    📜 Video Description 📜
It's easy to just post your winning poker hands to make yourself look like a poker GOD - your bluffs that worked, your value bets that got paid off etc etc. But sometimes you improve the most by showcasing your worst play in an accountable yet forgiving way and that is what I will do in today's video. These hands are not pretty but they illustrate how easy it is to make big mistakes when your in-game thought process isn't right.

On a separate note, I stopped drinking every week because of poker. I often go weeks without it now. All because I made a promise to not play poker if I drank ANY alcohol that same day. Turns out I like poker more than drinking

I have a weird mental trick to avoid getting tilted. I imagine that instead of me as a person playing against other people, I've just programmed a little poker bot that plays against other poker bots. When I play well and lose, my little bot just got unlucky. When I play badly, I just need to tweak the strategy I programmed the bot the play. It's never about any quality of me as a person (stupid, weak, predictable, etc.).

Pete my graph is THRIVING because of you. I entered my winrate into the variance calculator and only 5% of all possible outcomes produce an undesirable graph.
I studied your content for 50hrs+ while taking notes and then reviewing said material again. You can literally see the moment I logged that 50hr+ study in my graph. Thank you and don’t worry I understand part of it could be variance.

Awesome video Pete! That first hand was super interesting. With 5x seemingly not representing a lot of absolute combos I would have thought A/K could have followed through for value from weaker Ax. Very easy to forget just how many 2 pair combos beat you here that make up villains Ax range

Only on the first hand on the video, and the analysis and findings is so valuable, and it feels like I've unlocked another weapon to use now. k7cc, etc not only a bluff, but a profitable one, and by quite a bit.

Ah Pete, being a spin player i’ve been watching ur channel for some time, mostly for the mental analysis. Can’t agree more on your take about psychological aspect of hangover in ur mid/late 30’s. Great vid :)

    Great video !!
In hand one, did you feel that villains bet size might have influenced your decision to XR? Many regs, even decent ones, will put their thick value into larger sizes, and thinner value into smaller sizes. I think I may have XR that river also, with my subconscious saying that a stronger hand could often be selecting the larger size !

This is what me mass tabling on tilt looks like. Good idea for a video.

10:10 I don’t think that if a spot is underbluffed and therefore we don’t wanna call bluffcatchers, is necessarily bad spot to raise.
In fact, I often see spots in-game where the aggressor in my eyes is clearly underbluffing for certain size, but his range is too mid-strength heavy capped, that I can make him overfold it to raise.

love ya brother! RAmember mistakes are what makes us better, you never really lose you only learn. sometimes we have to learn the hardway but thats ok its all part of the process. in order to win we must learn how to lose. in order to play a hand perfectly or optimally we will have to play some hands horribly. each loss comes with a lil lesson and in the longrun that lesson you learned will make you way more $ then the money you lost learning it. i enjoy the videos much love

On the first hand, what about in terms of trueEV? People probably aren't balancing their half pot with 5x enough, in fact it is probably too much thin value that'll fold to a raise so you think it could be a good trueEV bluff?

interesting. the only day I *don't* drink is the day before I donate blood.
and I am old enough to be Pete's dad.
I can't even remember the last time I had a hangover.

Are you aware of these leaks if the result is different? If the guy folded your A8 raise, how aware are you after the fact that it's still a bad play?

    Let’s have a civilized discussion;
I can relate to a lot of the “syndromes” you are bringing up. I’m not streaming and I also play more regularly then you. But I think a lot also comes from the fact that you are not in the greatest “On table form”? I get this when I’m a bit rusty after a break too. My decision making doesn’t keep up with my strategic ability. Also some mental game leaks start to apear that I typically don’t experience when I’m on my day to day grind.
I actually watched the stream as VOD where you played the hands. I got the feeling that you almost leveled yourself because you wanted to avoid mental game mistakes you started over thinking. As if you tried to avoid it then you think about it so much that you do it anyway. I know you play golf. You know when you say to you buddy or think to yourself “Don’t slice this in the water off this tiht tee now”. Obviously you slice it in the water because you put those thoughts in to your subconscious.
Anyway keep it up! I definitely respect your knowledge of the game and Im playing up to 5k professionally. So don’t let the trolls losing at 1nl get in your head! It’s also worth remembering you are a professional poker coach and not player. It’s completely normal your off table game is much stronger then your in game decision making!
