This season finale was crazy. Elinor betrayed Jules by killing Theo (in self defense though but the things she said to Jules when they were fighting in her room made it worse). Jules betrayed Elinor by getting her arrested. Jules betrayed Cal by turning her brother. Cal betrayed Jules by pointing the spear to her heart (which she previously said was safe with her) and said she'd try to find a way to kill her (after previously saying she'd never hunt her). Talia betrayed Jack by saving Theo. I can't wait for season 2.
I'm honestly impressed by how good this show performed despite the hate it got, the low budget and almost zero promotion. Netflix really said here's one for you Sapphics, do what you must to get it a second season.
If Netflix doesn't do a season 2 they are idiots cause they do sequels to actual bad show/movies and this is a good show with a small budget who actualy did very well in terms of views and social media attention.

There’s a theory… Given the theory that love’s heartbreak can cause a Legacy vampire to die is canon, do we think the reason why Juliette walked up to that silver-tipped spear Cal pointed at her is because she was taking a gamble? If Cal didn’t love her, she couldn’t have killed her. But if she still did, she could have. Was Juliette gambling her life to know the truth because Cal wouldn’t answer her then and there? She confessed that she loved her but Cal didn’t return the ‘I love you’ back. I felt like the only way she could know for sure was if Cal did actually try to stake her and despite her dying, she’d die with a smile on her face because she’d know she still had Cal’s heart while her own was swiftly becoming still. Least she’d know, you know? Only a lovesick hopeless romantic like Juliette would play that card and stake her actual heart to know the truth of Calliope’s level of love for her. If it’s canon that love’s heartbreak is the key to killing a Legacy, of course. But I’m pretty much convinced it is with all the intricate hints all throughout the entire season. Juliette knows Cal is very close to figuring it out. And it goes along with how Margot turned Sebastian and how Juliette turned Theo. It had to be through love. So if that’s the key to creating a Legacy, then surely the key to destroying one is the same. Through love. But obviously it’s the heartbreak that kills them. Emotional heartbreak becomes physical heartbreak. Because we all know that deep grief can literally kill and especially with a monster that is highly sensitive. As you can see, I’m very intrigued by this theory. And you know the most poetic conclusion to this entire show would be to find out that what we know as a “monster” can only be born or die through what is least monstrous. That it can only be pure love that can either create or destroy a Legacy vampire. I can’t take credit for coming up with this theory. Only adding to it. It was @porte8a2 on Tumblr that came up with it initially. Their post for it is what made me want to add to the theory because it could very well be canon.
Watched the entire break up scene over again and there’s just something in the way Sarah Catherine plays Juliette’s reaction to Cal threatening to stake her with the silver-tipped spear. I can’t put my finger on it but it’s a sort of taunting or challenging reaction. It’s as if she’s saying to her “you can try it, but if you really don’t love me anymore, it won’t do anything.” Or even more ambiguously… “You won’t succeed in killing me unless you still love me.” It’s a challenge to Calliope but it’s a gamble for Juliette because Juliette already knows what Cal doesn’t but would immediately realize if she chose to thrust that spear into Juliette’s heart. And I really want to get into a huge ass discussion over this because it is so fascinating if it is the truth. Watch the scene again and pay attention to Juliette’s reaction right after Calliope points that spear at her. As well as the way Juliette walks into the spear the next moment, choosing to risk her actual life just to know not only if Cal still loves her… but if she loves her enough not to stake her even if she feels like she wants to. Watch the way Sarah Catherine plays those moments. She’s challenging Calliope but she’s also gambling her heart by surrendering to Cal’s action. And you’ll probably think “But wait, Cal staked her in episode 1 and she didn’t die.”… and it’s true… she healed from the stab wound. But here’s the thing… Cal wasn’t in love with her then. So what’s the betting that the start of Season 2 Juliette is injured the way Sebastian was when Jack staked him and she’s not healing fast enough? Not even as a full Legacy. And not when she was even staked at all. Because it’s not the actual staking that kills them. It’s the aftermath. It’s the HEART BREAK. “Where you go, I go.”… remember? In other words,… it’s not the action, it’s the consequence. I’m calling it now. I predict that this is the canon conclusion. and yo… it’s a romance so it would totally make sense for them to do something like this. Let love be the doing and the undoing.

Yes, First Kill has gotten way more hours viewed than Heartstopper, which was renewed for 2 seasons. So, First Kill should be good, but you never know with Netflix. We just need the announcement already! 🗣️

Theo's situation sucks, but at the same time, it mostly sucks because his family are what they are. If they weren't slayers, they could see that this is a workable problem. Sure, Theo won't be able to walk in the sun or eat human food, and that sucks (ha-ha), but they can get around the bloodlust by just filling up blood bags and letting him feed on them whenever he needs to. They can still have him in their life. But no, they're slayers, and so the only 'logical' conclusion is to destroy him.
The cringe they're talking about(the critics) is just the romance-genra. The only reason they don't see it as cringy in all their other shows in the genra is that those shows are straight, and that's not cringy to them(as most of the critics are cis-het). We(the queer community) can see that this falls perfectly within the regular cringyness of a romance show. The critics doesn't know what they're talking about, as they're not the target audience and should shut up.
I think every made vampire sees the snake (and it has nothing to do with being a legacy or not) as all vampires come from it in the end. Lilith was bitten by the snake in Eden and became the first vampire.
This episode destroyed me lol. Between Talia and Theo and Cal and Juliette, I was a mess! I agree, anyone who says the acting is bad on this show is just wrong. The acting is amazing! Some of the writing is of course corny but the acting is amazing. I really liked Heartstopper but I actually think I like First Kill more and they better get picked up for at least another season!
If we ever get a season 2, I think it should be based on Cal and Jules finding themselves, and then finding each other and instead of just jumping right into a relationship…..form an actual friendship, and then have that form into a relationship. While yes there are some couples that get together right away and stay together, that’s not always the case.

i think the severing turned Theo. Apollo told Cal "he was dead" outside Theos bedroom. and Theo woke up before Juliette bit him . and he had all those strange things happen during and after the severing .

me too it's also an betrayal from cal to the promise she did to juliette in episode 5, i will always be an hunter but i will never hunt you ! and episode 7 she say to juliette her heart is safe with her forever !
It’s also unfair to Jules because she kept saying that she never wanted to hurt anyone, but because she held off on girly feeding off of anyone for so long….it eventually overtook her, and she fed on Theo. She didn’t want to but it was too much for her. If Cal understood how hard that must’ve been for Jules, maybe they could’ve worked something else.
I really enjoyed this series. It had the vibe of Teenage Bounty Hunters w/Monsters. The humor helped set this apart. I love Caliette. I ship the Moms. Talia is my favorite character. I need S2!

My theory is all Legacies are connected by the Malkia snake. The Malkia is very protected. If you kill the Malkia, all legacies will die. The only 2 who won't are Oliver and Juliette who were not bitten by the Malkia.
Theo isn’t a legacy. He’s a vampire turned by a legacy, but unless he underwent the process Juliette’s dad went through with the emerald Malkea, he isn’t anything more than a regular vampire. Juliette’s dad wasn’t a legacy either, but Margot’s mom turned him into one using the emerald Malkea to save his life remember? It was episode 3 I think, but yeah if you remember that than it will make more sense to you.
@@Musikfurlife The dad did change tho. He started caring less. Before he was all worried about Elinor getting married against her own will, but in the end he didn’t care to take her out of jail. He changed a lot, became colder, and there were 2 moments where he lost control. Moment 1 was when he hate Margot’s mom, and moment 2 when he told Elinor she wasn’t invited to the meeting and his eyes glowed green in anger because she tried to challenge him. There is one more moment at the start when he picked up Juliette and Calliope. But yeah, in general, he got cold and is no longer as warm as he was in the beginning.
Been waiting for this reaction for long.. As always you never disappoint. We can say that the whole episode was a Roller coaster, from questions to shocks. I'm hoping to see a dark July and Cal in season 2 (snd I'll burn Netflix offices if they don't renew this show) BTW the legacy killer weapon is on the bar where Elinor drinks. It's sort of a wooden and iron daga. 😁
I hated this episode so much just because they broke up PS. So because Juliette turned Theo they hate Juliette and her family like did you want him to die or did you want him to live? Like choose
I don’t think it’s that, but you have to understand that she truly never wanted to hurt anyone. For her, the whole idea of sucking another human being’s blood is disgusting so she tried for the longest time not to do that by using blood pills. However…..blood pills are are basically another form of a drug, you can only use it for so long until you have to stop, and face what resulted in you using the pills to begin with. You could see throughout the show that anytime Jules would be near someone who’s blood was exposed to her……she started breathing heavily, and trying to stop herself from feeding. It was hard for her, and that’s a representation of so many people who’ve ever taken and been on drugs for a while….when they’re around the things that they know they need but don’t want, the temptation is there but they force themselves to refuse it. With her first actual kill from the creepy dead guy, she didn’t want to do that but she did it to save Cal and Ben…and part of her kind of enjoyed it because she could finally stop taking those pills. With Cal’s brother…..she truly never wanted to hurt him but it became too much for her.

I think Cal and Apolo took a long time to get home, so they can figure out what to say to Talia annd Jack (I don't think they would have just rushed home after what happened, they probably need time to process things)...so it gave Theo time to get home. I also think Theo didn't know he was turned, he probably just woke up in the bathroom and because he was compelled to forget by Elinor he didn't know what happened (like Apolo) so he just went home. In the first episode (i think) they said vamps can't digest human food, so I think Theo had a bad reaction to the food/he was triggered by the food he was eating and that is when he started turning into a proper vampire.

Still not fully convinced tho cause since the main reason cal and Apollo left the bar at that time was that it was getting late and the police would be more likely to question them, they surely didn’t spend too much time on the road? Plus theo would’ve had to walk seeing as they must’ve taken the car, meaning it would take him even longer to get home. But your point about the human food is really interesting I never thought about that!! I also found it strange about the fact that Theo called Cal “Callie”, it seemed significant at the time but it wasn’t mentioned again so idk
I accepted everything else in this show, including a man shallowing a whole woman. But I just lost my mind when they did not call an ambulance for Theo. WHY??? They let him bleed out for so long, and then they left him HIDDEN on the floor of a public bathroom not even dead. Whatever I was supposed to feel about Juliette's decision, I simply could not. I was like, is this an AU without emergency services? Cause y'all have got to tell me that.
I agree. It’s just simple things like that , that makes the show less than perfect, it’s just common sense, come up with a reason why neither Cal or Apollo did not call 911?? I mean why? Then just leave him there, and again did not check for a pulse? This is the second time Cal did not check if someone is really dead, she did the same thing with the guild guy. I mean if you guys are monster hunter, you should be familiar with when someone is dead. I know Theo is human but still they do a dangerous job , they have to know how to check when one of their own is injured. Let’s hope in s2 they can tighten up the writing a little bit more.

It goes against reason, but not just reason, you know? Also something way deeper. For whatever reason, that pushed me too far. Like, isn't that something we are conscious we need to affirm over and over, so when people panic, they can still think to do that, because it's so ingrained?

They’re not going to go with the obvious and common sense approach because that’s not interesting or entertaining enough to watch. Yes, in the real world, that would be the appropriate response but this is a fantastical world. It mixes metaphors and deals with things the hard way or the longer way because it’s fucking written for a young adult audience.

Yes, the relatability factor and representation is important but a scenario like this isn’t something a lot of teens are going to care much about - like I said, it’s not exciting enough to deal with Theo in a completely realistic or even human way. In Twilight when Bella gets bitten by a vampire, Edward doesn’t go call an ambulance either. Instead he attempts to suck the venom out of her. Obviously I understand that this isn’t the same situation in ‘First Kill’ but it begs the question why he didn’t simply call 911 straight away either. His attempt to help was in the immediate supernatural way. And I just don’t understand why a straight supernatural romantic teen drama can have those passes for being unrealistic and even cringey - but not ‘First Kill’. A lot of the criticism of ‘First Kill’ is about “what’s not in it” or “what doesn’t happen” rather than the content of the show itself and I just feel like it is unfairly and sometimes even invalidly criticised when a lot of young adult supernatural dramas are like this too.
Well.Elinor.embraces her Legacy unlike Juliette who doesnt really like being a vampire thats why they have different reactions. Ita a very complicated relationship.between Elinor and Juliette. Remember juliette.idolizes her and Elinor cares for her. I dont think Elinor has the power to compel anyone maybe she just manipulated oliver into doing what ever. If she can do it she should have compelled juliette many times to do what she wants.

They are the heart of the show and so it’s obvious that they’re gonna end up together when the show ends. I don’t believe there’s a second book? This show came out of a short story that ended with the pantry scene but slightly different. And I really believe Theo wanted to be turned because there’s no way that man wanted to die and not avenge his mother’s death when he was so close to finding the vamp that killed her and now he has a better chance of finding the murderer. He knew what he was asking of Juliette, it was his only chance at surviving.
That seems like a naive point of view. Don't worry there's gonna be character growth for all the characters as the seasons and episode progress(if we get another season). Besides, in the heat of the moment with Cal after Theo turned vampire escaped the house, Juliette didn't really get to explain herself properly to Cal and she was desperate trying not to lose Cal, that's why she takes a turn in the heated conversation and talks about love, that Cal can't just turn off her love for Juliette. She was really trying not to lose Cal but she did anyway, in that moment at least. My point is, this show has so much potential, its just getting started with the storyline and lets be real, Cal & Juliette's relationship is a real treat and I love that they get a lot of screen time. The show is a sapphic love story with an interesting storyline. Perfect. I love it. Give it a chance to develop if we get a season 2.

His mother was killed by vampires, I think turning into a vampire is probably the last thing on his mind. But as human when we’re injured our first thought is call 911. Watched the entire break up scene over again and there’s just something in the way Sarah Catherine plays Juliette’s reaction to Cal threatening to stake her with the silver-tipped spear. I can’t put my finger on it but it’s a sort of taunting or challenging reaction.
It’s as if she’s saying to her “you can try it, but if you really don’t love me anymore, it won’t do anything.”
Or even more ambiguously… “You won’t succeed in killing me unless you still love me.”
It’s a challenge to Calliope but it’s a gamble for Juliette because Juliette already knows what Cal doesn’t but would immediately realize if she chose to thrust that spear into Juliette’s heart. And I really want to get into a huge ass discussion over this because it is so fascinating if it is the truth.
Watch the scene again and pay attention to Juliette’s reaction right after Calliope points that spear at her. As well as the way Juliette walks into the spear the next moment, choosing to risk her actual life just to know not only if Cal still loves her… but if she loves her enough not to stake her even if she feels like she wants to. Watch the way Sarah Catherine plays those moments. She’s challenging Calliope but she’s also gambling her heart by surrendering to Cal’s action.
And you’ll probably think “But wait, Cal staked her in episode 1 and she didn’t die.”… and it’s true… she healed from the stab wound. But here’s the thing… Cal wasn’t in love with her then. So what’s the betting that the start of Season 2 Juliette is injured the way Sebastian was when Jack staked him and she’s not healing fast enough? Not even as a full Legacy. And not when she was even staked at all. Because it’s not the actual staking that kills them. It’s the aftermath. It’s the HEART BREAK.
“Where you go, I go.”… remember?

it’s not the action, it’s the consequence.

I predict that this is the canon conclusion.

Theo's situation sucks, but at the same time, it mostly sucks because his family are what they are. If they weren't slayers, they could see that this is a workable problem. Sure, Theo won't be able to walk in the sun or eat human food, and that sucks (ha-ha), but they can get around the bloodlust by just filling up blood bags and letting him feed on them whenever he needs to. They can still have him in their life. But no, they're slayers, and so the only 'logical' conclusion is to destroy him.

The cringe they're talking about(the critics) is just the romance-genra. The only reason they don't see it as cringy in all their other shows in the genra is that those shows are straight, and that's not cringy to them(as most of the critics are cis-het). We(the queer community) can see that this falls perfectly within the regular cringyness of a romance show.

I think every made vampire sees the snake (and it has nothing to do with being a legacy or not) as all vampires come from it in the end. Lilith was bitten by the snake in Eden and became the first vampire.
This episode destroyed me lol. Between Talia and Theo and Cal and Juliette, I was a mess! I agree, anyone who says the acting is bad on this show is just wrong. The acting is amazing! Some of the writing is of course corny but the acting is amazing. I really liked Heartstopper but I actually think I like First Kill more and they better get picked up for at least another season!

If we ever get a season 2, I think it should be based on Cal and Jules finding themselves, and then finding each other and instead of just jumping right into a relationship…..form an actual friendship, and then have that form into a relationship. While yes there are some couples that get together right away and stay together, that’s not always the case.

i think the severing turned Theo. Apollo told Cal "he was dead" outside Theos bedroom. and Theo woke up before Juliette bit him . and he had all those strange things happen during and after the severing .

It’s also unfair to Jules because she kept saying that she never wanted to hurt anyone, but because she held off on girly feeding off of anyone for so long….it eventually overtook her, and she fed on Theo. She didn’t want to but it was too much for her. If Cal understood how hard that must’ve been for Jules, maybe they could’ve worked something else.

Theo isn’t a legacy. He’s a vampire turned by a legacy, but unless he underwent the process Juliette’s dad went through with the emerald Malkea, he isn’t anything more than a regular vampire. Juliette’s dad wasn’t a legacy either, but Margot’s mom turned him into one using the emerald Malkea to save his life remember? It was episode 3 I think, but yeah if you remember that than it will make more sense to you.
@@Musikfurlife The dad did change tho. He started caring less. Before he was all worried about Elinor getting married against her own will, but in the end he didn’t care to take her out of jail. He changed a lot, became colder, and there were 2 moments where he lost control. Moment 1 was when he hate Margot’s mom, and moment 2 when he told Elinor she wasn’t invited to the meeting and his eyes glowed green in anger because she tried to challenge him. There is one more moment at the start when he picked up Juliette and Calliope. But yeah, in general, he got cold and is no longer as warm as he was in the beginning.
Been waiting for this reaction for long.. As always you never disappoint. We can say that the whole episode was a Roller coaster, from questions to shocks. I'm hoping to see a dark July and Cal in season 2 (snd I'll burn Netflix offices if they don't renew this show)

I don’t think it’s that, but you have to understand that she truly never wanted to hurt anyone. For her, the whole idea of sucking another human being’s blood is disgusting so she tried for the longest time not to do that by using blood pills. However…..blood pills are are basically another form of a drug, you can only use it for so long until you have to stop, and face what resulted in you using the pills to begin with. You could see throughout the show that anytime Jules would be near someone who’s blood was exposed to her……she started breathing heavily, and trying to stop herself from feeding. It was hard for her, and that’s a representation of so many people who’ve ever taken and been on drugs for a while….when they’re around the things that they know they need but don’t want, the temptation is there but they force themselves to refuse it. With her first actual kill from the creepy dead guy, she didn’t want to do that but she did it to save Cal and Ben…and part of her kind of enjoyed it because she could finally stop taking those pills. With Cal’s brother…..she truly never wanted to hurt him but it became too much for her.

I think Cal and Apolo took a long time to get home, so they can figure out what to say to Talia annd Jack (I don't think they would have just rushed home after what happened, they probably need time to process things)...so it gave Theo time to get home. I also think Theo didn't know he was turned, he probably just woke up in the bathroom and because he was compelled to forget by Elinor he didn't know what happened (like Apolo) so he just went home. In the first episode (i think) they said vamps can't digest human food, so I think Theo had a bad reaction to the food/he was triggered by the food he was eating and that is when he started turning into a proper vampire.

Still not fully convinced tho cause since the main reason cal and Apollo left the bar at that time was that it was getting late and the police would be more likely to question them, they surely didn’t spend too much time on the road? Plus theo would’ve had to walk seeing as they must’ve taken the car, meaning it would take him even longer to get home. But your point about the human food is really interesting I never thought about that!! I also found it strange about the fact that Theo called Cal “Callie”, it seemed significant at the time but it wasn’t mentioned again so idk
The acting was amazing even with such a low budget compared to Stranger Things etc.
I accepted everything else in this show, including a man shallowing a whole woman. But I just lost my mind when they did not call an ambulance for Theo. WHY??? They let him bleed out for so long, and then they left him HIDDEN on the floor of a public bathroom not even dead. Whatever I was supposed to feel about Juliette's decision, I simply could not. I was like, is this an AU without emergency services? Cause y'all have got to tell me that.
I agree. It’s just simple things like that , that makes the show less than perfect, it’s just common sense, come up with a reason why neither Cal or Apollo did not call 911?? I mean why? Then just leave him there, and again did not check for a pulse? This is the second time Cal did not check if someone is really dead, she did the same thing with the guild guy. I mean if you guys are monster hunter, you should be familiar with when someone is dead. I know Theo is human but still they do a dangerous job , they have to know how to check when one of their own is injured.
Let’s hope in s2 they can tighten up the writing a little bit more.

It goes against reason, but not just reason, you know? Also something way deeper. For whatever reason, that pushed me too far. And some part of my brain was like, shouldn't ya'll be reinforcing that people should call 911? Like, isn't that something we are conscious we need to affirm over and over, so when people panic, they can still think to do that, because it's so ingrained?

It’s a supernatural romantic teen drama show. They’re not going to go with the obvious and common sense approach because that’s not interesting or entertaining enough to watch. Yes, in the real world, that would be the appropriate response but this is a fantastical world. It mixes metaphors and deals with things the hard way or the longer way because it’s fucking written for a young adult audience.

I know it’s a supernatural teen drama, but they still need to make it relatable, at least the human characters need to be, they needed to give a reason why the humans in this scenario did not attempt to help him in any way. There are multiple instances in the show, where I gave them a pass, but that scene was pushing it. I actually really enjoy the show, and hope it gets a second season, and I hope they get the time and money, so they don’t have to cut corners like this.

Yes, the relatability factor and representation is important but a scenario like this isn’t something a lot of teens are going to care much about - like I said, it’s not exciting enough to deal with Theo in a completely realistic or even human way.
In Twilight when Bella gets bitten by a vampire, Edward doesn’t go call an ambulance either. Instead he attempts to suck the venom out of her. Obviously I understand that this isn’t the same situation in ‘First Kill’ but it begs the question why he didn’t simply call 911 straight away either. His attempt to help was in the immediate supernatural way. And I just don’t understand why a straight supernatural romantic teen drama can have those passes for being unrealistic and even cringey - but not ‘First Kill’. A lot of the criticism of ‘First Kill’ is about “what’s not in it” or “what doesn’t happen” rather than the content of the show itself and I just feel like it is unfairly and sometimes even invalidly criticised when a lot of young adult supernatural dramas are like this too.

Well.Elinor.embraces her Legacy unlike Juliette who doesnt really like being a vampire thats why they have different reactions. Ita a very complicated relationship.between Elinor and Juliette. Remember juliette.idolizes her and Elinor cares for her.
I dont think Elinor has the power to compel anyone maybe she just manipulated oliver into doing what ever. If she can do it she should have compelled juliette many times to do what she wants.

They are the heart of the show and so it’s obvious that they’re gonna end up together when the show ends. I don’t believe there’s a second book? This show came out of a short story that ended with the pantry scene but slightly different. And I really believe Theo wanted to be turned because there’s no way that man wanted to die and not avenge his mother’s death when he was so close to finding the vamp that killed her and now he has a better chance of finding the murderer. He knew what he was asking of Juliette, it was his only chance at surviving.

That seems like a naive point of view. Don't worry there's gonna be character growth for all the characters as the seasons and episode progress(if we get another season). Besides, in the heat of the moment with Cal after Theo turned vampire escaped the house, Juliette didn't really get to explain herself properly to Cal and she was desperate trying not to lose Cal, that's why she takes a turn in the heated conversation and talks about love, that Cal can't just turn off her love for Juliette. She was really trying not to lose Cal but she did anyway, in that moment at least. My point is, this show has so much potential, its just getting started with the storyline and lets be real, Cal & Juliette's relationship is a real treat and I love that they get a lot of screen time. The show is a sapphic love story with an interesting storyline. Perfect. I love it. Give it a chance to develop if we get a season 2.
