Found one of this 3 days ago at Ace Hardware for $500. Ended up empulse buying it since I always wanted a Mauser in 8mm. Was worried at first because of how old. I checked the barrel to make sure it was well cleaned and in good condition and it did look good so I got it. Shot it for the first time the day after. That gun is on point! Could probably hunt using its iron sights. Definitely do not regret picking it up! It does need a little work, but not on anything that impedes its function. Thing kicks like a mule too which I love! Been getting bored with not having a gun that forces you to make sure you're shouldering it properly lol. Before that mauser, 7.62x39mm was the strongest rifle round I had and for anyone who's shot that, they will no it doesn't really kick. This Mauser though; I could feel the ache in my shoulder still as I type this comment 😆
    Love this gun!

K.Kale (KırıkKale) is the city where MKE (machine and chemical industry) is located. MKE has been producing tanks, cannons and infantry rifles for the Turkish army

The M-38 classification is a bogus nomenclature created by the importers. I contacted a Turk that lived near Kirikale and he said that Kirikale never manufactured Mausers, they converted Mauser from 7.65 mm to 7.92 mm. Those rifles are original German rifles.

The K.Kale turkish mausers were made in Turkey. Turkey began to make parts and assemble these mausers there after 1940. There are many Turkey converted, you can tell by the different quality of build, the bolt shape, and a notch on the front of the receiver that was cut so the new rounds would fit. This site has more info: www.turkmauser.com/models.aspx

@@QuadCloudNine The Kirikale we’re a mix of German parts that were put together to make these rifles. The parts were recovered from broken rifles. I own one and even the safety of my rifle has he German imperial crown engraved in it. Now, some actions were built by the Turks but they were never able to achieve full production. Up to this point none of the websites can produce reliable information about what the collectors call the model “M-38” The Turks have manufactured and they still manufacture great reliable rifle and handguns. Especially today’s Tisa 1911, 45 which is a direct replica of a 1911 45 and is very reliable.American weapons from WW2 were also crude, you just have to look at the greaser M-3 and cry of how ugly the thing was. Not counting, the Springfield 1903s which the quality of the steel was so poor that their receivers cracked. At the end it ended up being one of the most iconic rifles of ww2 however the 1917 Enfield was by far a better rifle and was discriminated for being a “British” gun.

Ich habe bei Türkische Army noch ältere Model genutz. Wir haben unsere Mauser immer mit Sigaretten Alu Papier geschliefen und Polliert.

I'm about to pick one up from a buddy with the bayonet also. Now he said it chambered for 7mm and after shooting it, I'd have to wash it down with soap water since the ammo was corrosive.

The 8 mm ammo is becoming hard to find.I honestly prefer not to fire corrosive surplus ammo on mine.
