Sir, could you please clarifying of my prolonged doubt sentence is here. "He is survived by his wife and two children" what is the exact meaning of the sentence. What is my doubt that sentence in simple present. It is commonly used in magazines for demise person. I am looking forward to hearing from you.

He is survived by his wife and children.
(Survive means alive; not dead)
The above sentence is in the passive voice.
In active voice it will read like this: His wife and children survive him.
Th sentence does not say openly that he is dead. But it says his wife and children survive, that is, they are alive. Does it say that he is alive? No. So, the inference is he is dead. When he dies, his wife and children are alive. So, he is dead leaving behind his wife and children. In other words, he is survived by his wife and children.
Hope it is clear now.
