The most functional racing motorcycle ever made . Not an ounce of spare fat , simple push rod engine , tiny in size , 100 lbs less than its rival the 350 Manx Norton , with the same available power ( 40 bhp , the Manx , at the crankshaft , 38 bhp the Aer Macchi , but at the rear wheel ) just the same really ! The Ala D'oro 10 - 15 miles per hour quicker in a straight line , with better handling . No wonder Francis Beart said he'd been wasting his time for years with Nortons !
Miss my '67 H-D 250 Sprint... No ball of fire (85 mph..), but sweet handling.... $400 in 1970 from a neighbor inTampa... 6,000 miles on the clock.. Sold in 1975 for school money... Chicago is unsafe to ride in, anyway... So it goes... J.C.
It sure does play a nice tune.
Sweet as silk gear changes there.

He gets nowhere maximum revs , ( 8500 indicated on mine ) but I don't blame him , the price of spares these days !
OH, he got up to 8.5 after a bit there....
AFTER he was passed....
Got the bit in the teeth for a go!
