What’s the point of the leaf spring under

From what I understand, it allows for more wheel travel and reduces/eliminates negative arc when the suspension is compressed. Leafs maintain a positive arc through the entire cycle. Pats setup up allows for a lot of wheel travel, much more than a traditional leaf over setup.
