Can we do something about the intermittent ads? Progressive is specifically mixed to create a cohesive journey, and ads before or during every transition completely defeats the purpose :(
Strange that no one responded to John Rakowski's chat remark, bitching about DJ Mag "allowing" an actor to feature on TH-cam. Kristian Nairn was already a busy and respected Trance DJ with a residency in Northern Ireland for years before a friend in Belfast happened to mention that the makers of a completely unknown TV series were looking for a giant man to play a giant character who had only one line to say. Not being an actor, Kristian turned up out of curiosity; and the rest - as they say - is television history. But I've learned from personal experience - after 30+ years of DJing - that people without a regular paying gig are always the first to criticise how a professional gets the job done. Nairn knows exactly how to blow up a dance floor, and I don't care how he does it!
All the haters under these comments are losers who's greatest achievement in their DJ'ing "career" is to have 5 of their friends come over to pop some pills and listen to their sets. Then they go to streams like DJ Mag's and type shit like "lol, this ain't nothing bruh, I do it way better".
Yep, i'm impressed, this sounds really good, like, i was going to just check quickly and ended up stuck listening to his set, it's just so good, this is how i like trance to be.
This set is only gonna get slagged off by those who just want to see nice looking women shaking their chests and then crashing through the transitions with tone matched tunes that make the set sound totally the same for an hour. Kristian, IMHO, bring some of the late-90s Trance DJ vibes to the new era. He is zoned into the tunes, really understanding what "trance" is all about. We don't have much female vocal EDM type stuff. We have deep and intelligent, almost progressive Trance, which as an old Trance head is awesome to hear. This set takes you somewhere in your head. We get nice long transitions to keep us in the groove until we realise that there has actually been a transition. Again IMHO, exactly what a DJ should do. We also don't get ridiculous "flair", endlessly twitching at the controls pretending he is busy and doing something for the camera. He is letting the music do the work and he is eyes closed enjoying it as we should be. DJing is not a show where everyone just watches. DJing is about bringing clubbers, ravers, crasher/shiny/whatever kids together to pay homage to the repetitive beat. AND THEN HE ADDS A THIRD DECK IN @ th-cam.com/video/9Piaa7mgzjc/w-d-xo.html...GTFO all you haters

But being from Northern Ireland myself, and after hearing him compose such an awe inspiring mix of beautiful music. I am now a fan of dj Kristian nairn. I used to dj myself many many years ago, as I watch this, all I can think about is playing the decks right now. Damn why did I sell them. 😭😭😭😭👍👍

I'm not big on trance, but I like to observe DJs who spin electronic music to learn a few things about transitioning smoothly and using effects subtly to enhance things without them being overbearing. His technique is so smooth it's like he's conducting an electronic orchestra behind those decks.
Very well-put. I was always skeptical about Djs who constantly touch the knobs during sets and in my opinion, most of them, are doing this just in order to look like they are doing too big of a deal, when in reality, they aren't. I'm seeing alot of hate in the chat on his mixing....What I'm seeing is subtle transitions between tracks...smooth and flowing sound. Beat counting and someone clearly passionate about this music. At the end of the day everyone has their own style so why copy another DJ's "mixing".
@Rob Roy Yeah he is isn't just going from drop to drop. This is almost an "old school" mixing style The way DJ's use to do it, where the mix felt like one long song, rather than a barrage of drops for an hour. - This is how to properly mix music, especially super melodic stuff such as this.

Great set! I would have never guessed in a million years that Kristian Dj's. Massive respect to the big man!
i watched some of this yesterday but i needed my real headphones to truly appreciate how clean of a mix this is.
This is soooo good, the only thing to do when it's over is to hit replay!
Brace yourselves... beats are coming! I don't actually watch GoT either, I just clicked because of the awesome beard/tats combo and then my mind was blown!!!
So many are butt hurt over the fact that this man had an acting gig!! GET OVER YOURSELVES. I don't care if the biggest actor/actress of the day plays a set, if they are truly talented and keeping trance real, that's all I care about. And this dude is LEGIT. Real trance, not some corny top 40 remix non-sense.
This is some high quality mixing and an amazing selection. Pleasantly surprised by his skills.
Fuck you
Damn this brings me back to the years of oakenfold, robert miles, darude (before the memes) and stuff like that...awesome stuff.
yes indeed, thoae where the good times of music. the good thing is, electronic/trance/house will never die.
Also you forgot to mention Fatboyslim
Yes! Sasha, Tiesto, Acosta!
Try Hernan Cattaneo, Solomun and Quivver.
Haven’t heard a good mix like this in a while. Wonderful!
A wise man once said ( maxwell fraser from faithless AKA maxi jazz) GOD IS A DJ..... The closest God like DJ ive seen on this channel so far... smashing set Kristian Nairn ...keep up the good work Brother !
He needs to open a club in Ireland and call it "Hold The Door".
maybe...the club beyond the wall :)
You could trim that club name down to just: DOOR.
Hold The Dance Floor
You're a genius! I'd be there every weekend even though I'm living in England XD
ok, this is a good one
For all the ignorant noobs in the room, he's been a dj for a long while. Played major venues over many years..Better transitions than most of your faves.
Exactly don't talk crap about a Dj just because you don't know him, we that are here do know who he is and are enjoying the performance. DJ Mag only brings on the best and if his style of mixing and music aren't up to your taste, then feel free to find the exit.....I'm sure someboody on youtube is playing justin bieber for you somewhere
Hating on the internet is one of the easiest things you can do in life, no wonder so many bitter individuals with low self-esteem are drawn to it lol
I was just thinking. Theres no knob tweaking no showboatting. Just simple basic fader and bass knob mixing how it used to be.
Better cheesey track selection than most of my faves for sure. "Transitions" isn't everything but he's better than the Vegas crap I'll give him that much.
John Rakowski is the biggest ignorant noob in the room holy fuck his armchair warrior fighting Another idiot that has no clue who this guy is. He prob dont even know who Digweed is either because doesnt do Coachella or Vegas and John was still wearing diapers in the 90's
Hes so wicked amazing and u can tell he just loooooves what hes doing and it shows in just how FREAKN AWESOME it sounds. A million thumbs up u gentle giant
Chhiiiaaaah!!! I love this guy. More love from Kenya 🇰🇪
Please hold my door.
Hodor's reveal was one of the best dam episodes of that show!
true
Crow's Music & Movies agreed it’s the only part of game of thrones that still has stuck with me.
God job Hodor, I always knew you have hidden skills :D !! Love it !!
Hodor be holding it down 💪💪
it looks like he feels and and gets into the music, nice
Incredible tune selection, everyone who hears me pumping it out asks what it is. Spreading the love dude, keep it up.
HODOR!!!! Thank you for that beautiful journey!
b0bleader HODOR
One of the best mixes, i listened lately. This guy suprised me. I was thinking ah its another guy wanna be a DJ. But woah this guy is good.
Thats cause he was DJ long before GoT.
I'm seeing alot of hate in the chat on his mixing....What I'm seeing is subtle transitions between tracks...smooth and flowing sound. Beat counting and someone clearly passionate about this music. At the end of the day everyone has their own style so why copy another DJ's "mixing".
I’m clearly out of the loop. Don’t even know who Guy J is. :/
Bruuuuhhhh..... Look up guy j!
@Rob Roy Yeah he is isn't just going from drop to drop. This is almost an "old school" mixing style The way DJ's use to do it, where the mix felt like one long song, rather than a barrage of drops for an hour. - This is how to properly mix music, especially super melodic stuff such as this.
Yeah but these songs are pretty bad...
Very impressed myself!
Came here for Hodor, stayed for the music. Awesome set !
Great set . Can see hes lovin it nothing like havin a mix u love .
WTF Hodor a progressive trance DJ? AWESOME! 😁
Very anjuna like! Good tracks, old school mixing techniques. Now this is trance. Need an ID on 30 min track though!
Agreed. Who has the track ID? 🙏
Loving this, I only knew he was a DJ when he said it in an interview about OFMD! Love progressive trance!
whenever im feeling blue this is the set i go to ... brilliant imo
WTF!!!!!! Im blown away by this music, so glad i clicked on the link :000
been following kristian for a long time as a DJ,he truly has a Huge passion for Djing and for his love of House and Underground. The dude has 20+years of Djing experience, but the most important thing is that he truly loves being a DJ. And i love his Tunes aswell! Also kristian is 7foot tall,so i wouldent want to make him angry lol
MUCH better than season 8...show lost its purpose with him fulfilling his destiny! Now he is back at fulfilling his real life destiny. Holding the Dancefloor!
I'd rename myself to DJ HOLFLOOR
What an epic set! I'm so glad I stumbled across this!
Dang Kristian is an amazing DJ! U can feel his passion for this
Was happily surprised to see this! Good for you man. I enjoyed the set! Thank you.
You bringing more fire than Daenerys Targaryen's dragons!!! LOVE THIS!!!
Added to my workout and beach music set selection. Respect!
This is still one of my favorite sets.
This mix absolutely killed IT!
At 44 min mark he really winds up for the drop. Love it.
Great mix Kristian. Thank you so much
that DJ deck is probably up at my nose level
The way he bobs to the beat is hypnotic to put it simply
Not only are you awesome at holding the door, you are an amazing mixer and DJ.
