I’m very much anxious about starting law in sep seeing all these videos on YT where law students talk about stressing out and isolating, is it really as all-consuming as people say it is? And how is first year free time-wise?
a law degree is definitely a lot of work but only because of how much there is of it. you will be absolutely fine if you can figure out how to sift through the material to get the main ideas! free time in first year is all about where your priorities lie - i did virtually no work until exam season in first year because i wanted to focus on my extracurriculars instead, but if you want to do spring weeks/summer vac schemes in second year then you should dedicate more time to academics. depending on which uni you are going to, first year does not count towards your final degree (for me, i just had to pass) so if you take advantage of that you can have as much free time as you want! overall, it definitely has not been all-consuming for me and it does not have to be for you either - uni is about so so much more than studying! i hope that this helped with some of your anxieties :)
@@chloehunkin thanks for the kind words! :) I’m glad you’re finding it manageable. Do you intend to pursue law after your degree (as in becoming a lawyer) or are you thinking about considering other careers?
