Nice to see you getting some contract work at Sands. I flew the G1159, G-IV, G-V, and GVI for over 10,000 hours. I certainly miss flying the 550. Enjoy!
Gear Down,, how long have you been typed rated in the Gulfstream and do you do your Sim training at Flight safety? Watching you do this is amazing and Staying way ahead of your procedures and you both are Top Notch Professional Pilots
Thanks for the awesome question. I have been type radio on the G4 for four years and the G5 series for three years. I do all of my training at CAE. I’ve never been to a flight safety facility but for this year‘s recurrence, I may be doing flight safety. Thanks for the compliment!
They were just coming out with the G550 when I worked there. I remember a buddy of mine up stairs in engineering called me and said Greg Norman was flying in to look over his new G550. So, I loaded up my clipboard with some papers so I'd look like I was doing something important, and wandered over there. All the head honchos had their noses so far up his butt, you couldn't hardly get near him.
Noticed at 100 ft the Captain pulled the throttle all the way back? Is that typical for a G550? Normally on larger planes we pull the levers back slowly to idle at around 30-50 ft for the flare. Just wondering
Surprised about the location of that the scroll button on your checklist. In my humble opinion it should have been located somewhere more to the right and lower so you could use your right hand to scroll that checklist. That way you would have a better overview of the cockpit and use your left hand to work the different items. But what do I know, I don’t have any G-experience. Love your videos, looking forward for the next one, thanks for the ride.
On landing and TR deployment the action is swift and fluid. When stowing the TR the captain made incremental movements of the TR levers until completing the action. Is this normal procedure? Surely they are either deployed or stowed with no intermediate position.
One thing I noticed, the left seat's PFD has a crossbar FD and the right seat's PFD has a V bar FD. So does Guflstream's avionics allows both PFD to have a different style of FD?
The last 4 seconds of flight before touchdown while the other pilot is pic Is that the hardest part of aviation, once you have your experience and your mate has experience. Those last 4 seconds mean EVERYTHING. No.. Yes..

@@gear_down no prob. When I was 23 I started taking flying lessons at KSRQ. Right after my 20 flight hour I got my lady at the time pregnant. Priorities took over and I never finished. Major differences Size: The G550 is larger than the G4. It can typically seat up to 19 passengers, while the G4 can seat up to 16. Range: The G550 has a longer range than the G4, meaning it can fly further without stopping to refuel. The G550 can fly up to 6,750 nautical miles, while the G4 has a range of up to 4,220 nautical miles. Speed: The G550 is also faster than the G4. It has a maximum speed of Mach 0.885 (around 676 miles per hour), while the G4 has a maximum speed of Mach 0.88 (around 673 miles per hour). Price: The G550 is generally more expensive than the G4, due to its larger size and longer range. Overall, the G550 is a more advanced and capable aircraft than the G4, with a longer range, higher speed, and greater seating capacity. However, the G4 is still a popular and reliable private jet that can meet the needs of many travelers

@@gear_down Usually flying people at that level, they're worried about it looking unprofessional. I had a friend flying for a Vegas helicopter tour company and he had a couple of tats on his arms, and they made him cover up with a long-sleeve shirt. I disagree. This is about a different style of corporate AVIATION so should include as much flying stuff as it does 'the other stuff'. Surely they are either deployed or stowed with no intermediate position.
He’s just being gentle with the controls no need to slam them down to stow them. Deploying u want them out quickly though.
So what would happen if you didn't meet the minimums? Do you have to put on full power, take away the flaps and fly to another airport?
Go around and try again.
