Great videos, James! Glad to see more people doing metal spinning and keeping that skill alive!! One little suggestion from watching your videos, I kept waiting at the end of them to see you show the finished piece. I watch a lot of videos and I always like it when craftsman show their finished project at the end. I know you showed it at the beginning, which I also like, but it'd be nice to see it again at the end! Just saying! LOL But I do really like your videos, so keep up the great work!

Thanks so much for the feedback! Most of my videos are quick demonstrations but I will remember to show finished pieces at the end, especially when the video is focused on making a finished piece!

Thanks for this introduction. I have been turning wood for some time now professionally, but it is always good to stay open for different techniques. Love the cap by the way. Keeps the chips out of your neck!

As a trained metalsmith, I think it's interesting that far more woodturners are interested in metal spinning than metalsmiths. Anything I can do to help others learn!

hello james. Can you provide a link or two and where we might purchase some aluminum disks for trying the spinning . I would like to start and I am not sure of the type of alloy and vendor to purchase from? Thanks in advance if you could provide it.

I would recommend 1100 aluminum to start with (around 20 gauge), 3-5" diameter. Most spinning shops have their own disk cutter but it usually isn't worth their trouble to sell individual disks. boppermetalsupply.com/ has 3" disks. Sometimes I can find larger on Etsy or Amazon. I hope that helps!

    You still doing this?

You betcha! I haven't been publishing new metal spinning videos because I have a lot of beginning metalsmithing/jewelry students that need a lot of reference videos. Just let me know anything you'd like to see in a future video!

Do you mean the Dickie coveralls? Or my work gloves? Or my face shield? Thanks for watching and sorry for the delayed response.
