i think gintama is 40% serious if you add the semi-serious arcs if you add eps like guardian dog, kintaro ,jail and madao eps you can say that the half of the show is serious

When I read the manga, I remember Sorachi answering a letter from a fan who said she was housewife. He was surprised, but he asked her to please share Gintama with other housewives. 😂 I'm getting married next year and hope to one day be a Gintama housewife.

Gintama is certainly the one that has made me laugh and cry at the same time, but it's a bit difficult to get into if you are still relatively new to anime as a whole (yes, even after reacting for 3+ years to anime, there is still a long way to go to appreciate some of the Gintama jokes.)
I think Nick will love Gintama, but Nick, the anime is not only mostly comedy, there are lots of serious arcs that are quite epic and there is also a little drama. So when you watch this anime it's like a rollercoaster of emotion
Pretty good episode sums up Gintama. It's a comedy for most of the show and is actually funny even us viewers outside of Japan. Some people may basically call it filler since there isn't any progression in the main story but it's these moments that make you fall in love with all the characters the series has to offer such as this episode with the interactions between the main trio, shinsengumi and shop owners. Then when it gets to the serious arcs it hits way harder than it should be. I can't really think of a show that could make me laugh and cry (sad) as much. I would definitely recommend it but when you start is up to you since there are some parodies you won't get if you haven't seen it. There were definitely some I didn't get but able to overlook.

I've watched over 500 anime and there were a lot of dramas and shounen that were coolm mature and flashy, but this is the one that touched my soul the most. It makes you laugh and suddenly you are in bed with it. Behind the 11/10 comedy there is a deep life message I won't forget.
Fav comedy animes for me have been: - "Lovely Complex"- a romantic comedy. A bit old now but many of the comedy scenes were extremely memorable. - "Asobi Asobase" - This one is just pure comedy. It really comes in out of nowhere with some of the things that happen in it but it had my elder bother and I laughing all night when we binge watched it. I've not seen much of "Nichijou" nor "Keroro gunsou" (also known as "Sgt. Frog") but the few scenes I've seen from both either from youtube or from pausing while cycling through channels on the TV were extremely memorable with how ridiculous they were as well.
You should definitely pick it up. Episodes are always absurd shenanigans like this with non stop jokes. It does get serious and heartfelt sometimes to actually tell really amazing stories though and you go from laughing out loud to crying real fast.
Easily in my top 3 or 5 of favorite series. Definitely feel you would enjoy a full watch. The beginning can be a bit slow, survive that and it gets incredible.

This anime you can see someone set water on fire. Asobi Asobase - A slice-of-life anime about 3 girls just having fun everyday. Also butt lasers. Sleep Princess in the Demon's Castle - A 'captive' princess who was abducted by the demon king. The princess gives 0 crap about being abducted, all she cares about is her sleep quality and she will obtain the means to do so. Even if it means breaking out of the jail she is in and terrorizing the demon populace. Isekai Ojisan - We have isekais before but someone returning from another world? Follow Ojisan who's finally returned to Earth at the age of 30-something and he can use magic. He's also very ugly to the point the inhabitants of the other world always mistaken him as an orc. And try to kill him. Excel Saga - I put this last here because this anime imo is the OG brainrot. It's the first true 'comedy' anime I ever watched and its final anime special is... extremely borderline R18.
You should watch it! I’ll give you money just to start off the first 50 eps. After that - you will not abandon this anime! It’s straight peak every single episode, once you fall in love with every main characters and the others!
You desperately need to watch episodes 25 and 79 and 113 and 38. Some of the most insanely funny episodes of anything ever. For those in the know, the episodes are the hotpot battle, the toilet paper battle, cleaning Shinsengumi HQ, and the snowy first introduction of the iconic Neo Armstrong Cyclone Jet Armstrong Cannon!

lol good luck picking this anime up xD! It's a parody gag anime for the next 4-5 seasons until you get to the actual story then it's back to gags again! Not to mention that most of the gags are Japanese lingo/jokes so you may not get all of it. However, once you get to the STORY holy moly it's actually gooooood & it has very memorable and amazing quotes in anime history too!
not in any particular order: Gintama Grand Blue GTO (Great teacher Onizuka) Prison School all are worthy of at least a first (maybe first two ep watch)

Back in the day instead the big 3 it was supposed to the big 4 naruto one piece bleach and gintama but gintama wasn't as popular as the big 3 so a lot of people don't think about it.
Gintama and ghost stories are my favorite comedy Animes. Golden Kamuy also deserves a mention for having good comedy moments but its mostly an adventure type of show
100% u have to pick it up one day some episodes made my cry from laughing out loud it starts a bit slow since introducing chars and stuff after that it gets better and better same with the animation, story telling is really good it will make u laugh cry and all emotions. There is so much to say but its the best if u watch it it will make fun of the animators and the staff itselfs on other animes, i really do hope that u pick it up one day

lol good luck picking this anime up xD! It's a parody gag anime for the next 4-5 seasons until you get to the actual story then it's back to gags again! Not to mention that most of the gags are Japanese lingo/jokes so you may not get all of it. However, once you get to the STORY holy moly it's actually gooooood & it has very memorable and amazing quotes in anime history too!

Back in the day instead the big 3 it was supposed to the big 4 naruto one piece bleach and gintama but gintama wasn't as popular as the big 3 so a lot of people don't think about it.

Gintama and ghost stories are my favorite comedy Animes. Golden Kamuy also deserves a mention for having good comedy moments but its mostly an adventure type of show

100% u have to pick it up one day some episodes made my cry from laughing out loud it starts a bit slow since introducing chars and stuff after that it gets better and better same with the animation, story telling is really good it will make u laugh cry and all emotions. There is so much to say but its the best if u watch it it will make fun of the animators and the staff itselfs on other animes, i really do hope that u pick it up one day

Fun fact: Restaurant owner shows up in a lot prior to this, he's the usual go-to but it's never 100% pointed out so it's easy to miss. Also, his wife takes over the business after this ep.
