, but what is the point in reviewing a C6 with knackered suspension? It’s like reviewing a Saab Turbo with a broken turbo.
Superb review. Thank you.
