- Thank you for joining us again at The Little Dexter Homestead, where we seek to honor the Lord in all that we do.
This week's video has Amélie showing us how to make a simple, natural, homemade cough syrup. No unpronounceable chemicals in this one, just simple ingredients you may find at your local market.
Ingredients:
1 jar Raw Unpasteurized Honey
1 large (preferably hot) Onion
1 empty Jar
Dice the onion. Fill the empty jar 1/5th of the way with onion. Pour honey until 2/5ths full. Add onion until jar is 3/5ths full. Top off with honey. Let mixture sit sealed at room temperature for 24 hours. Pour honey mixture into a container of your choice while straining out the onion pieces. Refrigerate and use as necessary!
Amélie is also asking for feedback and ideas from you, our wonderful viewers. Please let us know what sort of things you would like to see from us in the future and feel free to ask questions about us.

♥️
Id say if you take it before church dont pray closely for someone. Thats why we have mints available. If we rinse the onions after we cut them it cuts down on the thing that irritate our eyes and shnoz. I have done it and it really works. I love the message and prayer. Amen. It is written, Adonai is a shield to those whose lives are blameless. I just read that yesterday. Thankyou and God bless you all. 😊
Amen. Thank you for sharing 🤗

Appreciate getting this recipe for cough syrup. We have bought cough syrup in years past and have been wanting a good homemade syrup. Thank you. I wear glasses and still have trouble with onions. If the onions are chilled they do not bother me as much. But if they are at room temperature they make my eyes tear up.
You are full of knowledge, thank you for sharing this trick! Glad you appreciate the recipe :)
Yeah onions on the eyes are never easy. When I worked at a restaurant I was tearing up so bad cutting 50 onions up. I got desperate and put saran wrap around my head and over my eyes. Of course my eyes were smashed open if you can imagine how that would look lol. A fellow employee upon seeing me said, Oh my word! I just had to laugh.
@sarahrickman6609 Oh! You made me laugh 😂
Look good 😊 were can i find that kind of honey 🍯 please and congratulations on your baby ❤
Thank you! 😊 Depending on where you live, any natural food store usually carries some of that honey. Even regular food store might have raw honey on their shelves. Hope you can find some!
@ thanks for replying 🥰😊to me
Thank you for saying thank you! 😊
Question, I was wondering could you still use those onions after? I know honey never goes bad, but it is preserved by the honey. That could really bring something sweet to a dish that you use both onion and sugar in.
That’s a good question - I would say of course those oignons can be reused. They might not be as powerful but you are right, it could bring something sweet to a dish. Thank you for your comment :)
