Kantrum is a Khmer Surin genre to the Northwest of Cambodia but the singer and dancer is dressed as Phnong people of Northeast Cambodia. They have the wrong costumes on haha Khmer surin people are different from Phnong people. Thank you for sharing the good music though

Kantrum was actually originated from the Thai nationals of Khmer ancestry origin because Surin was part of Cambodia in the past. While it was annexed, many Khmer locals in Surin have to mix their culture with Thai and Lao and they came up with Kantrum.
Same as saravan that came from Lao natives with Khmer descent due to southern Laos was part of Khmer land before too.

@@unknownmini923 not really bro, Kantrum is purely Khmer. The northern Khmer in Surin, Buriram and Sisaket invented it. Kantrum comes from Pleng Krum or Pleng Arak (spirit music). The Northern Khmer just play it in a way more catchy way. And nowadays it has become a whole music industry. It is Khmer not Thai or Lao. The heavy drums and string instrument that we always hear in Kantrum music is typically Khmer, both Khmer Leu and Khmer Kandal love to use it. Lao and Thai music sound totally different. They have their song called «Molam or Mor lum»
