This is perhaps the wildest onboard ship in a storm video on YT... When trying to sleep one has to be spread eagle on his back to stay on his rack... One can only imagine the stress that the midships hull is dealing with, teetering on the wave crests and then lifted by the bow and stern down in the troughs... Many ships have been broken and lost in storms, one can't imagine how horrible the sound of the ripping steel would be...
wow.. 10m to 12m breaking waves, the ship looks like a toy, .. scary. Please note they are on a 45o degree course and on minimal speed, to avoid structural damage.
Imagine Even longer back...Vikings and their ships crossing the ocean from norway to England...and even further. They usually travelled om the spring when the weather is more stabile...but still.. the fall they gi back, with bigger chanses of seas like this. Crazy.
You paste this on every video showing ships in rough seas! I’ve lost count of the different videos I’ve watched and there you are! Same 🤬 thing! We get it, you admire the old wooden boats and you would love to know how they coped with monster waves, guess what? There are books written about it

@@innhverhur6662 do you have the longer clip please? Or even better longer clip minus the music so we can hear the angry sea. Fantastic clip by the way 👏🏽👏🏽
Who ever did the edit deserves to be recognized for their skill. Well done person of unknown origin. That was excellent! I cant get enough of large tankers in hurricanes and swells of unimaginable size. That was some of the bigger seas even for the likes of the north Atlantic! That body can get ugly and that was a nail butter. Beautiful. Just beautiful! Magnificent video in every aspect. Respect good sir or madame. Respect indeed
Horrific. That's really hard going indeed. :-( Amazing resolve to capture that passage. I hoipe they were all well and safe and I wonder what the cargo was and how it fared?
A perfect bearing for a corkscrew. I guess a few degrees to port is out of the question.(yes, I said bearing, not course or heading. bearing relative to wave travel.)
This is the most scariest that i have ever seen. People who knows much about seas tell me which is more dangerous in Storms... North Sea or Drake Passage.
Shame about the loud music, these are massive waves!😳😳 You see the tanker gets lifted up tossed and turned like it’s nothing! I’d love to be in that tanker watching it all. Please get rid of the noise
I agree with you about the music. The ship is a general cargo vessel. Luckily it was laden with cargo. If it was in ballast(no cargo) it would have been a lot worse. Pounding the waves and vibrating like hell.
I'd be blowing chunks everywhere if I were on that ship! I agree with an earlier poster it would have been cool to hear the waves and howling wind. Note to youtube posters. Leave off soundtracks unless you post a music video. Most the soundtracks suck and ruin non music videos.

I went across that north sea several times in the winter in the 90's but it was never rough, not proper rough. I kept hoping it would be but instead all I got was forced to stop going because of selfish maniac loud mouths on the coaches. And I once got some bored middle-aged bint inviting me to sleep with her on one sea trip. We all know the one about ships passing in the night, but you don't expect it on a ship!
i can't imagine working below decks you'd have to have nerves of steel
at least on the bridge you can prepare yourself for impact
yep, spent time on a 1100 tonne coaster sailing the seas around the uk. gets a bit bumpy at times. 40 years ago.
It would have been best to just hear the sound of the crashing waves and the moans and groans of the steel.
god bless all the sailors and the captain everyday!
If I was one of those sailors, I'd be buying beers for every welder I could find!!

Fantastic storm video but Id love too see it with original ship and storm sounds. Is that available else where?
Me to.

I agree. I don't understand why so many of these videos play music instead of the original sound of the ocean

Reminds me of the scene in Das Boote. Got to be brave just to go to sea in anything.
What forces are exerted on the structure? A ship similar to this one broke in two and in less stormy seas!
that was a brand new ship, one year old and properly loaded.. do not compare corrupted black sea area and europe..
