DUDE!!!! that arc at 11:44 would have MADE a whole new star wars that people would have enjoyed and could get behind with a new generation.... like damn man that sounds sooooo gooood
Maybe Rise of Skywalker is Finn's dying brain fart as he breathes his last on the salt plains of Krayt after Rose Tico has crashed into him, and just before a gorilla AT-AT crushes his corpse.
"Droid rights" - is a thing pushed since disney took over, it was never a thing in the OT or prequels and its all because some over sensitive PC person misinterpreted the like "no droids, we dont serve their kind here"....because it was a bar, and droids don't drink and that person decided to make droind sentience a major issue in almost every single Star Wars movie Disney made....
Its answer is long and confusing, but the quick answer is.... There was a war against AI in the past. Thats why everything is "manual" despite being futuristic space nonsense. But... making droids usefull means making them "near sentient." The problem being that droids fairly regularly gain personalities. So they have to be regularly memory wiped. This is largely unexplored in the movies.
@@Pistonrager There's a lot that can be argued with that, but...By Disney's own rules, if it exists outside of the original movies, it's not canon unless it's mentioned BY Disney in which case we're back to it being an invention of Disney as Disney frequently cherry picks from the EU and manipulates it to their own need, which is why Clone Wars retcons a lot of things and why The Mandalorian is a completely disaster.
@@Pistonrager As do I. But that's the over all point of my comment, the "Droid rights" issue was never in the OT or prequels, but it's been in near enough (if not all) movies, shows and even games now with Star Wars: Outlaws that Disney has made and frankly, it's beyond irritating at this point. They're bent on fabricating this non issue that no one has ever cared about and trying to make some grand allegory/talking point.
Thanks for the reminder! I need to listen to this complete epi again. I wish I could remember the first EFAP epi I listened to. But it’s def around this time, when I needed to find a harmonial community in regards to DSW. 😊
Something that’s always annoyed me about the ships not being able to just go up, it implies that in a universe where FTL is a very common technology the basic concept of a gyroscope is nonexistent. It’s literally a general rule of physics, it’s how even a basic bicycle stays up right. Even submarines have been using them for decades for underwater navigation, and JJ believes in a world where light sabers exist no one has thought to install a spinning wheel to tell them which way is up
1:02:45 RoS vs TLJ TLJ is RYAN's screw-up. He came in and just trainwrecked a big hole with a Holdo-like move. JJ gets the last word and drops the ball hard. TFA was his start-off. Then he gets the chance to fix Ryan's mess, but instead, he ruins everything else. They're still a close tie for worst, but it seems JJ has more responsibility for the whole.
Why now? The original is 4 years old... all this reminds me of is that Jay Exci is still not back after half a year. I miss them, I hope they are OK, wherever they are.
Imagine if the sequel trilogy had been phenomenal. The ramifications would be felt to this day. Everyone not named Adam Driver and Oscar Isaac would still have careers. Galaxy’s Edge would be packed every day. The franchise wouldn’t be irrelevant. Disney wouldn’t be reliant on key jangle to make fans excited about new projects.
Exactly their mission: …marketing to girls who would prefer George Lucas Star Wars. Jar jar abrams has zero business in this industry if he writes like this and neither does rian Johnson
That desert world scene is also absurd. I once worked out that funding the exact ground opening at the exact time of the festival was roughly 1 in 1.5 sextillion chance, or in the same broad ballpark as finding a specific grain of sand. That's not even including the odds if Lando being in the right place at the right time either...
The more I listen to this episode the more I think "they don't know which way is up out there" was meant to be a figure of speech and everyone took it literally.
Remember the good ol' days of *checks callendar* 2019 when a product as recent as Fallen Order reminded us even hyperspace can take days and weeks when crossing the galaxy? I remember that.
The *only* things from this movie that I liked was the new Y-Wing Fighter design and the TIE Dorito. That’s it. I’m so glad that I never once watched this pile of putrid piss puke.
The only content that Disney made that I will watch is Rogue One, Andor, and 2 seasons of Mandalorian since they compliment what came before and not try to tear down and destroy.
I don't know if I or others have pointed this out yet, but what's Shad is essentially suggesting on the 11:00 mark (about Rey being the main antagonist and Finn being the unexpected hero) was done in Star Wars before, with the KOTOR series. Revan was the former dark lord turned mysterious protagonist trying to save Bastilla, a prodigy Jedi who succumbed to the dark side, mostly because of him. Like Revan, Finn would be the grim, scarred war veteran finding a deep connection with the untouchable flower girl, as he tries to save that one person that saved him from the brink as well. In fact, the dyad pish with Rey and Kylo is just the force bond between Revan and Bastilla. JJ and LucasFilm had a blueprint staring right at their faces and all they achieved was just a discount version of Revan's posse.
Those Star Destroyers managed to fly up through the ground by moving upward, as soon as they break the surface they go “ooooookay and which way now??” ……….🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
I think I can explain why Ep 9 is so much more palatable to normies: Star Wars was already dead. All it did was disrespect a dead body while kicking the crap out of TLJ which committed the actual murder. That was satisfying. If you have buried your dead, gone through the stages of grief and moved on, then there is only the satisfaction of seeing Rian's work dismantled and p*ssed on. 86%, booyah. But if you're still in the bargaining stage, holding onto things like Anakin's sacrifice, then there are all these fresh wounds that keep you from enjoying the revenge, which is really all it could offer.
Waste of potential, I really thought Poe and Finn had more chemistry together than Rey, a story of a Rebel member joining forces with an ex Stormtrooper that could become a new Jedi had a lot of potential. But unfortunatelly Finn was not a KK self insert so he had no chance of getting the spotlight.
54:00 Ive had several people online and offline say that they gave it a higher/lower score then they wanted, because they didnt like the average score it had at that moment. And people trying to deflate/inflate the score because they heard other people do the same...

Reminder that TO THIS DAY Rise of Skywalker on Rotten Tomatoes AUDIENCE RATING did not inch a percent. You can find videos and clips of it being 86% with 10k reviews, or 20k reviews in the first month of movie's release. Its up to 50k reviews these days, and still its not 87%, not 85%. Not changes. I can't stop laughing at how wrong I was that Star Wars couldn't get worse after TLJ. I guess, in a way, they really did subvert my expectations after all. It's just a shame that they lack the ability to surpass them instead.
41:01 they could've logically explained this slightly with his backstory. The ship is the First Order Star Destroyer, while the sith Star Destroyers obviously look like the Empire's Star Destroyers. Of course Finn would point out that ship since he's familiar with the design (not to mention Finn and Poe escape the same type of Destroyer in TFA). But oh well, he had a feeling
honestly i was hoping that finn would be the non force sensitive sparing partner for rey, he'd use the one storm trooper melee weapon and she'd use the light saber, or they'd use other things and switch it up.
Another annoying thing about finn not becoming a jedi is before the 7th movie, a book was written and came.out before the film called "star wars: before the awakening" it was about ray, finn, and poe and what they were doing before the film. In the book finn is a hand to hand/ melee weapon specialist. They establish that finn is the best in his whole unit when it comes to fighting up close and personal. Meanwhile in the films he always is weilding the lightsaber like an utter bafoon. Mind he isnt trained in the force and whatnot, his saber technique sould be significant
I swear to god, malicious bad will always be leagues worse than incompetent bad. Rise of Skywalker was disappointing, Last Jedi just made me furious. The Rise of Skywalker was the twist of a knife, but the stab wound done by the Last Jedi so big and severe that I was long dead by that point.
6:40 im willing to bet if you told Kathleen Kennedy that the sequel trilogy makes the original trilogy useless and skippable, she'd probably "ohhh... that's bad." while smiling really wide. then she gets in her ride and goes to have a disney party to celebrate.
Lore wise most droids have their memory wiped so they don't gain personalities and possibly goes against their programming In the Clone Wars this is memory wiping was supposed to be done to stop information getting into the separatists hand but Anakin didn't do it
Finn: "You have to snap out of it, Rey! This isn't you!" Rey: "Wrong. For the first time I feel like my life makes sense! Join me, Finn! Come to the Dark Side and then you can let *others* clean the floors of Star Destroyers for you!"
30:00 The whole saga went from being Anakin's story to being Palpatine's story, we get to see is pre emperor life, then how he reigned in the OT and finished with how he controlled "everything" from the shadows. Its not great, but I prefer that to some of the other possibility.
I don't think they ever would have let Finn beat evil Rey, but it would have been super cool to see the final movie/fight being 1v2: Rey/Kylo being evil pair and Finn bringing her back to the light side so it's 2v1 with their friendship being the focus (choose your family vs. lackluster focus on Skywalker bloodline, which to be fair, I guess was her choosing her family posthumously?). Would also be nod to the Darth Maul 2v1 fight from the prequels. I guess her being brought back to the light side is similar to Ben's rushed 3rd movie arc, but def remove the force healing turncoating. I suppose in 2nd movie, you could have similar, but from that scene where Luke sees her reaching for the darkness, she actually succumbs by the end of the movie, so then a truly disheveled Luke in 3rd movie has to get over that 2nd failure (compounds his mistake with Ben at the academy even though that probably needs to be reworked still for the sake of Luke's legacy; I am a fan, however, of even the most noble heroes falling at some point, so I'd probably keep the betrayal but not make it attempted murder, just he misstepped in his mentor role to Ben badly somehow) and train Finn to become a Jedi to win his friend back and right Luke's wrong. Then if you want to go bonkers, you have the projected Luke from end of TLJ make it a 2v2 final fight for a short time (projection broken to save Finn, nod to Obi death in OG?): Finn/Luke vs Rey/Kylo (latter nod to throne room fight which I'd like to keep, but probably rework to be part where she accepts Dark Side by taking Kylo's offer). Perfect world, have the final fight at that planet from 1st movie fight at nighttime in the snow again, or in the crater that broke up her and Kylo's 1st movie end fight, but I honestly don't remember if that planet/scene was still in play; it's been a while. My pitch probably also banks on less nostalgia, as I'm mostly using Luke, but I suppose Chewie is still helping out with the Falcon/Poe, Leia is still Commander. Force ghost or whatever Han I think definitely gets cut, makes his death more impactful. Maybe his voice somewhere in final fight if Ben is also brought back to the Light Side. Knights of Ren could also be used more in 3rd movie if it's Evil Rey and Kylo leading them. Would have to do my research, but I just got hyped thinking of what could have been (granted, we've seen these tropes before, who hasn't).
What’s sad is that Kylo could’ve survived his crash landing in the TIE fighter if Disney didn’t do everything in their power to nerf Jedi/Sith. A Legends powered Kylo could’ve survived but the one we got should be pasted by their own rules
I loved the way the star destroyers came out of the ground, Just like in Star Trek into darkness when the enterprise comes out of the ocean. Jj abrams knows nothing about how STARships work They can't fly in an atmosphere That's why they are built in space 😂
I don't care what they would've done with the plot. Either way, it has nothing to do with Star Wars, at least the main saga, it's a reboot under the guise of a sequel. It makes the OT moot, and only brought the original 3 back to be able to market it as a return to the beloved characters. They pushed TFA as a Han Solo focused movie to start off the completion of the saga, with promises that Luke would eventually have his triumphant return. And then we get 10 seconds of Luke looking like a Jedi master, AND ... never getting to see it.
I was just thinking through how much of the series you could skip if we accept the ST’s canonicity. You need some critical information about who the OT cast is so you can’t completely skip the OT. And, to understand who the Emperor is, you can’t really skip the PT. I think you’d watch The Phantom Edit for the PT, watch episodes 4 and 5, learn that Vader and the Emperor somehow died but then the Emperor somehow came back, then watch episode 7, learn that Luke and Snoke died, then 9. Phantom Edit cuts out most of TPM and AotC so basically 1.5 movies, cut out episode 6 for another, cut out episode 8 for another. So out of the 9 episodes, you wouldn’t need to watch over a trilogy worth to get the complete story. That’s depressing.
The discussion over which was worse, TLJ or TRoS, is still pretty fascinating. I think that TRoS was actually a worse film, but my visceral hatred still belongs to TLJ. And I think that the difference is the perceived motive behind the films. TLJ felt personal. It felt like an intentional deconstruction of both the beloved original characters and the interesting elements in TFA. As flawed as TFA was, I still carried investment in where the story was going. Watching TLJ felt like someone had vandalized my favorite childhood toy and left it on my doorstep. In contrast, TRoS just felt like general incompetence and apathy toward a story that had already derailed in the prior installment. I was already demoralized and pessimistic, and I could almost sense the same attitude from everyone involved in making the movie. No thought was given to telling a reasonable story, no attention was given to the existing lore, no consideration was given to how this movie affects the original story. So yes, TRoS was a far worse, more damaging film within this franchise. But TLJ will forever be the personal insult that I cannot forgive. All these years later, and I still can't wrap my head around the way that this trilogy was so dismally mismanaged.
Another suggestion for these shorts. In the weird off chance anyone is interested in the visuals or the chat of the clips, maybe instead of blurring the entire screen to show a time stamp, you can put a large tab on the top or side like on a filing folder. You can have a simple tab with the time stamp come down, and still with the stock sounds as a "notification", then have it go back up or out or something.

EFAP 66 was my introduction to EFAP and its my overall favourite of EFAP, I like it so much I've rewatched it multiple times
@@zeroryuj6093 i choose to ignore Disney making stupid decisions about canon.
TROS is at least the funniest SW movie ever made
The 10 hr version of this is one of my favorite videos on TH-cam. The group of voices you collected to discuss this silly movie was fantastic. Thanks
10:42 Great idea but wouldn't sell toys
Ironic, episode 66 is when star wars order 66'd itself. It only went down from here.
Jay (kicked) but not forgoten.
Just kicked, God willing.
ah, fond memories watching in it while doing midterm internship and losing my shit laughing, one of the GOAT episodes of the show
Something that’s always annoyed me about the ships not being able to just go up, it implies that in a universe where FTL is a very common technology the basic concept of a gyroscope is nonexistent. It’s literally a general rule of physics, it’s how even a basic bicycle stays up right. Even submarines have been using them for decades for underwater navigation, and JJ believes in a world where light sabers exist no one has thought to install a spinning wheel to tell them which way is up
"Somehow Palpatine returned."
- Jar Jar Abrams, the next Spielberg.
I bet they dropped the Finn x Rey thing to appeal to a certain country that is not very fond of such a relation but has a very big paying audience.
"I am all the Jedi" why do I get the feeling someone was bit into the Legend of Kora?
I’m listening to this on an early morning shift and I heard the word “McMuffin” so much during this I just ordered one 😂
1:02:45
RoS vs TLJ
TLJ is RYAN's screw-up.
One of the top tier EFAP episodes, delving into a horrible movie straight from the poop dimension.
Why now? The original is 4 years old... all this reminds me of is that Jay Exci is still not back after half a year. I miss them, I hope they are OK, wherever they are.
He's taken a break due to mental health reasons I think.
Would love to see him back.
@@ThomasCostigan Yeah..... I know that. I read their community page. But thanks for sharing the info, I hope they return whenever they are ready.
The comments on the potential of Asoka, heard again years later, after the series, are quite comical... 😂
This entire EFAP is a highlight.
This is infinitely funnier now that Mauler and Fringy have seen Ahsoka. I wonder if Fringo still would want Ahsoka in the sequel trilogy now 😅
The more I listen to this episode the more I think "they don't know which way is up out there" was meant to be a figure of speech and everyone took it literally.
The Force Awakens was worse
The Rise of Skywalker was worser
The Last Jedi was worsest!
I can't be TOO mad at JJabrams. The Last Jedi literally set everything on fire and left nothing to work with
You're talking as if the force awaken wasn't a shitty retelling of episode IV that killed Han solo for no reason.
“THEY FLY NOW!!??”
“THEY FLY NOW! THEY DON’T KNOW WHICH WAY IS UP, BUT YES THEY FLY NOW!”
Remember the good ol' days of *checks callendar* 2019 when a product as recent as Fallen Order reminded us even hyperspace can take days and weeks when crossing the galaxy? I remember that.
41:57 dogs can’t look up
OGs remember the bulging eyeballs in the thumbnail from the before times. God, that was a blast from the past. Lol
If kylo was trying to kill her, why is he going 40mph in his "Spaceship?" Why is he not going mach 7
A better question would be that, if Kylo WAS trying to kill her, then why didn't he just shoot her down.
cause kylo is the most inconsitent character - before somehow palpatine returned -
He could be flying triple the speed of sound and then some. She'd never even see him coming. It would be a sudden red mist
What's even more insane is how, to this day, audience score on rotten tomatoes for this movie is STILL 86% !!!
Those Star Destroyers managed to fly up through the ground by moving upward, as soon as they break the surface they go “ooooookay and which way now??”
……….🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
But if you skip the OT, you'd never watch any of the rest of the movies on purpose.
The Exogol thing blew my mind. Dude you're in a spaceship! Look out the window, if you see no planet just go, you'll be fine thats space. And dont get me started with the horses lol...just roll the ship and they'll fall off.
It was just that good huh.
11:23 Oh wow.
That's Shad? So cool...
MauLer: .. finding McMuffin 3, that leads to McMuffin 2,..
Rags: it's all very complicated
17:32
Misheard that as "it's all very cupcake" and had to double check - would have been such a Rags thing to say 😂
There is no way Kylo could seem like a threat.
He lost twice back to back, losing at fighting and getting outwitted.
He's a loser.
Lore wise most droids have their memory wiped so they don't gain personalities and possibly goes against their programming
In the Clone Wars this is memory wiping was supposed to be done to stop information getting into the separatists hand but Anakin didn't do it
The movie should have ended with Rey saying, "Rey. Rey Dameron."
I think this was the first stream I caught Live after discovering who EFAP were
The face of a child says it all. Especially the mouth part of the face.
Finn: "You have to snap out of it, Rey! This isn't you!"
Rey: "Wrong.
That thumbnail confused me and I was expecting a pitch-meeting.
What’s sad is that Kylo could’ve survived his crash landing in the TIE fighter if Disney didn’t do everything in their power to nerf Jedi/Sith. A Legends powered Kylo could’ve survived but the one we got should be pasted by their own rules
I loved the way the star destroyers came out of the ground,
Just like in Star Trek into darkness when the enterprise comes out of the ocean.
Jj abrams knows nothing about how STARships work
They can't fly in an atmosphere
That's why they are built in space 😂
I bailed on Star Wars after TLJ. I’d listen to this 100 times before watching ROS. Great video!
Why was a navigation tower built on a First Order Star Destroyer, and NOT ANY of the sith Star Destroyers in the Final Order
"toward the end of my TFA series"
yeah...
What episode was Wolf’s last episode?
