There are 15 Matchstick Puzzles (fix the equation) presented in this video, Give it a try before checking the solution. Comment if you found an alternate solution.
in all the puzzles you can move 1 stick to go diagonally over the = which makes the math sign for "doesn't equal" and this solves all 15 puzzles
1: 3+6=9, 12: 0+0=0, there are some others where the equation is transposed or a different match can be moved to give the answer.
The first one could be 3+6=9
But that doesn't "fix the equation", it turns it into an equality.
Inequality =/= equation.

Problem 2 alternate: take the vertical match in the plus sign to make the 4 a 9. 9-6=3. Update: see comment by @AzureKyle below.
Problem 6 alternate: take the vertical match in the plus sign to make the 1 a 7. 7-2=5.
Problem 12 alternate: take the middle horizontal in the 6 to make that 6 a 0. 0+0=0.
Problem 14 alternate: 6 + 1 = 7
There's an issue with your Problem 2 alternate. In these puzzles, 9 has a match on the bottom. It's not just a line with a circle, it's a line with a circle and a line underneath, so you can't turn 4 into a 9 by moving one match.
@@AzureKyle You are correct. I forgot about that.
@@maddogfargo3153 also 6 - 7 = -1
#14 alternate 6 - 7 = -1
Puzzle 1. Move the same matchstick to form the second number to a 6. 3+6 = 9
I made it 3+5=8
puzzle 2 you can move a match from the + to the 4 to make a 9 (9-6=3)
got the same
me too
@@slycat123123that works, but I think the nine needs to have a line at the bottom
12th could be 0 + 0 = 0
It can also be 0+6=6
True guys
Same ?l
6th one could be 7 - 2 = 5
Puzzle 2. Move the upright stick from the plus sign to make a 9 out of the first number. 9-6=3
That's not the representation of a 9. Moving 1 stick to or from a 4 won't make it another number. To be become another numbers needs the following moves: 1(remove 2), 2 (reallocation of two and add one), 3 (one reallocation and add one), 5( one reallocation and add one), 6 (one reallocation and add one), 7 (one reallocation and remove 1), 8(three new ones), 9 (two new ones). A 4 cannot become another number with only one move.
@4:36 can also be solved to 7 - 2 = 5 by moving vertical stick of plus sign toadd to first stick making the 1 a 7 .....double solution!
no
@@kaushik_Staryes
On Puzzle 6 I had a different way. I moved the vertical matchstick from the addition sign and moved it horizontally at the top of number 1. Which is 7 - 2 = 5 instead of 1 + 2 = 3.
I also found an alternative answer on Puzzle 11. Instead of 4 + 5 = 7, my alternative answer is -4 + 5 = 1. I’ve done it by moving the horizontal matchstick from the top of 7 and moved it next to the 4 in the beginning of the equation.
By the way, this is a good logic test to get my brain going. Looking forward to more logic videos like this.
Same on puzzle 1
Same
Right
#6 has alternative solution: move vertical match from "+" to "1" to make "7"
That was my solution too.😊
Yup
@@soulrevolutionradio8011 The rules say you're not allowed to do that.
@@soulrevolutionradio8011it will not be equation. Also it is said in the start that it is not allowed
7-2=5
Very nice logic test to get my brain going at the start of the day, thank you.
Rearranging some of the answers, though, breaks the rule of moving only 1 stick. 🙂
#13. I was going to suggest grab the match on top of the 7, break it in two and put the small pieces over and under the - (minus) symbol to turn it into ÷ (division). So 4/4=1 😹
#13 - take the horizontal bar from the 7. Break it in half and put the halves above and below the - sign to make it a division sign
#14 - 6-7 = -1
#14 : from 6+ 7 = 1 ---> 6 +1=7
also: 6 - 7 = -1
The 0+0=6 can also be changed to 0+0=0
That was my initial guess
That was my answer too.
#14 the vertical stick on the "+" can be moved to the other side of the "=" to make "-1", giving: 6-7=-1
And the horizontal one of the 7 can be put at the 1 to get 6+1=7

9:09 Move the "cross bar" of the first 4, by rotating it DOWN a quarter turn (90º) to turn the 4 into an 11 : 11 - 4 = 7.
Класс! Я не догадалась. Вот, что значит пространственное воображение!
I found it easier to think about the possible options mathematically first, then it was easy to spot how you could get numbers you need.
Same
Alternative solutions
#6: use the vertical stick of the plus to turn the 1 into a 7; 7 - 2 = 5
#14: The same as in #5 and #9, use the horizontal stick of the 7 to turn the 1 to a 7; 6 + 1 = 7
#2 9 - 6 = 3
#12 - 0 + 0 = 0
Note, these are guesses while the video is paused between each problem.
Problem 1: Swap the top left of the 9 to make it 3, put it on the bottom left of the 5 to make it 6. 3+6=9
Problem 2: Swap Bottom left of 6 to make it 5, put it on top left of 3 to make it 9. 4+5=9
Problem 3: Swap the vertical line of the plus sign, making it a minus sign, and put it on the 1 to make it 7. 7-5=2
Problem 4: Rotate the middle line of the 4 clockwise to turn it into 11. 11-5=6
Problem 5: Swap the top line of the 7 to make it a 1 and move it on the bottom left of the 5 to make it a 6. 6+1=7
Problem 6: Same as problem 3. 7-2=5
Problem 7: Swap the top right line of 8 to make it a 6 and put it on the bottom left of the 9 to make it an 8. 8-6=2
Problem 8: Two possible solutions for similar answers. Either rotate the middle line of the 6 clockwise to make it a 0 (8+0=8) or Swap the middle line of 8 to make it a 0 and put it in the top right of the 6 to make it an 8. 0+8=8
Problem 9: Swap the top line of 7 to make it a 1 and put it on top of the 1 to make it a 7. 1+6=7
Problem 10: Same as problem 7. 2+6=8
Problem 11: Swap the top left line of the 5 and put it on the top right to make it a 3. 4+3=7
Problem 12: Spotting three solutions for this one, with two of them being almost identical. For the identical ones, take a 0 and rotate the top right line counter-clockwise to make it a 6. Depending on the 0 you pick, it's either 6+0=6 or 0+6=6. Or, you can rotate the middle line of the 6 clockwise to make it a 0 for 0+0=0
Problem 13: Same as problem 4. 11-4=7
Problem 14: Same is problem 9. 6+1=7
Problem 15: Swap the top right stick on the 9 and put it on the bottom left to make it a 6. 7-1=6
problem 14 alternative solution: 6-7=-1
Or 3+5=8😊
@@ИринаКонстантинова-и4юI was thinking the same thing as my first guess
1:44 or you could grab a match from the top cross in the addition symbol to make the 4 a 9 so 9 - 6 = 3
Puzzle 11 could have been changed into -4 + 5 = 1 and would be correct. I'm sure there is more than one way to solve most of them without using the illegal symbols stated at the start of the video.
Yup. :) I liked this solution.
These are kind of fun and interesting. Thanks for this!
In problem no. 6
There is 1+2=5
There we can remove one stick from the '+' sign and join horizontally with the no. 1. So, we get here
7 - 2 = 5
i found this one too.
Wow it's amazing....
It's good for learning with kids.
@ 11:05 #14 can also be solved as 6 + 1 =7 moved horizontal stick of middle digit changing it to a 1, placing free stic at top left of 1 at the end, making it a 7
Or the first on: 3 + 6 = 9
I also picked #14 the same 6+1=7
#14 or 6 - 7 = -1
9:39 Is breaking a stick allowed? If so, then I solved puzzle 13 with 4/4=1, by breaking the top stick of 7 and making a traditional dot-above-and-below-a-minus-sign divided by symbol, like a % straightened out. I noticed that when solving the thumbnail before I clicked.
2nd one could be 9-6=3 if rotations are allowed
Question 14 answer 2, move the top line on the seven to the top of the one and then it’s 6+1=7
Third answer is: 6 -7 = -1
Everybody is here for the alternate answers. The only one that tricked me was the 4 turning into 11. I was expecting negative answers by moving half the plus sign. Haha, no inequalities. They could mostly be solved that way. 😂 I paused a lot though. Some took several minutes. Some I solved multiple ways instantly. I am calling myself below average on this. I only gave up on the 4 to 11 one.
Me too
They actually move 2 left sticks a bit closer, to make number 11, and I believe this is against the rule...
11 - 4 = 7 ....
move 1 horizontal stick on first 4 and make number 11...
Damm getting the 4 into a 11 took me ages ... just was not thinking 2 digits I guess 🥴
0+0=6...instead of changing a zero to a 6 (0+6=6) I changed the 6 to a zero...0+0=0.
They rest came up with your solution. 😊
#1 and #6 have two solutions.
Near the end, you get a feel for the patterns and it gets easier.
Also #2, it can be 9-6=3
12 too
Interesting video
Glad you think so!
question no.2 4+6 = 3 answer move the upright stick from the + and place ontop of the 4 making it a 9 = 9 - 6 = 3
Very good .
In the second puzzle, you also can take a match from the + and place it on the 4, so it becomes a 9, and then, you have 9-6= 3
Muy interesante gracias por la información y la agilidad mental.
14 правильных решений. Спасибо🎉😊
There’s an alternate answer on puzzle 9
You can turn the plus sign into a minus sign and then just put that stick to the side
I mean, simply logical didn’t say that we couldn’t put a stick to the side
Alternative to #2. Take the up match from the plus sign and put it on top of the four. 9-6=3. Puzzle 12 easy alternative answer is move the horizontal stick on six to make it a zero as well. Didn't look at any previous answers prior to submitting the above.
Puzzle 6: move the horizontal match from the + to the 1 to make 7-2=5
Puzzle 8: move the middle match from the first 8 to the 6 to make 0+8=8
Puzzle 12: rotate the middle match in the second 6 onto the empty spot on the same number creating 0+0=0
Puzzle 14: move the top match on the 7 to the 1 creating 6+1=7
amazing, greetings from Bolivia
11-4 = 7
The 1st one that I've solved 🎉🎉🎉
#12 I moved the middle stick on the answer 6 to make the equation 0+0=0 😂 What I saw first, and still was a correct answer! LOL
I like your background beats 👋❤
Oh tooo hard that I can't do all of the answers
But I love studying math you are the best channel
Problem #2 take the vertical plus sign and make it a - then put it on top of the 4 making it a 9 then you have 9-6=3
Simple, I’d take the matchstick between the fours and place it diagonally “/“ over the two “equals” matchsticks.
12 can be also soved as the 6 is converted to 0 the same way the 0 is converted to 6
4:12 You can move the vertical stick of the plus symbol and turn it horizontal and put it on top of the 1 to make it 7-2=5 and thats right as well
Ha good one on the thumbnail. Took me a minute to figure it out what to do with 4 - 4 ! Very devious!! I approve...
On number two take the up and down stick from the plus sign and put it on top of the four.
Best comet ever

#12 alternate solution: 0 + 0 = 6
We also can move the central stick from 6 to make a 0. Then 0 + 0 = 0 😊
Puzzle number two, move the match from the plus sign to make it a minus sign, and put it on top of the four to make it a nine . 9 - 6 = 3
The only easiest solution here is take the equation and make it an *inequation*
Like 4-4=7, move the horizontal line in the 7, rotate it 45° counter clockwise and place it in the equal sign.
Now you get 4-4≠1
Got one right. About to give up around #6
I like the tune
Puzzle number 14. Take vertical stick from + and put it in front of 1. It makes 6-7=-1
11-4=7
Very,very good.
On puzzle 12 you can turn the 6 into a 0
i did the no. 2 differently.
from 4+6=3 ....to.... 9-6=3. (u move the vertical stick from + and put it on top of 4, then u'll get 9)
Puzzle 2, move one from the + sign to the 4 to make it 9-6=3.
For 6 I have a different solution. Move the stick from the plus sign (making it a minus) and add it to the 1 , giving you 7-2=5
So far I've noticed that some of these equations have double solutions. Without breaking the rules, are there any triples?
Q 14- 6 made to 8, 8-7=1. The other way is move top stick from to other side where 1 is there. 1 becomes 7. So, 6+1=7
8:59 another answer could be 0+0=0.
8:54 0+0=0 also possible
9:50 6-7 = -1 also possible
They were much easier than i thought. Fun though.
Question 6 alternative answer. Change the plus into minus by taking the upper matchstick. Place it on the first digit to make 7: 7-2 = 5
Moving one match to convert the 'equal' sign to a 'not equal' sign makes everything piss easy and still mathematically correct.
different solution - second one - make it 9 - 5 =3 moving vertical plus to the top of the 4
Got 9 out of 15. Should have gotten 11.
4 - 4 = 7: put the minus on the equal sign. 44 ≠ 7
The rules don't allow that.
Thanks a lot to you.
This Video Make Me Smart
there is a second answer for #2 (take the vertical stick from the plus and it becomes a minus), then add it to the top of the 4 to make 9. 9-6=3
#9 : 7-6 = 1
removing the vertical bar from the + but not putting it elsewhere is valid ?
#14 : 6 - 7 = -1 ?
Great!!
puzzle #6... move 1 stick from + sign to form 7... 7 - 2 = 5
Alt solution for #12
From 0+0=6 make 0+0=0
For puzzle #6, move the vertical match from the plus sign to the first number to make it a 7. So, 7 - 2 = 5
13 is EZ. Take the minus sign, rotate it diagonally and put it over the equal sign. 44 does not equal 7.
8:54 "0+0=6 goes to 0+0=0" True
Move the minus match and place it on top second 4, gives 49, then assume square root of 49= 7
#14: 6+7=1 Your answer ( 8 - 7 = 1 ). It can made in this way, moved the top stick from 7 to the 1 , ( 6 + 1 = 7 ) which was still kept in the way of addition.
This way is more easier and logical.
Haven’t seen the video. But you solve the thumbnail by making it 11-4=7.
#14 6+7=1, remove the vertical stick from the plus and add it to the answer as a negative sign --> 6-7=-1
Alternative solution for the 8th: take the central stick of the first 8 and put it in the 6, it will be 0+8=8
2:18 Move the top of the 2 to make the 2 into the 6.
Q.2 put the straight line from the plus on top of the four to make it a nine
Puzzle 4 alternative solution: Move the leftmost stick of the 4 infront of the 6:
-1-5=-6
1st one 3+6=9
Very easy !!
Puzzle 12 change the top right second 0 to make a 6 0+6=6
5:03 dont need to move anything, just turn the screen upside down to solve it
There is also a difference between digital and analog numbers, you wouldn't write these numbers on a piece of paper and ask people to fix the equation by moving a matchstick right? Still a really cool experiment!
There is another solution to the 14th problem. You can take the top match off the 7, and that will turn it into a 1. You put that top match on top of the 1, and that will turn it into a 7. That would turn that problem into 6+1= 7.
#8
0+8=8
Center stick of 8 move to upright of 6.
#14
6-7=-1
Puzzle 12. Move middle stick making a zero. 0+0=0
