I designed my favorite eurorack module! - The ADDAC Random Bezier Waves
ฝัง
- เผยแพร่เมื่อ 28 พ.ค. 2024
- Best day ever! I have been working on a module with the amazing people over at ADDAC, and it’s finally here! The Random Bezier Waves is an easy to use dual organic random voltage generator. Both waves have manual and CV control over frequency and output level. Curve and offset control, as well as three different clipping modes allow for a lot of different waves, from calm organic flowing voltages to chaotic jumping madness. The module produces 6 wave outs, and has two different gate outputs on top, making it great for patch-driving features and generative setups.

Hello everyone! Super excited to announce the Random Bezier Wave to all of you! It captures all my love for smooth random voltages, and I’m very grateful ADDAC did such a good job making the module a reality!

I already love it simply because you put attenuation on the output! More modulation sources need attenuation on the output, because despite what people say, not every input has an attenuator on it!
Not just Level but Offset too! Great module
Truth
Although this module seems to be an exception I disagree. And the reasoning “not all modules have input attenuation” is just weird to me because you can say the same thing the other way around and could argue that no input attenuation is a design flaw and not buy the module.
Input attenuation is, IMO, the better solution. Outputs always have the max range and attenuation is done at the input makes more logical sense to me.
Thanks! And very true! Especially because in a lot of cases you will 'add' random modulation to other things, for example to a filter, beside a regular envelope modulation. That mostly means you end up using inputs without dedicated attenuation or control. I felt like the these features make this a module that can also function in a smaller setup, without needing a set of utilities and VCAs next to it :)
@@MonotrailTechTalk Also, because of the drive’s and “waveform” shape controls the level attenuator seems like an integral part of the shaping more than just attenuation. Scale is maybe a better label than level..
I know, I’m nitpicking. This genuinely seems like an awesome module. And that’s coming from someone who doesn’t feel a lot of need for random modules.
Congratulations on getting to this point, I hope ADDAC sell a load of these so you get what you deserve :) Great man.
Hey, thank you! And me too, haha. I'll be mentioning and promoting this one for a while. Mostly just genuinely using it though :)
Wow Monotrail That is quite an achievement
Congratulations
What a great and creative vision you have conceptualized and materialized
Best Of Luck
Hope to see many videos of your new module
All the Best
Thank you very much! Super happy to get so many positive messages. And more to come for sure!
Great to see a new take on this. Modular is all about modulation and this is a keeper ! Congrats :)
Thank you! Glad to hear you like it. Cheers :)
Great module and a very nice feature set! 👏
Glad you like it!
Great module! instant in the wish list!
Nice! Glad to hear it :)
Great work...really brilliant design!
Hey, glad you like it! Cheers :)
And there it was... at 24:14 the module gained self awareness.
Hahaha, it's alive!!!!! :)
Congrats! Really nice design 😀
Thank you Tom, glad you like it! :)
Fantastic !
This is going to the top of my buying list
Nice! Glad to hear it :)
Wow, so cool!! Congrats😍⚡️🫶🏻
Haha, thank you ❤️❤️❤️ :)

Got mine . Arriving tomorrow 🙌
Awesome! Thank you for the support, and enjoy the module! :)
Looks like U've taken the standard 'Attenuverter' to the 'Next Level' -Bitchin’!😎
Glad you like it! Cheers :)
Got a lot of edu from your videos. 507 on the way!
Ahh, nice! Very happy to hear people get good value out of my videos! And of course happy you like the module as well, enjoy! :)
That‘s a really nice approach to random/uncertainty. Lots of possibilities on a small footprint ❤
Thanks! And agree, that was exactly the idea. Even for smaller systems random is great, but you often need more VCAs, mixers, offset etc to dial in the right effect. This will solve all that, and make any system flow around :) Cheers!
Congratulations for a module that offers graceful movement to our modulations. Bravo!
Glad you like it!
Looks great, congratulations!🤘
Thanks!! All the best :)
Very cool! Might have to try this out!
Glad you like it :) Cheers!
Got mine a few days ago, it’s awesome!!
Hey, awesome! Very happy you like it, and thanks for pulling the trigger and your support! Enjoy the module!
Congratulations, you deserve all the success this will bring, ADDAC are absolute beasts in the modular world, glad you guys are working together!
Much appreciated, and totally agree! They have a great range of modules, and very excited to be a part of it! :)
Fantastic module! congrats mate 🚀🚀
Thank you! Keep up the great tunes! :)
Congratulations! This is the most exciting CV-source module I’ve seen in years. Extraordinary! It exemplifies what modular formats facilitate.
Thank you!! That means a lot to me :) And agree. I think random voltages and complex modulation are one of the most exciting things in modular land. Voltages like these easily push modular patches beyond what most fixed architecture synths can do. Cheers!
That's awesome! That goes straight on my 'next to buy' list.
Hey, nice! Love to hear that of course :) All the best!
Congrats on the new module! Looks like a great companion to the Stochastic Function Generator!
Thank you! And it is! That ADDAC506 has been a solid modulator in my rack every since I got it. Still very happy with it!
Looks and sounds great! Hopefully it will be available soon in Germany. Love me some uncertainty 👍 gonna get this asap.
Thank you! In the EU you can order directly from ADDAC, Germany is no problem shipping wise. But you're also very warmly invited to send a message to your favorite retailer asking for he module :)))) All the best!
Indeed, something to be really proud of. Congrats!
Hey, thank you very much! Appreciate that, and have to say I am :) All the best to you and your channel!
I’ve been thinking about how much I want attenuation and offset on my Sloths module. This does it! I predict that when I plug in 4 outs from this into Let’s Splosh, I will ascend to heaven. Great work 🤘🫠
Nice! Glad you like it!
Ziet er goed uit!
Dank je!
love this concept , ive ordered one . Cannot wait to mess with this
Hey, awesome! Thanks a lot for the support, and enjoy the module! :)
ordered :) thank you been looking for something like that
Hey, awesome! Thanks for the support, and enjoy the module! :)
nice one, i have been looking for random module with this kind of control and userbility
Nice! Glad you like it! :)
This is very exciting 🎉
I agree! Haha, all the best :)
Congrats! 🎉
Thank you! Very happy with this. Cheers!
I have 10HP for a random module, I was between the SSF Ultra-Random Redux and the Nano VCV Random; but now this one is on the list too. It is hard to choose only one of them. ^^
Oooh, fit's exactly! Saw some nice random modules being released the last weeks indeed. Of course I am biased, but also fair, all modules have differences and different design philosophies, take your time figuring out what suits your needs best! :)
Congrats, looks like a really cool module! 😍
Thank you! And glad you think so :) I have been playing around with this one for a while and enjoying it a lot. Will come by and say hi if you guys are on Superbooth again!
@@MonotrailTechTalk Clever controls are really the key to musical random, and you've nailed it! We'll be happy to see you at Superbooth and show you our new modules. We'll be almost at the same spot as last year, booth W477. 😉
Nice, see you there!
Still dope module!!
Amazing! As a graphic designer I always wondered how Bézier curves could be integrated into CV generation.
Really well done!
Hey, nice to hear! I am a graphic designer as well, lived from it for 12 years before moving to TH-cam. So now we know :) All the best with your work!
Congrats!!! Great module!
Glad you liked it! :)
congrats! this is wonderful
Hey, thank you! Very happy to hear that :) All the best!
Congratulations! You folks have come up with a winner.
Hey, glad you think so! I for one am super stoked about it, haha. Cheers!
Great design!
Thank you! Glad to hear it :)
Flipping awesome mate!!
Haha, thank you Probbie! :)
Absolutely brilliant. Bravo !
Thank you! Glad you like it :)
Small but unique and versatile module. Congratulations! 👏

Awesome! Congrats Rijnder & ADDAC :) Looking forward to see where this module will take everyone's patches!!
Hey, thank you! And me too :) All the best with your work!
Beautiful work, congrats on the release!
Thank you! Glad to hear it's appreciated :)
CONGRATS Monotrail!!! This is great!
Thank you, verry happy with this!
Sounds amazing. And I agree. Getting those kind of modulation shapes has been challenging. I had some good success with randomly addressing a sequencer (Muxlicer) and adding slew. This module seems to provide even better results.@@MonotrailTechTalk
Congratulations!! That's so exciting and thank for your contribution towards bringing this great new module into the world!
Thank you! And verry happy this module is finally out there. I have been testing and using it for a while and really excited it's out in the wild now :)
Gongrats! Very well designed module with music in mind
Thank you! And indeed, it's very much driven by musical sound design wishes, rather than a technical possibility. I will be using this a lot, and hope some other people will enjoy it too! Cheers :)
Awesome! I love the sound! Congratulations 🎊 👏
Hey, glad to hear you lik it Andrea. All the best!
Congrats!
Thank you! :)
Congratulations 🎉 It looks super. I love random cv.
Thank you!!! Me to, smooth random all the way! Cheers :)
Nice one Rijn! How cool!
Thank you so much! Super excited about this :)
Congratulations, must be great to see an idea become reality!
Hey, absolutely it is! After testing and trying this module for some time I am super excited it's finally out in the wild for real! All the best :)
Congratulations, and great work! I think I'll pick one up! Love the videos, man
Hey, thanks! Glad to hear you like it! Cheers! :)
This module is freaking brilliant!
Oh, thank you! Glad you like it! :)
Brilliant, and great choice of collaborator.
Hey, glad you agree! I have been enjoying the ADDAC506 a lot! And they have a few other creative modules with different ideas, but similar format :)
@MonotrailTechTalk I've been a huge fan boy of ADDAC from day one of my euro adventures. My first modules came from trading a high end Nikon + lens for a group of quality modules, among those was an ADDAC module that was an official port of the EHX Organ pedal. That was an *amazing* module, I've always regretted the circumstances which forced me to unload it. I've reached out to ADDAC to grab one of these, so well done!!
wow, congrats! Amazing module that is added to my next purchase list - right up my alley!
Ohh, awesome! Very happy you like it, and thanks for your support!
Like this design. Need to test it out.
Glad you like it! And hope you can :)
Very thoughtful, clever design! Nice work and congratulations on the release!
Thank you very much!
Super well thought out design! I love the whole idea! 👍
Hey, thank you! That's good to hear :)
I want this! Very cool.
Awesome! Glad to hear you liked it! :)
Im so glad your thoughts have finally become circuits bro ! epic !
Haha, yes! Me too :) Thanks for checking in, cheers!
This module has your "voice" slathered all over it. Looks great!
Haha, thanks! And very happy to have this module wit hall my smooth random voltage wishes :)
cooool! 👏👏👏👏👏
Thank you! Cheers!
congrats! looks like a really nice module, and a fresh look at random. less coloured noise and more wave's they sound great too
Haha, thanks! And indeed, more waves, more modulation :)
saw this elsewhere & didn't initially know you were involved with it. Really well thought out module!
Hey, glad you like! That's good to hear. All the best :)
Wow! Congratulation : D
Thank you!!! :)
Good stuff
Glad you liked it! :)
Ooh! This is NICE!
Glad you like it Martin! Cheers :)
Until now, I've been using Mutable Instruments Peaks in Tap LFO S&H mode for something similar, with the difference being lack of CV control (at least in its original form) and only linear-to-smooth interpolation (not the spikes), but the advantage being the additional pattern matching of incoming triggers, so you can match rhythms and not just frequencies.
Hey! And yes, me to! Peaks is great and can do a lot, I had it permanently in dual LFO at random voltage mode. It was a big inspiration for this module as I was using it all the time, but just didn't offer al the options and control over shapes I would like :)
I can see, what you did there. It’s like double the smooth output of the Wogglebug but with more control over the waveshape.
I found that a lot or random modules are to much a set of random features for me. I really see this more as a go-to dual LFO, creating voltages I basically use in every patch, rather than a set of 'random' tricks :)
Very cool 😎
Thank you!
Dude I am happy for you, congrats! I believe this is a new approach to random voltages, first time I hear about bezier functions. What probably comes close is the Lorenz chaotic signal generators. What I think is great is the internal cross modulation. Good to see new approaches on random generators!
Hey, thanks for the kind words! I am very happy so many people leave enthusiastic replies :) Keep up the patching, and all the best!
I love this! Hope it sells well. I always find your videos so educational. This module does interesting things I can't easily do, and I love the randomness.*wondering if I have room in my box*
Thanks! And me too :) Glad to hear you enjoy the videos as well, and already exited to use this module in a lot of patches! All the best :)
Nice!!
Thank you! Cheers!
Nice. Although i wonder if it doesn't just sound like the same old random wobbling in the end. But definitely a step forward from sth. like the old wogglebug.
Super Cool Module ! Congrats:) SSF Redux,Nano Modules VCV Random are very usefull but This is a organic Machine for endless sonic Xperiments.
Thank you! And glad to hear you like it! Indeed I saw a couple of new and fun random modules hit the market over the last weeks, but still all different :) Cheers!
Nice
Thanks!
I love ambient patches, so I can’t decide which to get first, this or the Swell Physics by ADDAC.
Hello! there was someone on Modwiggler asking the difference, thought I'd share the same answer here :) -- I got in touch and interested in ADDAC because they already have a couple of great modules in their lineup. Indeed, there is some overlap with the Swell Physics! Big difference is that the Swell Physics generates waves on a ‘single’ simulation. So all four outputs follow the same speed, settings, and modulation inputs, even though they can have several stages of delay relative to each other. The Bezier Waves has two independent generators. For me it’s very similar to and competing with a normal dual LFO. One can create fast fluttery waves, the other very slow fluctuations. Also the fact each of them can be modulated independently makes a big difference! They can cross modulate, or again, have one be modulated into madness, while the other still generates very calm movements. For me the Bezier Waves is a lot more direct, and 'predictable' in its operation. But make sure to read the manuals, there are a couple of big differences in my opinion, but for sure they could be used in similar situations, so it’s a personal preference!
I wish there is sort of one channel version of this in 4hp
Just get the two channel version ;) Cheers!
@@MonotrailTechTalk probably for the recording case
Great idea! Very inspiring! Is it clockable? Via the freq input? Or you have to tune it by ear? Thanks!
Thank you! And no clock or sync options. If you like clocked random there are quite some modules that do that well. This is really about un-synced organic modulation :)
@@MonotrailTechTalk Makes sense! Thank you, Rijnder. Beautiful design!
Superb. Gives NLC's chaos modules a run for their money. Practically, how is the bezier interpolation going to be different from slew?
Thanks! A big difference is the 'S' shaped interpolations, creating a smooth organic transition, where slew is linear. I show this in the intro of the video, around 2:40. This module can do both :) Also, if you have a separate random and slew module, its very difficult to have the slew rate 'match' the speed of the random voltage. Also not a problem with this module :)
Better than average and inverted average, IMHO, would be average and '''difference'''. Not too hard to patch that myself, but for sure harder than inverting the average, which you can often get "for free" with an attenuverter at the destination. Sum and difference of two modulation signals can work really together, creating a mix of correlated and anticorrelated motion. This is why I love matrix mixers with inversion per cell (as opposed to inverting the whole row/column ie input/output).
Um, I like the module and hope to buy it. It would be really cool if optional firmware could replace the inverted average with a difference.
As long as I'm wishing for pie in the sky, I wish all random sources had save/recall seed functionality so you could get "repeated random" modulation signals. I really like repetitive music...
I'll email Dieter to see if he can add that to the A-118 😅
Hey, sorry, missed your comment! Thanks for the feedback. And have to say I love matrix mixers for that trick as well :) There are lot's of little ideas that have interesting use for sure, but we kept it pretty straight forward and simple. Will note some good ideas down though :) All the best!
hello. nice. im curious how can you trigger this module, if you want to have this randomisation in clock. here, i dont see that you are using the frequency cv input with external cv. so, how do you suggest to get it done? thx.
Easy, you don't! f you like clocked random, tempo synced sample and hold, etc, there there quite some options out there. This one is all about non synced random :)
ok than. thx@@MonotrailTechTalk
Interresting module!
How slow and how fast can the module go? Does it go into audio rate so it can be used for a sound source itself?
Hi there! The range is limited and really focused on having good control around 'musical' speeds. So no audio-rate speeds- Range between each interval is from 25 milliseconds fully clockwise to a minute fully counter clockwise. All the best!
@@MonotrailTechTalk I just ordered one. Great design! I came back to this video to ask the same question, since the frequency range is not stated in the user manual.
I’ve learned so much from your videos. Thank you!!
Can anyone here tell me how this compares to the SSF Ultra-Random Redux? Do they complement each other, or do they mostly overlap? Thank you. 🙏
Thanks! And if you don't mind I answer myself :) I think they are quite different. The SSF URR is a great module I look at as a 'Toolbox for random signals' It has all the classics, like stepped random, sample and hold, audio rate noise/pulses, trigger/sync inputs etc. Make sure to check DivKid's video on it if you haven't seen it yet!
On the other side I see my module more as a competitor for a dual LFO. In use it competes with that. Instead of using simple looping modulation, I find organic voltages so much more rewarding. It's similar to a good dual LFO, but with organic voltages. Easy and independent freq and level control, cross modulation etc etc.
But if you want a random toolbox with all the classic features, The Random Bezier Waves isn't your best choice!
@@MonotrailTechTalk Thank you. That is extremely helpful. Sounds like there is a place for both in my rack. 🙂
🙏🙏🙏
Thank you! :)
Oh, another of those random voltage generators 😒
WHERE CAN I GET ONE!!!???🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩

Hello there and friendly greetings!
First of all, my best compliments for your new module! It sounds badass AF!!
Depth, character, emotion and story. Those are the keywords that resound in my head after your video! Being a huge lover of randomness in patches I can greatly appreciate the functionalities of your module! The "organic" factor is a must in my humble and little patches, as long as a good dose of randomness.
Too bad, at the moment I don't have any hardware I could use your module in.
Also, as last thought, I still cannot understand why all those bleeps and boops and rumbles are so charming, mesmerising and fascinating! But they are! And thanks to your tutorials I am learning "how deep is the rabbit hole" and how incredibly fascinating and enticing it is.
I wish you all the possible best! 😉👍
Thank you very much! Happy you like it :) Always makes me very happy to hear people get some value out of these videos, not matter what hardware you end up using! All the best :)
@@MonotrailTechTalk eh, it is hard to describe how much value I got from your videos! You see, most of the tutorial I've found around are focused on one module or are focused on one synth. They are ok, don't get me wrong, but they do not teach the fundamental, they "just" teach how to use a specific "instrument". It's like learning how to code by learning one programming language rather than learning the logic and the basic know-how of programming (regardless of programming language), I hope I made myself clear... 😅
This is the reason why I like and value your videos so much. 😉
Also... I just discovered you are a 360° artist!!!!
Just bought it! Perfect circuit shows them now!
Ahh awesome! Thank you, and hope you will enjoy the module! :)
Congratulations, looks very useful. I can feel the GAS building.
Thank you! Sorry for the GAS, but also a little bit not sorry in this case :) All the best!
