Can't figure out for the life of me what i'm doing wrong with frost. I'm going in to a normal sized pull or one pack normally, icy veins/orb/blizz/comet/CoC/comet/orb/blizz/shifting power then Ice lance spamming (between multiple orb resets that I throw out as soon as it comes up & trying to keep blizz up - hoping that's right) until I have no procs for it where I move to glacial spike/frost bolt with insta flurry and ice lance/ice lance. Maybe it's because I don't know how to play around splinterstorm? But even though - I think - this is the right priority and I'm following your guides or watching what you do here, and I feel like I do the same thing, I look at the damage and I'm miles below the whole rest of the team with similar item levels. Definitely making mistakes now and then and clicking the wrong button priority here and there if I don't notice one is off cooldown. But overall feel like I'm doing the right thing, and even for my mistakes, the damage gap has never been so massive and noticeable for me in m+ before. And I'm in sometimes with people who don't even know what a kick is and they're out dpsing me when I feel decently practiced. I do way better in single target and raid than I do in m+ atm, or on bosses in m+ when spec'd for aoe & pack damage. I can't figure out if mistakes are just way more punishing, the packs aren't big enough, spending times panicking and jumping in for a db/bw when people don't have kicks on cooldown I just shouldn't do ever anymore since they don't kick/interupt anymore and mobs just go right back to casting the same spell, or if it's the fact I've mostly got all crit and haste and not enough or barely any mastery. Because sometimes I get like 3 or 4 orbs resetting before I even get to ice lance and I check before I start ice lancing to see where I'm at with every orb out, blizz going and not being overcast, icy veins at the start and feel I should be pumping... and I'm last in dps always bar some random occasions where I seem to not be but have done the exact same thing. :( Can't figure out what I must be messing up.
Are you tracking winters chill and splinter storm with weak auras? I found I do a lot better if I’m not spamming the hell out of ice lance unless I’m constantly procing winters chill, but also making sure I’m not using my other abilities until I’ve used the winters chill procs available otherwise you might be missing out on extra damage that way. I’m super super new to the game in general let alone the class, so take that with a massive grain of salt. If what I’ve said is wrong could someone also correct me bc I’m only in my second/third week playing.
I feel the same as well. I am way more geared than my dps team in mythic and I perform and output the least damage :( and I have playing as a frost mage since bc
@@ZappBrannigan.. Yeah I am, I have all the same WAs as manather and have since dragonflight start. Defo ice lance a bit too much here and there so hit without the proc now and then but overall not as much as feels it should kill my damage to that level. The only thing I don't have something for is splinter storm specifically and I just go off the winters chill etc WA for procs. I'm not 100% on what I want to do when a splinter storm is coming soon so don't fully understand what other WA I need extra from the ones I always used. All that being said, when I stopped caring about kicking for one m+ and stopped worrying about people missing them so going in to db or bw, my damage went up considerably the other day after this post. So the down time really was causing big issues for me but I really like to kick casts tbh 😅. Hit m+ all day and it really varied based on downtime for going in to closer range more. Raid damage and parse still abysmal though and needs practice.
Hey Manather, really love your M+ PoV vids, just had a small suggestion. Was curious if you would ever consider narrating over them, similar to your rank1 queen video? Especially in circumstances like this video where you are trying new talents. Really been considering getting back into frost, and you're kinda the only resource I trust on the subject.
Playing with frostbite may be the only way to go higher than some melee e.g ret ? As you said sometimes even with 4-5 orb up at same time they still outdps mage
I think mage should do more dmg, like common you smashing buttons near perfect, 624 ilvl. If you were retri or frost dk it will be 2mil+ or more but it's much easier to play (don't care about gcd movement and so on)
Thanks for your vids! I have tried the wowhead fire frostfire aoe build and it performs actually pretty decent to my opinion. Also the visuals are quite nice. As you are showing rarities / niche builds would you may be consider also presenting the Forstfire Fire AoE build soonish :). All the best!

Damn, I'm playing almost the same, however I do somewhere around 20% less damage overall - I have crappy trinkets, can't drop the Silken Court and Arakara one :( I always wondered - when you use your Comet Storm, do mobs need to be frozen when they land on them or you just need to have the Fingers when the Comet cast goes off? I don't understand how that works - it is affected by the Fingers of Frost, however it does not consume it? I use the Freeze Cone of Cold combo, but I wonder if the freeze is necessary (I sometimes drop Comets followed by Ice Nova and I wonder of it's needed as well xD)
Do you mean Winter's chill? Fingers of frost shouldn't be benefitting comet storm. Every comet from comet storm checks whether the target is currently frozen. Winter's chill conveniently isn't consumed by comet storm damage, which is why it's so potent to put that debuff on all of the mobs. And yes, you can use ice nova, frost nova, or pet freeze to shatter the comet storm, but just know that some of these freezes can break from damage before the entire storm can hit. Splinterstorm frost can be pretty difficult to play well. You really have to using your ice lances properly around splinterstorm occurring.
@@Erosis It explains a lot, thanks! Yeah, I've read somewhere that Fingers of Frost affect the Comet Storm and was wondering if it was bs ever since :D Do you happen to know, if using the Comets, Cone of Colding the mobs to reset it and give them 1 stack of Winter's Chill, and then use the Comets Again - does this Cone of Cold affect first and second Comets use? It seems like it should by design, but I'm always confused if those spells make a "check" when they are casted or when they land/deal dmg, because Frost Bolt into Flurry into Ice Lances do so when they are casted (travel time)
@@Straggler8 yes, if you are quick enough, you're initial cone of cold will put a winter's chill in the target that will benefit both comet storms entirely. Comet storm - > cone of cold (while fist comets are falling) - > comet storm
