Dass Heavy Metal langlebig ist, beweist besonders das Wacken Open-Air. Das norddeutsche Festival hat sich über 20 Jahre einen internationalen Namen als Metal-Mekka gemacht - nicht nur dank der Dokumentarfilme "Full Metal Village" und "A Headbanger's Journey".
Viele Fans verplanen fürs Wacken ihren Jahresurlaub, reisen schon eine Woche vorher mit dem Zelt an und genießen die entspannte Atmosphäre. Das kleine Dorf bei Itzehoe wird so einmal im Jahr von Kutten und Mattenträgern eingenommen. Zum 20. Geburtstag des Festivals hatten 68 Bands für die 4 Bühnen zugesagt, und das Line-Up war mehr als eindrucksvoll.
