A good tip on gating snare tops: Use the sidechain filter on the fundamental frequency so no matter how quiet they play, it will still come through; but will reject the cymbal bleed.
If you’re decreasing the attack on a gate you are slowing down how fast it responds so you are cutting off the beginning of the signal not opening it up
Sorry, miscommunication. Yes, decreasing the numerical value of the gate attack is increasing sonic attack of the kick, so a smaller number is a faster attack. I was looking at 6:30 where he said he was “opening up the attack to let down through” but he increased the attack time from about 100-200micro seconds which is opening the gate later and doing the opposite of what he said he was wanting.

Yes 900-3000
That channel input delay tip was amazing to me. i always use polarity and never thought of the physics of instrument and mic placement like that.
Mixing Drums with the Tools You Have, i was expecting a behringer 8 channel mixer.
😂😂same here
😅😅😅😅
also, Phil. sounds great. I don't think you copied the eq over to the OH SL from SR.. just the compressor. I get the point though.
I don’t think you used enough senhiser mics…
Only thing missing is a Sennheiser polo shirt
We need some actually. Like 4 more but for some other things for drum tricks
I guess he is using an Allen & Heath console because there aren't any from Sennheiser
Is there any way to get access to those awsome multitracks used here? Im kinda impressed of those
X2 please bro 🙏
I love this type of video!
This guy looks like older Matt Bomer from White Collar… also super helpful video 👌
Very helpful! Thanks!
One thing I didn't see you try to use is swapping the compressor before the PEQ
What are the pros/cons of this?

Not typically on digital consoles. The attack is the time it takes for the gate to respond. Decreasing the value makes it open quicker.

dang, that must be a looong bass drum for 3.5ms of delay on the inside mic! that's over 3.5feet of delay 😬
not sure if it's on purpose, but the quality only goes till 360p. maybe the HD version hasn't uploaded
HD is still uploading. Thanks for understanding.
@@mxurocks no worries! sorry to be a bother!

To be honest . . if you can't mix the show with only what you have on this console . . .consider a new career please.
