    I took the plunge and just went straight for the Pro version because you get all 3 (Disco, Core and Pro) - I sketch out with either Disco or Core depending on the complexity of the music and can then send it to Pro to tweak and get that epic sound happening. The good thing is that if you switch from Core to Disco with an articulation not contained in Disco it will create a simulated version of that. For example a Legato line in Core and then I send it to Disco it will create a simulated version of that legato sound (identified by a ~ symbol)... Same also for Pro to disco. Meaning I can go out, sketch something on my laptop in Disco, send it to Pro to add or correct articulations etc.. then send it back to the laptop with those Simulated articulations for more work etc.. Utterly brilliant!

    First of all, just found your channel, you're brilliant, love your energy and passion. Wish I had a music teacher like you back in the day. Easy subscribe!
    I really admire what Spitfire are attempting here. Yes, of course, they want to make money (and they surely will), but really there's massive educational potential with this model. It's very easy to be cynical about this, but here in the UK, music teaching is massively underfunded. This goes some way to start democratising orchestral music education, and we can all be behind that surely? If I had this sort of tool available in school, over 25 years ago now, I wouldn't have lost interest and my path in life might have been considerably different.
    I was tempted by the original BBC SO on its release but couldn't justify the huge cost in the end. This gives people the opportunity to dip their toe in, and upgrade if they so wish. If I'm happy with Discover when I receive it, I'm certainly seriously thinking of upgrading to Core.
    Consider who this is aimed at. Is it perfect? Probably not, but now with the Core option, it's become a much more appealing prospect. I can do "epic" stuff with other libraries, but this is very much for budding composers in the music tech world who want to produce something a bit more traditional, and all in one library.

    First of all, thank you for a great and informative video. Second, would you share your setup with us. I would like to know about your keyboard, midi controllers, mixers, etc.

    Last night while folding my washing I overheard a soap opera on laundromat's TV and the music sounded SO familiar... the thought came to me, "Guy Michelmore must have taught that composer".

    I'm really wondering how Spitfire audio is free. Their expressive strings are so amazing as well as their bells and other sounds. I'm honestly gobsmacked.

    It's hard not to love Spitfire. Free LABS, a free orchestra and great value from the Originals series. Music is a hobby for me and this kind of quality is key to whatever value I get from it

    One of the questions posed in the survey - Who do you follow on TH-cam etc? Well who do you think?! However, I’m afraid I was less complimentary about the BBC.

    I already bought the library. £50 for a decent variety of lovely instruments. As a complete beginner this library is "just daunting enough" to be a new challenge. Doesn't seem to work with expression on my midi, but changing modulation in cubase does allow for a bit of a swell on the tuba. Much better than the default orchestral instruments in Cubase. UI is lovely for showing how the orchestra is positioned (and therefore hints at panning) It's done enough to change my latest piece from "a load of synth around guitar" to "a guitar playing with the BBC orchestra". Love it....and a perfect gateway drug to a more advanced version when I start to find the new limits.
    EDIT: I would love a "beginners guide" to getting the most out of discover.

      Agree with that. Mod wheel and CC7 work great

    • @paulmdevenney
      @paulmdevenney 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ThinkSpaceEducation will keep trying! I'm Noobie enough that I'm not really sure what things like "CC7" are (other than clearly they are access to a load of parameters around a midi track such as modulation / tremelo etc). I struggle to find the right question to ask to get my answers!!! Hence a "beginners guide to discover" with expression etc would go a long way! Keep up the great work Guy.
