    The problem with trying constantly to "stand straight" is that most people dont even know what it is and will over do it.
    The solution to this is to activate some core muscles and the ass basically xd, that make you stand straight, and also dont overdoing neck posture either (lowering your chin too much is bad too)
    So knowing that there may or may not be something that help with having good jaw posture that isnt in fact near the jaw 🤔

    Wow, thank you very much doctor, I'm 27 and as soon as I discovered them, removed my premolars in my first orthodontic treatment and now I'm in the second one but it hasn't been of any use, Maybe just to wear out the roots, my jaw cracks every time I open my mouth and it is displaced a little, originally my upper teeth were displaced to one side and The Down teeths was fine, I don't know when I started chewing only with one side and my muscles on that side were very tense, today my cheeks are more manageable , today i start with the mewing, in 10 days I will turn 28, sorry for the English, I am with the translator 😅 Greetings from Mexico

    I am currently trying to cure my TMD with Somatic Education. It uses so called "Pandiculations" (1. contract 2. slowly release 2. completely relax) to reset muscle tone, which makes the position of muscles and joints reset to their natural position. It already cured my back problems (which were probably caused by my TMD). It is important to release back, abs, waist muscles first, after that the Jaw muscles can be targeted. It is learning at neurological level, so it helps with the problem of adapting which you refered to, This might be very helpful to cure TMD! If anyone is interested I would suggest you to get the book "Somatics" by Thomas Hannah.

      This sounds like the same theory of "Egoscue exercises" from the book "Pain Free" by Pete Egoscue. About ten years ago, I used the positions and exercises in his TMJ series to re-align my skeleton from toe to head, which re-hung my jaw and cured the clicking and cheek biting I'd been suffering! Alas, my jaw has finally started to decline again in my middle age, so I am trying mewing.

    As a patient I an interested in knowing whether or not this approach to treating TMD is substantiated with radiographic imaging. Is there research/case studies demonstrating that this othrotropic approach to treating TMD can indeed cause remodeling of the mandible and TMJs? Does this research include radiographic imaging such as a CBCT/CT? Very interested in an answer to this.

      Depends on the pain. There should be muscle soreness and a little tooth ache isn't a problem, but the focus should be on the entire tongue touching the palate and the teeth should only be barely touching. Make sure to not push against the teeth.

    Your explanation of 'showing' the joint over time, what the correct posture is, which will in time bring it back to where it should be... is what my tmj specialist will be doing to me. I will be wearing a night splint that he has designed where my bottom teeth will be held slightly forward, but always under the top teeth. Over time, it should move back into place. I obviously haven't explained it as well as you have but I think its more or less the same.

    • @Syed-wj4pj

    The other day I had a filling done right and my bite improved so much. I could bite down at the correct angle, and I found that my tongue automatically pressed on my palate. I didn't realise I hadn't done that for many years. Because I had so many teeth drilled, the bite was off.

    The way you speak reaches far beyond the subject of orthodontics, very inspiring. I realize that I've been practicing the tongue to the roof position wrong the whole time, I'll put great effort into keeping my teeth together and tongue to the roof to hopefully cure my TMJ and headache problems.

    • @mostsacredangel
      @mostsacredangel 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      What do you mean!? "Practicing the tongue posture wrong"? I thought that Putting great effort to keep the teeth together and tongue in the roof isnt good at all, you just have to slight keep your teeths/mounths, and tongue together withouth much effort, bcause it can cause damage.

  • @LinaB-p5z

    Good to know these possible causes of TMJ, yet nothing is said about how occlusal changes done by orthodontists can cause this or similar situation resulting in TMJ. That is my experience. Started ortho without knowing what the heck TMJ is and how it feels to live with TMJ. Now, for half a year due to orthodontically caused posterior open bite I need to push my mandible backwards in order to keep my lips together during sleep and awake time as I used to my whole life, and to push my mandible backwards while eating cause otherwise no back teeth contact. So here we are, nose breather, no TMJ for 36 years, tongue at the roof as described by TMJ experts, yet the artificially introduced dysfunction into my occlusion totally messed up my whole chewing apparatus. The occlusal changes in my mouth directly effect what position my head and neck can take in order to keep teeth close to each other, and that position is not a good posture position. So in the good posture position my lower and upper jaws are 2 x canine length apart. The total ignorance of very experienced ortho professor in the Western Europe who is treating me about how that occlusion can cause TMJ is blowing my mind. The ortho and TMJ field is a totally confused field, lost field, unable to understand the various reasons for TMJ problems field, in my opinion. Simply sad. Well, I had to advocate a lot for myself until finally the ortho, so it seems, started to realise that he must undo the narrowing of my upper arch and already that reduced my TMJ pain by half. Poor kids who haven’t learnt yet to advocate for themselves or reflect on the changes and sensation in their bodies - with straight and nice teeth they end up with TMJ at some point years later after an orthodontic work. And some TMJ expert will tell them it is because of their bad posture whereas it can be they had to adopt that posture due to occlusal changes during ortho.
    Sometimes I wonder: so many smart and bright engineers, physicists, mathematicians were able to organise and trip to the moon, to build the ship, to calculate so many things without ever experiencing it. But somehow TMJ problems which are to me in cases like mine are very similar to technical/mechanical problems cause much more confusion than astrophysics, or so it seems.

    Hi everybody! I have watched many videos but I still have this question: I have TMD and my lower jaw shifts from one side to another. If I bite, my upper teeth can only match correctly one side of the lower teeth. Left side of my lower arch is aligned, rigth side is crooking ... so where should I close my mouth??? (Sorry, english is not my native language)

    • @Kitsunary
      @Kitsunary 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Your tongue should support your head. If they don't touch properly, just have them barely touch where you want them and use your entire tongue pushing against the palate to keep the rest of your teeth floating.
