I hear you...I miss the way it was before too..we just have to make lemonade and get back to basics the best we can...it's possible...choose a simpler life...be happy 😊
2024... still in the midst of COVID cause people thought it would be fun to stop trying to avoid spreading a virus that causes brain damage in at least 1/10 infections... Sigh! :(
This reminds me of when my cousins, siblings & I were all growing up together. Man you can’t get the old times back. Kinda sad but it’s comforting to remember it all the same.
It’s comforting when you know it wasn’t a dream, and thats how it really was. It’s extremely sad when you realize, that no matter how hard you try, you can never really give it to your children nowadays.
I love this song really miss growing up in Newfoundland listen to this every day with a bunch of people outside having fun and dance on the sidewalk to this tune
This song illustrates so well how much things have changed in the past 20 years or so... The world was a much simpler place when I was a kid back in the 80s.
My son sent me this. We don't get to go back in time but a little respect and civility would be welcome again. Would be a big help if our polititians were known for their good deeds once again rather than their big greeds.
I use to say the same thing, but slow down and enjoy 13 while you can. I'm only 19, and I realized this once I turned 18. Don't get me wrong, I did things when I was 16 that I will look back on forever and smile, and I hope to make more memories like that when I'm 21, but I also had some of the greatest times in middle school when I was your age. And driving is great! Until your truck breaks down and youre late to school/work, but looking back, even that was a great time lol
+Luke Pekarek don't grow up too fast there young buck. It ain't everything they make it to be. I'm 18 goin on 19 I live with my girlfriend and we have full time jobs. Yea that parts great but I find myself wishin more and more to be five or six again ridin in my dads truck with him every day to work
Luke Pekarek don't miss your life. Live it up while you can. You'll wish you were younger when you are older. Trust me. I'm 18 and wish I could be like 12 again
Good times are simpler times...decide to choose a simpler life...a better way...just make up your mind to let into your life only what you want and leave the rest behind...its easy...be truly happy 😊
"I like the old and out dated way of life "..... Sure it is, sure it is, and it is true 100% true... Few goes back and remembering their past and many have already forgotten them... BTW 19 yrs old here always looking back to the past... I really miss back when and then 😔😔😔
I'd do anything to live in my parents generation. Things just seem much simpler. Its hard now days cause the way everybody is, but i'm proud to say im one of the few who, i guess you could say, has an "old soul".
Yeah. Back when the comments section on videos like this wasn't about "well, golly-gee! I wish I could live when my parents were kids". Seriously. Just enjoy the video.
I'm just 25 years old but this song resonates with me so much cause I've seen so many technological and many other advances and with having a niece and nephew I feel even older knowing they'll ask me what it was like growing up one day
Im 13 and im really glad i grew up in the country where this was the life you lived no matter what age. I miss this way of life this generation is fucked up...
This song never gets old I mean pinpoints my entire life. I don’t understand the world anymore. I sent it to a couple of my younger brothers. Holy smokes you have to and you have to get a good seat. I don’t care if you can’t sit with your best friend you have to get a good seat.
I love this song it reminds me of my child hood when you could get a gallon of gas fro under 2.00 a gallon back in the 80S it was nice I do miss back when when the price of a gallon of milk was cheaper than it was today and we don’t sit around the table anymore either even in Christmas or thanksgiving we say the blessing then some of us sit at the table while others including myself go eat in the living room
@Bamaboy585 The lyrics are wrong in one place. At 03:23 it is "I want an old Wurly hummin'..." It is a reference to the mechanical humming sound of a Wurlitzer jukebox playing records. You may have gotten the lyrics off a lyrics site. Be aware, these sites copy each other, incorporate the deliberate mistakes that are inserted into the lyrics intentionally in order to avoid copyright strikes. These are, as near as I can tell, like the fake islands placed in maps by cartographers to prove who is copying their maps. But make no mistake, the lyrics are as I stated above. The reference is to a Wurlitzer.
Thank you bc I am age 61, born in 61, & never knew that about that. I sure enjoy a lot of music on here & am grateful for this upload. Great sound quality & professional effort ie: credit given to all in the drop down box. I don’t remember who posted it right now, but will save it for later & subscribe since it was their first & at least 12 years ago. 🎶😊❤🎶
Yea back in those days when God was still present in the classrooms. And kids didn't have a rectangular demonic device stuck in their faces. The good ole days 👍🏻
It doesnt matter if god is in the classroom. Without god in the HOME kids won't know much about the word cellphones or not. You DO know there are preschers and christians preaching the word online dont you?😂😂😂😂
"the wind was all that blew" brings two things to mind. 1. blowjob jokes and 2. the saying "that blows" which means "that's awful" can't decide which he meant or if he meant both XD either way it's hilarious
I got a craving for one of them tonight and thought of this song. The line about sitting around the table made me think of my grandparents and brought tears to my eyes.
I miss friends, family, and even the people of the world from my childhood. Aside from hd tv, and cellphones. people in general would go out of there way to help you. Vacation didn't carry the burden of if your house would be broken into while you were gone. And family get togethers was mandatory and enough food on the table that it was hard to get to the food because there was food in the way.
Still loving this song in 2021. Wish the world was like it used to be
2020 in the midst of Covid.. I sure miss back when.
Yeah, this Covid pandemic is insane.
Amen! We live in a messed up world! Stick to your guns! I will always raise my boys to "treat people the way they would want to be treated"

I was 13 when this first came out and now still at 28 this song speaks to me. My favorite song from Mr. McGraw, makes me so nostalgic.

I miss back when also. My girlfriend heard it and said, "Sul, this is you". Man those times were the best. Thanks!
I'd do anything to live in my parents generation. Things just seem much simpler. Its hard now days cause the way everybody is, but i'm proud to say im one of the few who, i guess you could say, has an "old soul".
I've been told that I have an old soul. So you sir, are not alone, besides that, I feel the same way.
LOTRKnowItAll I'm with both of you. I'd give anything to just see one day of my family's life back then.
Christina Daigle amen i would give anything to live in their day, but i have an old soul that people just don't understand anymore
Yeah. Back when the comments section on videos like this wasn't about "well, golly-gee! I wish I could live when my parents were kids". Seriously. Just enjoy the video.

Yes, yes it is.
Back in the 1720s when "screws" were actually screws! I miss the roaring 1720s too Timmy!
Life felt much safer back then. I don't remember all these terrorist fears, school shootings, disease outbreaks. Our poor children and grandchildren!

"im reading street slang for dummies,

Nice job on the video, not sure if anyone else pointed this out but the only mistake I saw was near the end, he says I want and Old Wurly humming,
Yup. 2020! Worst year, but I'm here listening to music♡♡
Forget having the wishes of this song. I want to go back to 2004 when this song came out...
