i think it's bcs you read sylve as shirube in jp and star is from his name "hoshi" but that's just me coming to conclusion cmiiw

Yup, it's correct! Sylve is from "Shirube" and Star is from "Hoshi". So it's like Hoshirube's kanji but in reverse - Hoshi (星) Shirube (導) ^^~
