    In Spain we have different breed of horses, the Andalusian horses are de most beautiful of all, even in the mountains of northern Spain there is a very old unique breed called asturcon... In Galicia they live in the wild, in Vienna, Austria they are the oldest Spanish riding school in Europe and all the horses are Spanish
    Greetings from Spain....

      Bernal Diaz rode with Cortez and remarked that Spain was depleted of all of her fine war horses. People tried to export horses back to Spain from the Americas, but that was enormously unsuccessful. Bernal remarked that this resulted in the government banning the exportation of horses and establishing royal studs. Charles V began to import horses from the Low Countries according to Dr Bennett and the foundation Spanish warmblood cross that would become the Pura Raza Español was born. The Spanish conquest horse is not the same as the modern Andalusian or Lusitano.

    I've got 1! His name is Colorado, said to be from the Utah/Nevada line. I traded 8 sheep and a donkey for him back in 2003. Someone had traded him to a dude outfit, said he'd make a good trail horse. The wranglers couldn't catch him so they traded him to my bullriding buddie's grandpa. He has big hooves, must be some draft in his lineage. His head appears to be that of a thoroughbred. Old timers were said to often shoot the wild studs, then turn other breed stallions out, to get the bone up in the offspring. We love old "Colorado". He's as good in the mountains as they come. He's a good cow pony, too. Even roped off him a bit.

      One day years ago while working on the Lechlieter ranch, Luis (the top hand) asked me, "Why that sob so spooky?" I told him, " You'd be spooky, too, if you grew up dodging mountain lions."

      Contact the Windcross Conservancy (contact information at the end of the episode), they can loop you into the Spanish Mustang community to begin your journey and discover which owners and breeders may have stock available. Thank you for your inquiry.

      So, so true. And the sweeping statements of those people who have worked with ALL horses, really?
      sounds exactly like my Arabian stallion.
      This is for the ignorant, those that haven't studied the horse.
      I love mustangs.. But this is sad.

    The Mustangs were first tamed by the Comanche tribe which gave them an advantage over the Mexicans trying to invade the north on foot. Only later were the used by Americans

    Very similar to our Morgan breed in New England. That is, the original Morgan, not the show jazzed up version.

    • @HorseTVGlobal
      @HorseTVGlobal  ปีที่แล้ว

      Agree- there is a significant difference in conformation, temperament and personality of the original Morgan bloodlines when compared to the "contemporary" Morgan. You might enjoy our TV Episode on the Lippitt Morgan and see several of our own horses, found at this link: th-cam.com/video/2FpuGUVW9XU/w-d-xo.html

    Very interesting. But the Spanisch horse is not the only ancesteror of mustangs. Look at the "Nokota horse", the progeny horses of Sittimg Bull's tribe rode. Their DNA is reaching back to Nordic wiking horses. Nobody knows aubout them untill the Theodore Roosevelt NP was build up in 1978. They are mostly Blue or Red Roans, Grey, Chestnut or Black, NOT Painted, and someones doing the "Indian shuffle".
    I'm personally very excited of them.
    Best regards from Germany

    I´d say african more than iberian. Most horses that came to the Americas were gathered by the Spanish in the Canary Islands and then shipped to Cuba, from were they were distributed to the colonies, in general. More than any iberian breed, it was the north-african barb horse the most influential in the creole breeds which developed in the Americas.
