Have you listened to the message carefully? We are saved by faith alone apart from works (including attending church) (Eph 2:8-9) for good works (Eph 2:10), but the good works we do must start from inside the church (Eph 2:11-16). We are not saved by attending church, but everyone who is saved must become part of the church. There is no Christian in the NT after Pentecost who was not part of a local church. Feel free to ask more if you have more questions.
Have you studied the history of the Ethiopian Church? They trace their origins back to the eunuch mentioned in Acts. It’s recorded that he was baptized, signifying his commitment to fulfilling the Great Commission as a disciple of Christ. While there may be some uncertainty regarding the details of his faith journey after parting ways with Philip, one thing is clear: he likely followed the pattern of the believers described in the Book of Acts. Are you suggesting that because this eunuch wasn’t explicitly mentioned as part of a local church in Acts 8, it’s acceptable for Christians today to not be involved in a local church? If so, that argument lacks a strong foundation, as there’s no evidence to suggest that he didn’t establish or become part of a church.
Further, the fact that the eunuch traveled to Jerusalem to worship and was reading the Old Testament indicates that he could have been of Jewish descent, a proselyte, or a Gentile God-fearer associated with a Jewish synagogue. This suggests that he might have returned to his community and potentially transformed his synagogue into a Messianic synagogue, which is similar to a Christian local church. Early church history shows that many Jewish synagogues did indeed become Messianic synagogues as they accepted Jesus as the promised Messiah.
doesn't add up. faith comes from hearing God's word, not from church attendance
