Yeah. Immediately what came to mind is comparing something like this to The Hangover and its somehow worse sequel. I never get to really know the characters in the Hangover, and therefore I absolutely hate them because they have no redeeming qualities. Then the film just proceeds to show you wacky situations over and over and over. It's not funny or interesting. Its just like oh look here's a tiger and here's mike tyson. Isn't it fun and wacky how crazy these situations are? I absolutely hate it, and the braindead fans of it as well. Napoleon Dynamite on the other hand, takes you in to the lives and feelings of the characters. There's nuance. Subtlety. Every aspect of the situation is felt. Napoleon Dynamite takes its time and makes love to you. The Hangover tries too hard to get you in the sack, humps your leg for a minute, and its pathetic performance is done.

Brilliant. One of my absolute favorite films of any kind ever. I adore it. It leaves me happy yet melancholy and nostalgic and full of emotion; as does Napoleon Dynamite also. So inspiring to me and my films. Long live Jared Hess.
As a kid, me and my little sister loved this movie. When we were done with a movie we always went through the special features and we watched this a couple times, comparing it to the full film, a little disappointed, a little unnerved by the differences but altogether grateful to know how the masterpiece Napoleon Dynamite was conceived.
This is one of my favourite movies of all time. I think Pedro was better portrayed in the later version - nerds are supposed to be more passive than appeared here. This version was a little more slapstick, the later version is cerebral.
Wow…I straight up never knew about this until just tonight when my recommendations just slapped this in my face. It’s like watch the a favorite movie from a completely different universe and time period. Amazing.
The natural instincts for anyone watching this short film is to compare this to the full length feature film. But this is the predecessor and the drawing board for characters and a story that will live on forever. I enjoyed both this and the film. I think Pedro in the movie had a more mellow personality and a bigger impact on the movie - something that I liked even better than the Pedro+Gilbert combo here. Also, the brother Kip, the uncle Rico and Grandma, and Napoleon's love interest (forget that girl's name), Rex Kwondo, Lafawnduh were all great additions to an already great story. Hell of a short film. There's no wonder why it made it to theatre. So good to be reminded again of this memory thank you to who it may concern. I seen the film a few times. One time was at a camp on the projector screen. The place was old so it added to the nostalgia of the film. The next morning there was a girl taped to the tree outside the mess hall. Added even more to the experience. That whole year was bomb.

A must see for all movie buffs. It’s a must classic. Will become even more so with years ahead…. A Canadian film buff.
It’s been a while since I’ve seen this. I originally watched in on a dvd copy of Napoleon Dynamite and I never understood why it was there. But it’s good to get context as to why it exists.
This is still equally iconic.

I had a really good friend Jeff Berger who used to tell me stories about when he was in college and was in class with the guy who wrote this. He made a film called boilermaker. I’ll never forget that dude.
