  • Hi gang
I was lucky to get this fantastic electro acoustic Tenor Uke from Roz at Christmas. I had been looking at the reviews of it for a long, long time and was impressed by what I saw and heard. I thought I'd add my own review as I hadn't seen any other review about string changing and how to insert the batteries properly...both essential things in my book.
You can probably guess from the video how pleased I am with this Uke....I think my others will just gather dust now ..... and I cannot believe this was all for £70!!....
I switched the high G string it came fitted with ( and it still sounded great!!) to a Fremont squeakless low G wound string as I prefer the Low G sound but that's down to personal choice.
If you were sitting on the fence thinking about adding this great Uke to your collection then I hope I've helped push you over into getting one....blame me......:)

Hi Graham, lovely pressure there!!! Mine are also Aklot recommended by my five year old nephew who lives in Camembert, where cheese comes from..Both acoustic tenor, first one with Low G string and second is the 8 string version, birthday present earlier in the year from my daughter who stole my concert uke and now does a little busking with her friends in Caen where she is at University..think I mentioned before........hugs from Normandie, Tony

I have an acoustic version of this ukulele. My wife gave it to me 7 years ago for a gift. The thing only cost around seventy dollars. Sounds very nice, plays very well.
I compared to a couple much pricier brands and really couldn't justify the extra money. I actually had a brace split a couple months after getting the uke. Aklot would have graciously warrantied the uke. I just couldn't bare the thought of exchanging for another, and knowing mine would probably be destroyed. So I got out some precision tools and wood glue and repaired the brace. Years past and the little ukulele is solid and sounds and plays as good as ever.
A quality, humble and joyous instrument. Thanks Aklot.

Thanks for your great comment Charles...I can honestly say if I'd have found this uke at the start of my uke life I wouldn't have bought the other 12+ I've had and saved a fortune ...oh well...that's life...👍😊🎵🎶💕

Excellent videos!! I have one these (non-electric) and it's just as you described with the solid top etc. I replaced my strings with FREMONT Black Line Low G of which I find have slightly more tension and like you, wondered why the strings would not come out as they were indeed tied together? I tried placing a knot on the end of the strings with no success so I now use the brass balls off of some plain guitar strings? Now I'm thinking of going for the electro one as they are still good value at £69.99 from you know who? Merry Christmas!

I'm sure you won't be disappointed Fenella...it's a great instrument as it is...I just prefer a low G string so changed to a Fremont Low G squeakless low G string as I love the bass sound. Changing strings is trickier due to them being tied together through the body...but Aklot have a string changing video on TH-cam....and please give me a shout if you ever have any problems ..happy strumming ..🤩🥰

Hi there. I got the AKT 26 acoustic a few weeks ago. Like you, I was more than pleased with the uke. Love especially, the clarity of the strings. With many ukes, the A string can sound flat and lifeless, not this one though, intonation is great with every string. So, I see this AKET electro model as being uke number 11 in my collection. Probably a low G for me on the electric also.

    • @EagleUkes

I've just stopped playing me Aklot now David to reply to you...I can't put it down...haha...it is a terrific ukulele and I'd definitely recommend the electro acoustic version for when you want to be plugged in....the only thing I do is I set the bass control high and the mid and and treble much lower...the same on my amp settings...this gives a wonderfully rich sound which I prefer... Obviously folk can set the levels to the sound they like...but just shows how effective the preamp control buttons are .....I still don't know how they produce a superb uke at this price but long may it last...:)
Sending you my best wishes and enjoy your playing.

Hi Graham, I have an Aklot Acoustic Concert uke and recently changed the G string for a low G. I watched your review and the potential difficulties changing a string. I tried a pair of pliers but couldn't get them in and round under the sound I am a keen angler and have a pair of bent tip forceps that I use to unhook fish. I used these and they did the job of grabbing the string through the sound hole so i could tie the knot. If you have any fishing friends its worth a try borrowing some, worked for me. Best regards Sid

So, when you replace your strings, are you tying A knot in each string? Aklot shows they thread the first and fourth strings through to the inside of the body, and then tie those two together. Then do the same with the second and third strings? I just bought the Allot tenor with pickup, but haven't unboxed it yet.

    • @EagleUkes
      @EagleUkes  ปีที่แล้ว +1

Hi...Aklot do tie 2 strings together but I just tie a big double knot on each individual string which I prefer.
Can you let me know the position of the jack on your instrument as they inform me they have moved it from the original position. I'm sure this is factory mistake and suggest you return it for a full refund if this is the case...they say they are going to correct this after April when they have sold all the models with this mistake ( in my opinion ).

My first uke was a concert version of Aklot electric ukulele. I’ve since bought . . . well, let’s just say far too many other ukuleles ranging from about £30 - £450. I still absolutely adore my Aklot. In fact I’ve bought an acoustic tenor version set up with a low G second hand on eBay for £40 to join the gang. I don’t understand why you don’t hear more about these. I can’t think of another I’ve come across that I’d recommend more highly at this price point & it certainly competes well with others 3 times the price. I’m pleased to see someone else rates them as highly as I do & is sharing that information.

    • @EagleUkes
      @EagleUkes  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Hi Mark...sorry I just noticed your comment regards intonation on a uke. If your uke has the correct set up then the intonation should be good throughout... this Aklot tenor has amazing intonation as checked against me tuner all the way up the frets on all strings...this is amazing on such a cheap uke. Usually cheap ukes have poot intonation after the 7th fret. I built a tenor uke from a cheap kit which had intonation probs till I set the string height correct ly ( cheap ukes can have the string height too high leading to poor intonation )...I still had to put a matchstick at a slight angle at the nut on my kit made uke...you'll see it in other videos where I use this uke...it correct ted the intonation a lot but not completely.... far better to buy a good quality uke set up from a music shop...or...take a bit of a chance on one of these Aklots...I read all the reviews it has more than lived up to what I had read about it....:)

Hey Graham, I ordered my Aklot electric/acoustic tenor and got it the other day. One thing I would like to warn your viewers of is, they moved the cable jack. Yours is on the butt end...mine is positioned counterclockwise from the butt around the bottom just past the fat part where it starts to narrow in the middle. I think it's a terrible location because it's right where it sets on your leg when playing while sitting! I did plug in a straight connector, and it CAN still be played w/ a little adjustment to your hold. I am going to get a 90 connector that should hopefully lie flatter against the body.
Mine did have a little bit of a crack on the top, near the butt end. Couldn't see it, but I felt it, then looked real close to see it. It doesn't seem to affect anything and I sent them some pics to see if I can get a 'blem' discount. I don't think it's worth sending back for. It sounds pretty good. I didn't like it initially, the C string had a lot of buzz. But as I played it and the strings settled, it seems to have gotten much better after 3 days. If I recall, that was also the case w/ my other 2 ukes (unimpressed to the point of disappointment at 1st, then after awhile they got better). I experienced an interesting issue while plugged directly into the amp, the strings made a weird sound every time I touched them, so finger plucking sounded bad (made 2 sounds - the touch and the pluck). I put it into an effects pedal, it didn't do it, and when I put it back directly into the amp, it wasn't doing it any more. I don't know what it was!
All in all, I think it's pretty good so far. I will post any updates for your viewers if I have anything else to report, good or bad!
    Thanks for the recommendation Graham.

Thanks for the info...can't understand why they moved the jack position that sounds like a bad move and sorry to hear about the other probs you've had...mine has been just perfect and I'm blown away with it. If you bought it through Amazon I would think about sending it back but do contact Aklot with all your concerns and I'm sure they'll sort your problems out and send a replacement....never " put up " with anything you're not 100% happy with.
Please let me know how you get on...
All the very best to you and yours..

@@EagleUkes They gave me a 20% refund. As I said, if the white box hadn't been damaged, I may have never looked close enough to notice the defect. It is nearly invisible, I only noticed because I could feel it, then looked REALLY close. Could it cause problems at some point in the future? Maybe, but I'll take my chances. LOL
I forgot to ask why they moved the jack. I will send a reply and see if the person who helped me has any idea.

@@EagleUkes Here is what they said about moving the jack...'We moved to this position at 90 degrees to stabilize the EQ line inside, Many buyers reflected the EQ have no sound because the line inside is loose, But now move to this position and it is not conducive to your playing, we may have to find another way to solve this problem.'
Doesn't exactly make sense to me how moving it made the EQ line more secure. I'd also say english isn't their native language so take it for what it's worth. They offered to send me one of their chimes as compensation, but I declined that and asked for a 90 degree cable, but they don't have them.

@@Dave_D. ...I'd agree with you Dave...moving the position won't alter anything...if the cable was loose and rattling around inside it would have made senses just to fit a shorter cable and leave the jack position.....will they exchange yours for an older model?.....thanks for keeping in touch...👍🙂🎵🎶

@@bridgetpollock6760 ...hope that's ok for you Bridget...I've been in touch with them about it and I'm sure it's been a manufacturing error ( they come up with an excuse it's to keep the internal wires from rattling, which is nonsense...)...it's fine if you're ok with it there and doesn't affect your playing..try plugging in whilst seated and make sure it doesn't cause a problem..but...if it does then I'd send it back for a full refund and ask them to contact you when they have new stock in with the jack in the original position....it's so sad that this has happened to a good brand and a great instrument...☹️

..thanks Bob...I think the Jacks in a position on some of a batch of the Ukes where that may help or may just dig into the leg when sat down.
Aklot have said that they will put the jack in the original position from the next batch of Ukes onwards whenever that may be...😊

Hi again. I just wondered about changing to Low G in general. Whether wound or not, coz it'd be a thicker string?, would they fit into the slot of any ukulele without having to widen the slot? Were the Aquila Reds that broke made for tenor size? Sorry. This is all new to me. Never changed a string in my life.

You're better with a wound Fremont squeakless low G as it fits into the slot without having to widen it..👍💕

Copper, which is a soft metal, is what the gears are made from so I wonder how they will hold up over time & with repeated tunings. That's just something that occurred to me anyway.
Is that why some tuners are covered, to protect them 🤔?
