-- About this video --
Today we are jumping on a bus from Wellington City Centre in New Zealand and heading over to Miramar, the home of Weta Studios, Weta Cave and the Weta Workshop!
Weta are the props and special effects team behind huge movies and TV shows, most famously The Lord of the Rings and Avatar, so visiting the Weta Workshop is a must for a Lord of the Rings in New Zealand experience. #realmiddleearth
We arrive at the free portion of Weta’s offerings in Miramar, The Weta Cave. At the Weta Cave you can take a look in their mini museum of Lord of the Rings props and figurines. There is also a behind-the-scenes video to explain the work that Weta Studios and Weta Digital do.
For a more in-depth look at Weta’s work, we join a Weta Workshop Tour which takes us to one of their prop rooms and has windows looking into Weta workers creating props for their next movie. The Weta Workshop Tour allows no photography or filming but it’s a great insight into the movie industry.
After our Weta Workshop Tour, we head on one more tour to see how miniature effects are made with the Weta Thunderbirds Are Go tour. Although we don’t know much about the Thunderbirds Are Go! TV show, we are surprised to be amazed by the miniature worlds created by the Weta New Zealand team. We might even go as far as to say that it was our personal favourite Weta Tour of the day!
So what do you think of the Weta Workshop Tours in Wellington? Would you add the Weta Cave or Weta Workshop Tours to your New Zealand bucket list?

I live in Wellington and love Weta Cave. Ive been many times!
Its a wonderful
Shop!
They dont have that 20 min film any more since Covid
I like how they change exhibits all the time
That's fantastic to hear you're a fan of Weta Cave in Wellington! It's indeed a special place for those who appreciate creativity and craftsmanship in the film industry.
It's a shame that the 20-minute film isn't available anymore post-Covid, but it sounds like Weta Cave continues to offer a lot to its visitors.

New Zealand is on the top of my bucket list! I'm a big fan of Weta Workshop and Peter Jackson 💕
I'm poor so i will never be able to see, in person, the most BEAUTIFUL land on Earth 😦
Yes the LOTR movies really show New Zealand landscapes a lot!
Oh I live there, it is very pretty but not as good as you think 😅
We went to Stonestreet studios and were chased out haha
Hey, i just wanna thank you guys for making a way better video memory of this place than i did when i was there hahaha i really loved remembering my exchange with it. So much love, guys xx
Haha it is quite tricky to film anything at the Weta caves :( Thanks for the lovely comment Emily, it means a lot to hear from other travellers :)
I been to Weta Workshop :)
Nice, did you do the Weta tour or the Thunderbird one?
@@NZPocketGuide both :)
Nice! What did you think of the Thunderbirds tour? That must have been your dream tour!
BackPakerGuide.NZ it was great :)
My Favourite part in the Weta Workshop in Wellington is Peter Jackson's King Kong
Yeah it is great! 😂
Was there a lot of walking involved on the tour? Asking for someone with mobility issues, but not in a wheelchair. Thanks
You will be on your feet all the time, but you won't cover much ground, just walk, stop, talk, walk, stop talk etc... I hope that helps :)
one question if you go there we are allow to use my camera video/photos/;;;;if not I thing it is not worth it to go if yes I plain to go in 3 months let me know thank you.
Hey there, as you can see from our video, for obvious copyright reasons you are only allowed to film and take pictures in the gift-shop and mini museum, for the tour itself, it's camera off!

That went too fast guys, there was no time to take a look at any of the stuff.
Oh sorry Eric, since we couldn't film inside we though we'd film quickly the free museum :)
@@NZPocketGuide Thanks anyway and I'll definitely go there myself before I die.
But it sais the collectibles are made in China? Are they now created by hand by the people at weta or in a factory in China? Or is maybe just the packaging made in China
A lot of replicas are made in China but there are some locally made miniatures available, they are much more expensive though.
NZ Pocket Guide thanks for your reply yes I Heard- only the master swordsmith swords are made at weta everything else is made in China based on their Prototyp
