Experts think that self-driving cars will be more reliable than a human driver, and the number of accidents will reduce by about 90%. Also, in big cities, traffic jams will disappear when self-driving vehicles go out on the roads.
By the way, self-driving cars become more reliable with each passing month - if not every day. A few years ago they couldn't stop or notice an object in the rain, but now they can "see" and move even during snowfall. It seems that self-driving cars will drive around the city perfectly with such abilities. And that's the main issue...

Adam M I agreed with you. However, I won’t mine having self-driving cars though, especially it could be beneficial for the reasons mentioned in the video. I just don’t want them to be completely force on me and have my right to drive revoke from me. I believed everyone should have a choice weather they want to be driven by a self driving car or just to drive themselves.

@@Master-kh6ww the purpose of self driving cars is to make the roads safer and driving more efficient, not cleanliness. That's a separate goal that a company chooses whether to work towards
Because we are trending that way anyways. While some power plants still use fossil fuels and still emit greenhouse gasses (at least coal powered) they still emit less than the same distance drivable of gasoline or diesel powered vehicles do versus a kWhr of electricity does, which makes it better, but not ideal. Nuclear power plants are better for atmospheric gas emissions, but there is still the issue of safely storing the spent fuel rods and other waste products when those plants are decommissioned or have to change materials. Renewables are better still, but again maintenance and end of life decommissioning of materials and environmental affects on wildlife migration patterns and habitats is still a concern, also with getting the energy from the point it is generated to the point of use, our grid will really need some updating and investment. Not until we are able to truly create clean energy (nuclear fusion) will we probably really be able to say that our energy creation and consumption has zero environmental impact, and even then we may not be able to make that claim because of the materials used to create those devices.
He should explain how traffic jams come about because honestly every time i get to the top of where the cars was all slow or stopped it’s nothing there.... like why was everybody going so slow or not at all? Like there’s no accident, no police, no fire, no nothing!
I agree when you are on the highway when there is traffic and then you come to a full stop. I never understand how it happens when nothing is there.

One flaw I find in self-drive cars is if a child runs out in between cars, as children can do, gets hit by a car that self-drives...deadly results!!!!

I think that self driving cars must have a manual mode which will stop the cameras but record the position of passengers to prevent thefts

sorry but if you're in Canada you won't be allowed to drive a self driving car they are ready made that were between clear when they passed a series of regulations almost totally outline self driving cars. A lot of insurance companies have Artie stated they flat out will not ensure self driving cars.
Peter Parker that is not the case here in the United States. As a college student who is visually impaired and is very interested in this topic I have done lots of research. This can easily be concluded it will take some time possibly another decade or less but these cars will soon hit the road and regulations and lawmakers are already trying to make the push for blind people and other people who face disabilities that lack self transportation. Plenty of prototypes have already been tested with blind people and the idea and development has been an overall success.

Only thing I came up with was they will do the speed limit- unlike the selfish a-holes goin slow cuz they're eating, texting, reading, or something else instead just driving.

Don’t let them fed you the propaganda about self driving taxi cost you less money. It will cost companies less money they don’t have to pay drivers, you will still pay the same amount. Just like at gas stations, grocery stores, fast food kiosks, food delivery. They cut the worker and you do all the work. If live in high rise building you would have to come down and get your food, workers would have go out to vehicle and put items in slots, dealing with rain, snow. How would that work for a disabled or elderly customer.
At least it will be self driving so you can escape the car while it is driving.
Exactly when grocery stores replaced cashiers with self-checkouts they promised lower prices for food but all they did was save a bunch of money on paying wages and benefits.

I’m a Lyft Driver and I do not look forward to this. Not only would I be out of work, but it would take out the fun and excitement of traveling on the road.
My mom always can't look out the window when I see somthing cool because she is busy driving. If cars are self driving than there will be no road rage and everyone can look at things you see. Not only that but you can do tasks in the car more and NO ONE will be busy driving.

Its Sarah! I honestly feel the same way as you. However, I would rather drive my car because I enjoyed the pleasure of driving and I don’t want that to be taken away from me by them. That’s what I fear most about them. Although, if my right to drive is guaranteed, then I will get to enjoy on most of benefits they offer, such as being no traffic jams no more and being less accidents. People are worse... The Waymo had 25 accidents in 5 years and only 1 was caused by the self driving car in 10.000.000 km. Usually a person has 1 accident every 350.000 km. So it will be more safe on the road ... but that's only the version which is NOW available. It will be better in 10 years.
