Like Moroni says, all things that are "good", are of God, and good are all things that testify and lead towards Christ, and yet so many people deny that this applies to literally everything that brings people unto Christ, the Book of Mormon being on of these things.

It's crazy how some people still say we are a cult. Like millions of members of church follow Jesus willingly and do so much good and live great life's of faith and goodness. "By their works ye shall know them." Miracles, healings, savings, goodness, testimonies of JESUS are in every single thing in the church of Jesus Christ of Latter day SAINTS...I guess those with eyes to see will see!

A good concept to decide whether a group is a cult is Steven Hassan's BITE model. Does the group control a) Behavior, b) Information, c) Thoughts, d) Emotions of its members.
Then you can think about church doctrine and policies, and how they would fall into these categories (Word of Wisdom, garments, church approved sources, doubt your doubts, don't trust non-members).

@@charlesmendeley9823 it is interesting how ppl put other ppl over God, this gentleman in the interview received a personal confirmation from Heaven, why is that so hard to understand and also to respect? Instead you somehow think that Steven Hassan would be over that, like he said in the interview, many Christians would "worship" a god that talked to his prophets BUT would reject the idea of a God that talks to a Prophet today. Now, a fair question would be, do you guys put your Prophet over God? The answer is NO, the Prophet just like the ones from old times, direct us to God, we do not worship the Prophet, we respect him and heed his counsel but we do not pray to him, we pray to God, our Heavenly Father and his Son even Jesus the Christ.

A wise and strong young man. A leader for sure! I'm so happy you did not allow your friends to keep you from reading the Book of Mormon. And the word " cult" gives people the idea that you are captive, brainwashed, evil. I've met thousands of kind people in my many years in the church. I've never been restricted, never been forced. Never been brainwashed. I've always been free to be me, only better. What an excellent interview. He's strong and smart. We need more like him.

I think the term cult applies to Mormonism more in regard to the association with the concept of church indoctrination. The members are fed so much BS doctrine they don’t realize it. They use similar religious terms like Jesus, but they define those terms very differently. Start with Jesus and look at what the deceptive Mormon Jesus is versus the real!living Jesus of the Bible who is our true Creator and Savior. This poor man should have listened to those wise friends he had.

There was a time I felt pretty lost, just looking for something real. I started reading the Bible from the beginning, hoping for some kind of answer. My roommates kept inviting me to their churches, but working night shifts made it almost impossible to go.
One night, this little blue book just caught my eye-it was like it pulled me in. I didn’t know what it was, so I asked my roommate, and he told me it was the Book of Mormon. That moment sparked something, both in my faith and in a friendship that’s lasted years. Now, even with miles between us, she’s still my best friend, all because of that blue book.

If you're more into the church for the warm fuzzies and the good feelings of friendship..then it's for you. If you want the living God and knowledge of his mysteries--then the bible is the way! How many people in the days of Abraham knew about his religion? How many people across the world during the time of the Jewish Kingdom didn't know about their religion? Even today, there are plenty of people in the world who have never heard of Christianity. Probably not in the West, but they're still out there. We don't believe God will just cast them away. He wants All of his children to come unto him. For plenty of people, that means hearing the gospel of Jesus Christ after they've passed on. There's still time before the resurrection and judgment day, and there's a lot of work to do in spreading the words of Christ.

Just to clarify - God doesn't stop talking to us after the book of Revelation. He continues to speak to us in the silence of our hearts, every time we read the Bible, every time we pray, He is always speaking to us. I also think it is dangerous to believe that God can just "reveal whatever He wants to us." because can God do anything He wants? Of course. But He is also consistent and will never contradict Himself. To believe in ongoing revelation means that God can just change His mind which is contrary to the nature of God. I am a catholic and I love my LDS friends, but we have to recognize the actual Truth and what makes sense when it comes to the nature of God because all of our salvation is on the line.
