    the thing that makes me like this series so much as a beginner is just the love that you have for the plants and the dedication to pass the information about it to other people. I have started watching with the single purpose to learn how to grow, but now I am into gardening because I have started appreciating to see how life can thrive with love, dedication and biology . Thanks for showing me this whole new point of view in growing plants, I really appreciate it !!!

    Big supporter of BAS. I have used it all and the quality of ingredients/ammendments is second to none. 40-50lb bags are fairly priced considering what our beds take per run. Love that they carry fenugreek as well as we use that and white dutch for cover crop. Id use kis as there products are comparable but I have yet to have to go there. BAS has taken great care of me!

    Fresh and great info bro. From argentina watching every chapter. I’m a begginer grower, started with two spiderlights from my video and photo productions (graphic designer) and just a month ago bought my first leds cob and see really nice improvements. Just to tell the story of that fluorescents lights gettin nice yields. Harvest six times in these time could get well buds under those 440w cfl’s.
    One problem (of many) that i’ve had is the soil getting dry and some kind of water repealing or phobic, can you give some tips about it (the soil is promix premium buy at the growshop) in argentina dont have yet too many products to buy.

    • @BuildASoil
      @BuildASoil  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TwistedTornsTirade I'm torn. I like the idea of blumats but think it's best for people that already know how to water very well and want to automate a bit. If you don't know what's right sometimes trusting all these meters and automations can lead to large problems. Either way, watering properly is VERY important so if You can dial in Blumats they totally make sense.

    Can you recommend a soil mix for a trichocereus pachanoi or bridgesii as I have several and everyone hates on me as I grow with my typical rols+ amendments for can and veggies except I add about 40+% pumice to my mix. I know everyone says "it's to organic" (I imagine a whining voice) I tend to go heavy with crab meal, alfalfa, oyster shell, granular humic, neem seed meal, and a heavy dash of fish bone and fish meal. Also my soil is 50/50 peat/coco then I add to that 40-50% pumice. And also 8s pumice a good replacement for growstones? As I hate perlite for a rols setup as it tends to make the soil hard after a year or two of ♻️. Thank Jeremy love the content and glad to see you uploading often, been waiting for these days for some time now.
    Edit: I forgot I also add a very hefty amount of rice hulls to the mix and a heafty dash of sopo.

    • @BuildASoil
      @BuildASoil  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      YESSSS We used to sell Soapnuts for this very reason and I still think it's one of the best ways to go. Best method is to freshly grind up soap nuts then mix 2 tablespoons to 1/2 cup warm not hot water. Whisk thoroughly until a slight foam appears which means the saponins are active. strain the formula and use within 4 hours or discard. Use 5 to 30ml per liter of water or same rate to emulsify oils. If using straight soap nut dilution to spray leaves check for toxicity before wide spread use. That recipe is from a commercial grower that I've worked with a ton and they would slay PM and loved using SoapNut for many reasons.

    If I want to use Alfalfa sprout teas, what sort of dilution is considered safe? I heard the enzymes can collapse biology when used too high. If i was to sprout 1/4 cup Alfalfa seeds to 5 gallons, would that be safe spread over 100-120 gallons of soil? Any thoughts?

    • @BuildASoil
      @BuildASoil  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Microbial Collapse is a myth to sell more microscopes. You can easily make an SST like you discuss and use across that much soil no problem. I tend to only add Enzymes to soil that has plants growing in it and preferably after I've fed or topdressed as the enzymes are helpful in making those nutrients available. My favorites are Malted Seeds like the Gnarly Barley, the Rootwize Enzymes are Really nice and I also like the Organic Diastatic Malt Extract. Many ways to go and all of them typically lead to really nice plant turgor and visible plant happiness. Trust your gut!! Do what makes your plants happiest.

    Hey guys great series. i just purchased your 3.0 to fill my 4x4 grassroots living soil bed. what would be the best process to get everything going? should i just dump it all in there then wet it down with the saponin and leave it for a couple of weeks before i add my cover crop and mulch layer?

      @@dragoniousmaximus7304 I did watch the previous episode. That's why i am wondering since the 3.0 has already been mixed up that i would not have to perform that step because i am not mixing anything together.

      Next episode!!! We will cover that for sure. But Yes I would add the 3.0 and then moisten properly. Then I like to add the cover crop and mulch layer. If waiting awhile to plant you can hold off on the cover crop until closer to transplant time... Worst case if your cover crop grows too fast you can chop and drop it before transplanting.

    Whats the average temperature & humidity in this tent? Please

    • @BuildASoil
      @BuildASoil  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We have average right now set on our Fan controller to run at 78 degrees and 65% humidity. I had it running a little warmer but the fan wouldn't kick on often enough and I wanted good airflow. This seems to be working well right now.

    Do you ph your water in earthboxes? and living soil? Noticed especially when using EM1 water goes from tap of 7.2 down to around 4.2. Had heard with living soil you didn't need to worry about ph but me thinks that may be true in outdoor grows or very large pots. In EB's, was having issues with yellowing of leaves when in bloom. Since I started ph ing water all seems to be ok.

      When the water is filtered and clean we don't worry about PH at all and I don't add EM-1 to the reservoir. That being said, I do like EM-1. Yellowing leaves in flower to me would stem from larger plants and needing some more Nitrogen, topdressing more and a little earlier will help keep that from happening. I will address the PH question soon on camera

    Hey man. Thanks again for doing this. Do you have to use live worms? Or is a cover crop and top dressings enough?

    • @BuildASoil

      Yes we use, and love live worms, they are important! And we'll be showing that on camera. Please stay tuned!

      To answer this directly. NO! You DO NOT have to have worms. We like to add them, but it's not Imperative.
