2 questions:
How to cheese karma?
how to throw the rock to get an extra boost while sliding?

1. Basically if you starve and exit the game when you wake back up you will be set back a cycle but keep your karma level.
2. You just do a normal slide and in the middle of it throw an item backwards. The timing is very hard but you feel cool when you pull it off.

How did you get to karma X going only through 3 echos? I thought each one brings you one step up like (O, |) -> (8, ⚲︎, |)->(... Y)->(... X). Does the last echo just skip Y and give you X?
