Because these items are mail-order and we can't try them on before a purchase, these videos are absolutely brilliant! Thanks David for providing a really helpful service.
I bought this polo as soon as Daniel made it available. I am 6’3” and 195. I bought a large and it is the best fitting polo that I own. It is a pique type fabric and you can see the holes in the weave if you look very closely. No, it is not see through. I do think this fabric is great for the summer as it is very breathable. However, I can definitely see it being a three season shirt. As James Bond did, it pairs nicely with a jacket. This fabric is really nice. The color is great. It is comfortable and not scratchy at all. It has a good amount of stretch and this works very well. It causes this shirt to always appear to be tailored. It seems to have a deep V, but I don’t think it is really that deep. I think it is a kind of optical illusion as it has no buttons as is normal for a polo. With no buttons it does open up a little more than normal. Having no buttons is one thing that makes this polo stand out because it is unique. I like hearing how these garments do as far as shrinkage when washing. I haven’t washed mine yet. This polo is very reasonably priced. As always, Daniel has knocked it out of the park with this one. This polo is very highly recommended by me.
It is a sweet looking shirt and Daniel Love's garments are always top quality! When I saw it up close at Gatherall (on several guys) I was really impressed by the fabric.
The polo is on point. I have a 42/44 chest and slim waist (v-shape..maybe u) and opted for the medium which fits perfect. Waiting for an exchange on the Enjoying Death shirt. I should have ordered my true size medium but following the sizing chart and comparing it with the Madagascar shirt, I went with the large and it was way too big. Shipping costs back to Australia was $50, but tailoring everything would have been just as much. So don't believe the lies....size DOES matter! *** got the return and the medium fit just about right. Threw it in was and dryer (not supposed to) for a few minutes and fits perfectly.
Because I am a fan of the craft of movie making, Spectre has always intrigued me. I think the opening sequence of this film to be amongst the best in the series. My only disappointment with this film and the major issues with the Craig series is the weak villain and of course he’s Blofeld Bonds most dangerous and best nemesis is the series. That’s why people rate this movie low. I am happy to see it and Quantum get more love as time goes by. Liked this frugal clip too!
David, your joy that you express in your videos makes me smile. Keep up the good work. BTW, who's the current favorite to replace Daniel Craig as James Bond? 🤔🫡
Oh man, I so struggle with thinking of $89 for a polo as a frugal item. I know we're talking about screen accuracy here. The NTTD Matera Jacket actually seems like a good deal though
In the books, Bond really did not have expensive clothes, wore short sleeve shirts, he despised laces . He clothes were well worn. In one book, M was critical of Bond's clothes. Do you know why the powers to be decided to make Bond "glamorous "? Even his car was bought used and even though a Bentley it was fairly plain. The cool cars came from MI6 car pool. Enjoy your stuff.
David love your passion for the Bond style- However, Bond and "Frugal" do not mesh. There are a ton of TH-cam vids of frugal choices, they don't come off very well. For example An $800 Tom Ford Polo (Price Back then) really cannot be compared to a lower tier brand, same can be said for the Brunello cuccinelli outfit and lucky you, that beautiful Dior Hommes in a serulion blue color. Moreover, his drinks, Chateau Mouton Rothschild ($1000 a bottle) etc. IMO I spent years following The Bond Lifestyle and also the chats when you went by the name "Mantis" When I was successful enough to afford the "Bond lifestyle" there really is no comparison like a tricycle racing an Aston Martin or how Vesper Told Bond to his face about his style: there are dinner jackets and there are DINNER Jackets, this is the latter- I need to know that you belong at that table"
Hi Dave, I've been an obsessive and massive bond fan since an early age. You do an amazing job here, and I will always appreciate your content and agree with most of your opinions. I have one burning question, which I think you'll appreciate... which bloody (excuse my French) Bond movie is the track in the first few minutes of this video from Q The Music from? I'll post after this message. I could ask them, but I was thinking about it for ages, and since I was watching one of your videos, I thought I'd ask. I have 100% faith in you, sir! 🤨😉
Great video. One thing I am currently doing is looking at shoes for lighter-coloured suits. Most of my suits are black or dark navy. I have to wear a lighter suit for a smart casual event. I am wondering what Bond would wear, perhaps even chukka boots. Perhaps David could do an episode on Bonds shoes/boots combos.
Excellent video! I agree with all of your points on fit. I live in New Zealand and the bulk of menswear available here is made in China and has a "relaxed" fit (or slouchy flabby fit). I have biggish shoulders which means I need XL or L otherwise the armpits are too tight but as I have a 30 inch waist there is a lot of slack around the tummy which means these sorts of shirts or tee shirts look like tents. Up to recently I NEVER bothered with polos as I just don't like wearing a tent or a blouse and they all invariably came with the "weakling" sleeve (the one that goes right down to the elbow to hide the lack of biceps haha . So i therefore go for tailored fits which of course are more expensive. Last year I found a brand called Rod and Gunn that do EXCELLENT polos with a decent fit and shorter sleeve.
I think I would Spectre more if it was wasn't for thst terrible yellow screen filter that's present throughout the movie. I feel the places and fashion in the film would be much more appreciated if you could seem them properly.
Quantum of Solace was the first time that the modern Bond really elevated itself on its own when it came to wardrobe. It was the most flawless wardrobe ever assembled. David’s early videos definitely bought the individual pieces to everyone’s attention but Tom Ford and Louise Frogley got it perfect. Still timeless and always will be. Casino Royale made the casual wear accessible. Skyfall wrecked the fit but the fabric and casual wear was phenomenal. Spectre also had some nice pieces but was the biggest disappointment in the series. TBE / AJB / Suits of Bond - these guy have been absolutely incredible in terms of sharing the details and I’m hoping Bond continues just so these guys can keep being awesome. Great Yoda impression David 😂
I do go along with the common wisdom that the single most important measurement for a casual shirt is the chest. David, what size would you recommend for a 39-40 chest?

QoS is definitely the best style film period.
That Spectre polo is sharp!

I'd love to see a side-by-side of this polo and the Magnoli version.
Why doesn’t Royale simply put a different sized label on the polo’s.
The x small tag is eliminated and it becomes Small. Etc etc.
I absolutely love, love, love this shirt! And David is correct size does matter!
Frugal Bond is great and Spectre is underated.
Would like to know how these frugal garments hold up to wearing and washing over time. Any updates about that?
To all the Bond fans out there, here's some new Bond music you can enjoy!

Would you recommend this one over the Magnoli one which is nearly half the price?
When talking about fit… how LONG is the piece? If you raise your arms up, will the piece ride up your gut?
Would you ever visit a tailor to have a refitting?

Great Vid David 🎉. I don’t know if you know, or if anyone has already said, but sadly matchless has closed 😢
If you really wanted the Spectre look, wouldn't you have to cover yourself and your surroundings in a rather ugly filter?
I am 6'4 230 lbs. Ordered the L. 43.5 chest 36 waist. Lets see how it fits.
At last another Frugal episode!

That small jacket fits right! And it’ll stretch..
Ship times from Australia?

Extra small or Small
Now I clearly see why I cannot stand or watch Daniel Craig's movies
