    What was your best/wildest Black Friday story? WAS BLACK 2024 THE WORST ONE YET? IS THIS CORPORATE GREED? How much off is a "GOOD DEAL?" Have you been able to find any good deals this year? Do you think Black Friday sales are worth it? Do you think Black Friday is a scam? Have you ever been tricked by a Black Friday 'deal'? Did this video change your mind about Black Friday? Also, what percent is your phone 🔋ON? It's 1:27 a.m. and I'm on 34%
    😭 and I'm TIRRRREEEDDDD!

      I was only impressed by one Black Friday sale, and it was from a jewelry store I've been looking at. Two bracelets are about $60. With the sale, and shipping the same two bracelets were under $25. lol I can' say no to a sale like that.

They think that’s worth even getting out of bed for? 😂 I remember a lady trying to snatch a $5 coffee pot right out of my hands in Target on Black Friday in 2002 because it was the last one and I got there first. • @Georgie_R
      @Georgie_R 2 วันที่ผ่านมา +6

      That use to be extremely commonplace sales techniques used in the UK.... that got so bad and prevalent legislation was brought in to stop it. Of course that just meant stores just had to charge astronomically inflated prices for 30 days before reducing it to a higher 'sale' price than i would have been originally.
      And supermarkets found their own price gouging way-as it only had to be the price in 25% of their stores.... meaning only 25% of their customers got regularly stiffed. (It's changed again since then-by them all just buying out convenience stores across the country and charging a fortune for everything in them-meaning they can do 'special offers in the main store that are actally higher than they were originally-but list the convenience store prce as the original one.... pretty effing shady-but legal!!!)
      But all amazon EU sites are currently being investigated over this deceptive pricing tactic too-as it is equally illegal there. Sadly for Amazon-they can't just raise the price astronomically-as people will quite simply move their purchase to retailers that charge a legitimate price.... kinda like how their massive jump in free shipping price didn't lead to massive sign ups to Prime-just folk moving to other etailers that offered free or reasonable shipping costs for the items the actually wanted.

    I’ve worked Black Friday in retail for 13 years. This was my first year not working retail so I went out with my friends just to see what it’s like now. It was dead. No hype at all, people were super chill, and everyone was being very polite to employees. I was so pleasantly surprised.
    Also, I diligently track prices of things I purchase online. My Amazon cart went up over $50 this weekend, with products I’ve had sitting in there for over two weeks.

    I started going to bin stores like "hot bins" this fall. Essentially the stores buy palates of Amazon returns and sell it. So you're searching through the bins because it's literally random stuff and you don't know what you're going to find. Could be an $90 smart watch, could be bookmarks. I had to stop going though because you start to get addicted to the thrill of a good deal and then you end up buying a ton of random stuff that you don't need because it's a "good deal"

      Amazon throws away hundreds of thousands if products in their warehouses away every month to make room for new stuff. Brand new TVs, computers, phones... in the landfill. I'm glad somethings are being resold instead of trashed. Though, I figure eventually it will come back to haunt them as ppl just wait to get the items this way instead of on the site.

    When I look back and reflect on how hooked I was on consumer culture, spending money... here a little and there a little ... on things I did not need, I BEG YOU, hold on to your money. Do NOT get suckered into this self-destructive mindset pushed on us. It is a waste of money - which, in the end, is a waste of time spent to get the money to spend, and is, ultimately, a waste of HUGE chunks of your life for so little in return.
    There are so many more fulfilling things to do with your life rather than endless and empty consumer spending. Please let this go as quickly as possible.

      That’s great for you. It will pay off for you, for sure. If I think about it, this is one of my biggest regrets, that I didn’t see through this for the fraud that it is. I sought satisfaction from buying things and from what money could get me. But this is considered “normal” behavior in our culture. It’s what we do. We buy whatever we see that we want. It doesn’t have to be excessive or a spending. “addictìon” but we so easily get hooked into that mindless mentality. But I’d tell anybody. Don’t let this be one of your regrets, too. See through it because it never EVER ends. Take it from me. We don’t need this stuff.

It would be halfway understandable to buy stuff if you knew you were spending your hard-earned money on high-quality goods, built to last, worth your dollars but this stuff out here isn’t built to last 5 minutes. It is, in fact, built to break down, falll apart, be obsolete and/or useless so it can be replaced by the latest, newest shiniest, next thing out here also designed to take your money again in 6 minutes. Spend. Spend. Spend. All by design. The neverending game doesn’t end. It’s not satisfying so let’s stop chasing...agree

    I've been going to bin stores like Hot Bins for a few years, they all have different names, and I think the proper term for them is liquidation stores. Our local chain started selling early bird passes to get in like 15 minutes early because those high end items and electronic things get picked over REAL fast. That said, I've found some really good stuff on deep discount, but since it's all returns, discontinued items and overstocks from places like Amazon or Target the stock is 100% random. I suggest using the Amazon app's barcode scanner to check if it's actually a deal, and how much you save. One time the bins had loads of jumbo packs of dog diapers, for example. Also you have to dig though a lot of cheap Temu-grade crap to get the good or useful stuff. HOWEVER, I have started going less often because I don't want my house to fill up with bin store stuff as I prioritize wants vs. impulse buys vs. needs. 😅

    I enjoyed this video! I remember back in the day when folks mammas, aunties and grannies were outside fist fighting and knocking each other down for Tickle Me Elmo dolls 😂. Once Apple came along they were fighting over new phones, Ipads and headphones. Don't forget about getting a new big screen TV every year. Imagine getting literally trampled at the local Walmart and Mall after camping outside for hours. The levels of violence were unreal back in the day. Sidenote, so if you camp outside a store do you leave your stuff outside while you are shopping? 🤨🤷🏽‍♀️😂

    I did not participate in Black Friday. I bought shoes for my kids on black friday week, but my kids needed shoes and they were on sales.
    I saw my wishlists on amazon and etc., online and items that were more costly did not go on any sale. They just put some items on sale that are bellow 30 dollar on sale.
    As for anything local, yes there were offers like 3 clothes piaces for 50 dollars but I just looked around, thought that I would probably not wear any if this or just let it be in my closet.
    I put money into saving accounts and paid my bills, debt.
    You can get deals all around the year, not only on Black Fridays.

    Thrift stores and bin sale places like that HotBox are honestly the only places worth it. My local thrift had all merch 50% off. I swear it's the only places that bring any kind of discounts worth anything

      Literally!!! I only go to like ross and dds stuff like that. My local thirst stores always have different colored tag sales. They even have a day where you can fill up a bag with clothes for like 5 bucks. Not goodwill though its always the religious ones. But with resellers theres nothing good anymore 😔😔😔

    This was a fun video! I can't believe how fast you got this posted. I am a very atypical Black Friday, cyber Monday shopper. I am in the paper planner community. You know like Happy Planner? This time of year is what I save up for to get my planners for next year and sticker deals. Small shops do some nice discounts. Just have to be patient as they are very small businesses and it takes time to get your order. Except Happy Planner. They get your order out quick but they were bought out a few years ago by a company with more resources.

      ❤ Thank you so much. I'm glad that you enjoyed it and I'll be working overtime editing and getting these videos out a lot of the time. I didn't go to sleep until three this morning and I'm back up lol. And that is really cool that you are in the paper planner community. I hope you were able to get some good discounts this year! Is that similar to couponing? I have seen some people with couponing get loads of washing detergent and things of that sort for an amazing price. I am always so impressed with how well planned out and affordable their shopping is!

    I worked at Walmart in like 2017. I had to be there on Thanksgiving for black Friday and the store was NUTS. Never seen so many people in my life and they were being herded like cattle into the store! Glad it's not like that anymore tbh.

    I did oldschool Black Friday once, maybe 13 years ago. I waited in line for hours, and the person ahead of me got the LAST cheap laptop. I was so mad, and swore I'd never do that again. And my laptop had just died, I actually needed a new one! They had like 22 discount laptops for hundreds of people, and you all know they could sell more if they wanted. Other people told me they went to big box stores on Black Friday and the deep discount stuff was already sold by the employees to each other. Maybe other peoples' experience was different, but I suspect some people have rose colored glasses on when it comes to how "fun" that was.

      Yeah, I can understand lamenting when the deals were actual deals- hence the chaos and mobs you see in old footage- but pretending like that ish was a *good time*?
      It's like people missing Blockbuster, to me. Do you know how many great independent movie rental places there used to be, everywhere, but all anyone talks about was the store that sold candy and old popcorn at 40% markup, where no kid working there actually knew a damn thing about movies, and they could damn near mortgage your house through late fees.

    • @rvanderjagt5944
      @rvanderjagt5944 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@0HellcatMary0 Agreed about Blockbuster! Back in the late 90s, a video rental place tried to threaten us with retail theft charges over a movie that was maybe a week overdue tops, that wasn't even a new release, it had been out for like 15 years. And the tape itself had terrible audio! I'll take streaming any day over that predatory BS.

    I've been seeing a lot of these videos about Black Friday, and my question is, why is it a bad thing that people aren't trampling each other to DEATH for a deal on a TV anymore? I have never gone Black Friday shopping in my life, I avoided it. And I'm 29. I have worked in retail, however... so I find it refreshing that Black Friday is dying. Retail workers should be able to stay home with family after Thanksgiving ❤️ Love your videos! 🥰

    I've never participated in black Friday, but this year I had something I wanted and I thought it might be a good day to shop. I went to Walmart around lunchtime and there was something I wanted that cost 129$ and the clerk said it was usually around 200$ so I bought it and then it went back up to 215$ the next day. I saved 86$ on a little 14" laptop by HP. So I feel like Walmart had some great sales. People were lined up in the electronics department!! I should have tried to buy a new phone too! The good Walmart sale was 6 am to 11 pm Black Friday 1 day only so it's over now.

    I have never done Black Friday shopping. I am 56 yrs old and I have never done that. When I was younger my aunt took me to a mall a few days before Christmas and it was so crowded and gross I decided to ALWAYS do my shopping early. Now we have the internet and I don't shop in stores ever AND I spend less money

    I went out on a black Friday once in the early 2000s out of morbid curiosity... was definitely not for me. It's easier (for me) to pick up a gift here and there throughout the year. Sales happen year round and if i see something perfect for someone I'd rather get it when I see it. Hannukah and Christmas gift giving becomes so much more relaxed and easy without the last minute rush of searching and spending.
