    Beautiful story. For those who doubt, sneer at the courage and determination of a French soldier defending home ground this is only one of many examples. Also, kudos to the German forces who treated them with the honour and respect that they deserved. The Patton connection ? Wow ! Thanks team for an engaging post .

    Being "green" and untested can be an asset (in some cases) simply because those cadets didn't know they should have been _crushed_ right from the start...and, strangely, when you really don't know, some amazing and unpredictable things can happen! \m/

    I never really knew of this.. When I used to watch The Military Channel (Because that was my only source) it was always about Germany as if they were the only one fighting.. and I began calling it the Adolf Hitler channel because it pretty much talked about him and battles of Germany. I only learned of a lot of this stuff through channels like this and I learned a lot of other facts from a band called Sabaton.

      they Lost the war because of unorganized leadership political & military, some units were very good ,tank unit's were way better than Germans but again old plans don't work in a up to date mobile war ,they were out mobilized

    • @ericroger926
      @ericroger926 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, very poor and outdated strategy from France army command who was conducting a new era modern war with WWI concepts. An example ? The HQ in Vincennes castle did not even have radio communication. They were sending messengers by motorbikes or by pigeons !!! Another example ? French army had better quality tanks than Germany but instead of creating armoured units they disseminated them in infantry divisions … French army was not bad at all but was so poorly commanded …

With that being said, war now is 100% different than it was in WW2. Most soldiers today have no idea of the sacrifice the men and women before them dealt with. Watch a battle from 1943 compared to what battles have become these days. There's no comparison. War is still hell, was just a more brutal hell back then.

    "They could conquer the sky" said Hitler, about his troops. But not the Soviets. Hitler's hubris got the better of him, time after time. HE was actually entrusted with the defence of White ethnic Europe, but he blew it. And now "Europistan" is paying the price. (My dad survived the war with shrapnel wounds, & his 19-year-old brother was killed. I said to him numerous times, over a few beers, "Why the hell did you GO? You & your brother? I'd have told them where to stuff their war. You were being sent to kill other young men, or to BE killed.")

    • @froot6086
      @froot6086 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Charles-k9g5y I mean for ww1 the united states joining the war shortened it by a huge amount. The French were on the verge of breaking by the time period of 1917. The reason why we came "late" was because our country felt it is stupid to send American kids off to a European war for absolutely no reason at all, which makes sense. Exactly the same reason why America came "late" in ww2, we didnt think it was bright to send our youth off to other european war just like we did earlier which had huge amounts of casualties. We actually kept Britain in the fight before we even joined the war with lend lease and huge amounts of food.

    • @Charles-k9g5y
      @Charles-k9g5y ปีที่แล้ว

      @@froot6086 -- like I said taking credit for coming late. Land of the brave, what a crock. It had more to do with making money. In WW1 the Germans were already on their back foot. In WW2 the Russians did more fighting then the rest of us.
