I agree, nakakalito ang mga route ng jeep/mini bus rito kasi may sari-sarili silang routa kaya challenge talaga sa tourist pag mag diy ka pero di ka mawawala kasi ambabait at matulungin ang mga ilongo.
Have you experienced traffic in Iloilo City? Did you compare the traffic in Metro Manila with the one in Iloilo? Have you seen provincial buses or jeepneys in the city? Just imagine the traffic if jeepneys from Molo, Villa, Manduriao, Lapaz and Lapuz would ply their routes up to Jaro? And imagine the traffic. With the system in Iloilo, was it not that your travel is faster?
BTW, mangoes in Guimaras Island are one of the best if not the best in the Philippines. Try their mango pizza as well. Sa Iloilo City, try to go to Tatoys if you are into fresh seafood.
As far as the whole Philippines is concern.. the best mangoes are in Guimaras... But ask the Ilonggos.. they will usually tell you they prefer the LEON, ILOILO mangoes.

And from Molo Plaza, you can just walk for 5 minutes at Locsin to get to Esplanade 2, and from there have access to all the 11 Esplanades, 10 kilometers all beside the IloIlo River. Also explore the yet unopened but already being used as jogging areas by residents , from Molo Plaza - the SUNSET BOULEVARD and the DONGON CREEK ESPLANADES AND BIKING LANES.
