My older brother has 4 kids, 2 daughters and 2 sons. His boys are 15 and 10, his girls are 13 and 6. He’s in his 30s and most of his hair is already grey 😂

i think that was the main reason why his marriage had the problems it did. He wasn't able to keep his work at work. Even at home being a dad, I think he acted more like a cop than a father.
He said he would consult with his wife on any disciplining of the kids, and then unilaterally punishes them when they do wrong. It got to the point where he and his wife were separated. And I recall his daughter, perhaps the eldest one, basically told him that he had a decision to make - be a part of their lives, or not!
I know what drove him to turn in his papers and leave SVU. And I wonder if his family were glad because now he could be a part of their lives all the time and act like a father rather than a cop.
I know his wife was killed, and he joined OC to go after his wife's killer. What I don't know is whether or not this affected his kids. Was he with the kids to help them cope, or did he more or less abandoned them to focus on going after the killer?
As good a cop Stabler might be, and as good a father he might be, I don't think he ever found the balance between being the two of them. I think he's going to reach a point where he's going to self-destruct, resulting in him losing both his job and his family. If that hasn't happened already.

@@ytafan4068 His daughter tld him that because she found out he and Kathleen were seeing each other for sex afer they separated. Kinda defeats the purpose of separating.
It's implied either that Elliot was more attentive with Eli while in Italy, thus the lack of attention coupled with his mother's death led to Eli turning to drugs, or that Elliot still never paid much attention to Eli and was still a cop. Eli's the only child OC focuses on primarily since most of his kids are already full adults with families.
Video idea: Olivia being a mom to everyone in the squad. Motivational speeches to Elliot, Nick, Rollins, Carisi, Fin, etc. Just caring for them in general (hugs, saving their lives, etc.)

Haha right. My dad was an early riser due to his work, but when my brother or I would barge into his room with our petty shit and he was still in bed, he’d have the same reaction. Like, “What time is it?” or “It’s too early for this shit. Is your mom up yet? Go bother her.”
That clip of Olivia in denial about what Noah might do. He's my sweet innocent boy. Fin is all like he's still young. Is all the times that Olivia told Elliot, she got up to assume crazy shit when she was a teen. So just you wait.
And keep in mind, Noah's actual mom was a junkie turned prostitute, and his dad was a sex trafficker, so Olivia has to keep in mind about him finding out the actual truth.

It makes me mad how Kathy won't back him up. Especially with Maureen was out until 2am and Kathy acts like he was overreacting. There is no reason whatsoever for a 16 year old to be out that late without any adult supervision. She should have stayed grounded until she told him where she was, and then an additional month for what she did. She has to understand that he picks up the dead bodies of little girls who lie to their parents every day. He interviews traumatized children who thought that sneaking out was no big deal until they were raped by some predator who preys on children and teenagers who are not where they are supposed to be. He sees the harsh reality of the world we live in. And NO ONE thinks it will happen to their child until it does. Children don't have the maturity to protect themselves. That is why parents exist.
Also, they left out one of my favorites, when Kathleen was 12 and her 14 year old friend got pregnant. Elliot is trying to talk to her about it and she says "Dad! I'm a virgin, ok?" and he just says "Ok."
I remember that. They were playing soccer, she was the goalie, and he made a not-so-subtle reference to them coming at her from every angle. She said it, but he didn't respond. She kicked the ball to him, and he just stood there, dumbfounded, completely unable to say anything.
I got the same feeling about Kathy. She was always trying to be the "good" guy so Stabler was always playing the "bad" guy with his kids. I think a lot of stuff that happened with the kids would not have happened if they just established a united front.

I agree Kathy was in the wrong to slap him, she wasn’t even trying to help, but Elliot did go over her head and make a massive decision that would effect their child’s life forever. He wasn’t totally in the right either. It’s a damn good thing Liv arranged for his mother to talk to Kathleen to accept the plea.

The original Maureen and Kathleen actresses look so realistically like Elliot and Kathy's daughters I gotta say.
I grew up with something similar to this - not being trusted, the aggressive 20 questions with everything, threatening to remove my door and just... everything else. My uni was less than an hour away and I still friggen moved lol I love and really get on with my dad now tho. This sort of thing is out of desperation, he wants so badly for his kids to be okay
especially with his workplace, the stuff he'd see every day. he didn't want to have his child become a case file on a shelf or just another morgue id.
My mom was like this too. I was living at home in college (expensive city, my school was small and didn’t have a dorm, so I couldn’t afford to live on my own), and I was 22 and wanted to go to a party at a hotel with my friends. The party was literally four or five blocks away. We had a MASSIVE fight, she said there was no way in hell I was going to a party at a hotel with boys after dark. My mom can get real scary and real mean when she’s angry, so I backed down. A few weeks later, my friends were having another party, same hotel. I lied to my mom a couple days in advance, said I was going to a girlfriend’s house to study and hang out and that I’d probably stay the night so my girlfriend could drink if she wanted without needing to worry about taking me home. I had my friend on standby just in case my mom tried to “verify” it but she didn’t. I went to the party, had a great time, ended up spending the night, walked home in the morning so I could be there in time to walk my dog on schedule. Idk if she ever found out, and maybe she did, but if she did, she never confronted me. I think she had her suspicions, and my mom isn’t stupid, but her constant helicopter parenting style made me good at lying when I need to, so who knows. I know why she’s so paranoid, her childhood was bad and her dad was actually a homicide detective for decades, so she knows what’s out there. But at a certain point, you gotta let your kids make decisions on their own.

I remember watching the episode Turmoil and started to crh bc Elliot wouldn't sign the military papers Dickie wanted signed. Elliot didn't sign the papers bc he knew he would never see Dickie again, and he hugged Dickie and they both cried. Dickie lost his best friend in that episode and Elliot was afraid he would lose Dickie. Elliot is such a good father, bro. He does care what the gender of the predator that are approaching his kids, he would do anything and everything in his power to protect his kids even if it costs his job. He loves his kids. He is such a fabulous father!
He fucked up bad in that episode but he still wanted the best for his kid and was genuinely sorry he lost his best friend and couldn't even come to his funeral
