I think they should have jammers and a turbo gadget. EMPs are nearly improssible to avoid. But I also don't want it to become like Rivals or Hot Purusit where racers are going out of their way to take out cops. One thing that needs to be fixed is the cooldown for the cop catchup mechanic because I've seen so many people abuse it and rhino people constantly
If I recall correctly, there were only three prior Need for Speed games where the AI police served as backup when you play as a cop. In NFS High Stakes on PC, there were AI cops helping you catch speeders. In Hot Pursuit 2 on PC, Xbox, and GameCube, you had the option to call in backup if necessary. The PS2 version did not have backup AI cops as an option. NFS Rivals was the most recent game where AI cops were involved if you play as a cop. I think having AI cops as backup is great as it feels authentic, as if you are in a real world police chase with other officers involved. At the same time, it can be annoying when the AI cops get in your way and slow you down, especially when you need to catch the racers. I do feel like the cop cars and AI cops are overpowered in A class and A+ class. The cops need to be on a more level playing field in the lower classes as it is too easy to bust racers in overpowered cop cars.
I hate it where Racer can be taken out by cops and immediately got taken out again by another player cop with full speed after respawning, Racer should at least have spawn protection.
I would keep the infinite NOS, but scrap the "respawn in front of racers" gameplay mechanic, it just feels a little too "game-y" and overly casual for me. TBH, it feels more like a band-aid solution to the difficulty curve for the cops. In return, just to up the difficulty a notch for racers, maybe make them actually escape pursuit after the race ends, with a timer for cops to bust all of them, rather than just slapping a "Racers Escaped" or "Race Shutdown" screen once the race ends. An "All Racers Busted" win condition in case a race shutdown isn't possible would be nice in this case.
Teammates also have ZERO regard for your busts or any form of teamwork. Solo queing in this mode is the worst nightmare. Hot pursuit players had some sense of teamwork at least. But then again, HP was build different than what it is now
Yeah playing as a cop is a headache cause teammates just ran you when you and making your lose your point and it's frustrating make it so that other cops players get assist points for busting a racer add a penalty for hit fellow cop players during the bust.
This mode is quite unfair for racers, 'cause cops have unlimited respawn & NOS (and some other stuffs that make 'em too OP). They real need to make it like a real hot pursuit... (BTW in cop team, bots are also annoying because they are Teamkilling so much :/)
Let me just say this, but, as much as I really love this mode... The A and A+ class races are way too unbalanced. There are no countermeasures and racers topping 180mph when cops can go well over 230mph, that's completely unfair. Heat's press-to-repair button needs to come back and countermeasures need to be implemented, because some races are literally impossible to finish. Or allow players' cop cars to be destroyed (and sent to a "spectator only" mode), so everyone is forced to be cautious with their moves and be forced to keep track of their health. That could balance things out A LOT.
I never really have been into Unbound anymore since the first update, but looking from some videos I've seen online.... Without it, I feels like the update just feels like a fan service, without it feels blended to the game's world Both 2 are just nitpicky game design complain, from just looking at it, it's still seems like a good fun (the AI cop joining pursuit feels like a cherry on top)

This game mode has potential but the police are WAY to op it’s not even fair 90% of the time for the racer team. We don’t even get pursuit tech to balance out or even a jammer and get rid of the AI. This needs to be a pure 4v4 without the cops having 15 units of backup at all times

the unbound races are not properly balanced, 10 seconds in and it's more a one sided derby. cop need less ai on there side and racers need something help them out as well. maybe they could try some sort of perk/load type set up. stuff like forego emp for ai cop cars to spawn.

Less AI cops, limited teleports for cops and pursuit tech for racers, then this game mode is perfection. The cops are too good in this game mode
